Oh my goodness have I enjoyed this video. Visiting this vid after a moment to head back to 5BF email from 7th June. Feedback from me: Niiice place!! The organisation & use of space is so 🤌. I just ran an Epsom salt bath ahead of watching this now and it also takes about 15mins, I also enjoy iced water when in a hot bath.
As a final note: there’s a gorgeous ryokan in Nara with a private bath in the room overlooking a large pond. They have an onsen also and an amazing 16 course traditional menu… Should you be interested in going there, I would personally very much like to go again! Young-ish single woman here being bold (trust me, I’m not insane, just very very brave. I can understand if this does come across as crazy, no offence taken🤍).
The apple cidar vinegar and the unfiltered honey with some camomile tea knocked me out. Thank you so much.
Love the lighting of his house, warm lights really relaxes your senses and sets the mood
Tim, you live life like Batman!
I love it.
A statue of Seneca right in the kitchen, haha. This is great.
"I believe in taking care of myself, and a balanced diet and a rigorous exercise routine. In the morning, if my face is a little puffy, I'll put on an ice pack while doing my stomach crunches. I can do a thousand now. After I remove the ice pack, I use a deep pore cleanser lotion. In the shower, I use a water activated gel cleanser. Then a honey almond body scrub. And on the face, an exfoliating gel scrub. Then apply an herb mint facial mask, which I leave on for 10 minutes while I prepare the rest of my routine. I always use an aftershave lotion with little or no alcohol, because alcohol dries your face out and makes you look older. Then moisturizer, then an anti-aging eye balm followed by a final moisturizing protective lotion. There is an idea of a Tim Ferriss, some kind of abstraction, but there is no real me. Only an entity, something illusory."
"Then, one day soon, I will calmly walk outside to my Zen garden and blow my brains out".
And though I can hide my cold gaze and you can shake my hand and feel flesh gripping yours and maybe you can even sense that our lifestyles are probably comparable, I simply...am not...there
lets see paul allen's routine
@@dotarjun tomestamp
Here's my routine - I put the little one to bed and answer a lot of questions about monsters and why they ARE NOT real and that it is TIME to GO TO SLEEP. Then, I have a HUGE Martini, followed by a glass of red - plus between one and two dinners. Then I move to a calming area of the house called 'infront-of-the-TV-or-Mac" where I watch a bunch of crap and videos of people with perfect lives. Then I routinely wonder why I have put weight on, before I go to bed with, occasionally, indigestion.
Mark Jeffries +1
Me too
okay!! my life now seems better.
Ha, I was just thinking “Ok, so Tim clearly doesn’t have kids.”
My evening routine is:
- read a story to the eldest whilst the younger twins cause havoc in the other room
- if the twins are still awake after I’m done settling the eldest, I may have to help with settling them
- go downstairs and clear up kitchen from dinner
- get bags, clothes, shoes, and (depending on the day) packed lunches ready for tomorrow
- go upstairs
- brush teeth
- pray to god that my blood sugar doesn’t drop just as I’m drifting off to sleep (type 1 diabetic here, and that’s happening frequently at the moment. I’d adjust pump settings, but I just haven’t got round to it yet)
- fall asleep utterly exhausted (I don’t have trouble falling asleep surprisingly)
- wake up at midnight to do the midnight pee run with the eldest
- potentially get woken up twice more overnight (me and the missus take it in turns as to who gets a full nights sleep) for more pees (albeit from the twins this time)
- wake up at 5am with the twins and start the day wishing I could bring myself to set the alarm for 4:30am so I could have 10 mins to meditate in peace, and have a quiet coffee
Just to add here, I’d rather leave the missus asleep, as she seems to need it more than me
You now probably described routine of 99% population of the western world :), poor world can£t afford Martini, 2 dinners and Mac, otherwise they would do the same :D
the 4-hour sleep routine
sxn word
The no sleep routine*
Lmao
This shit is dumb as fuck. This dumb is on lame shit in his own reality. Fuck bou shit
@@theworkethic hell yea
Peering into Tim's daily routines is fascinating. He is an interesting character, very charismatic.
Tim Ferris using a hydroflask as a foam roller seems like something out of South Park.
Grand Theories
GOLD 😄
I love this comment, still laughing.
While I was waiting for my foam roller to be shipped, I used a lacrosse ball sized malachite sphere.
I also drank Lapsang Souchong long before Tim was born.
This man is the embodiment of capitalism, the good and the bad. I mean that as a compliment.
This excess lifestyle is both intriguing and seemingly wasteful but it shows you that even something as mundane as going to bed can become an experience.
Tim, you never fail to fascinate me.
15 min to fill his bath 🛁 😑
These are 100 times more engaging then the Q&As. Keep the great content coming, Tim.
how much did he pay you for this comment lmao
My first impression was "This is such a lowkey cribs flex vid." But then I realized this guy is a scientist above all else, and therefore is being quite gracious by sharing this info, because surely he realizes all the while what an outlier he probably appears to be. So, well done and thanks for sharing!
6 minute video to say he reads a book, makes a tea and has a bath before bed
😂
Fucking joke. These self help guys are no different then instagram thots. They are narcissistic tools addicted to their personas just in another part of the online world.
@@theworkethic "narcissistic tools addicted to their personas just in another part of the online world" - would you like some ego cheese with that self deprecation whine?
Thanks for saving me 5min of my life! Lol
😂
Tim!!!! I can't take this anymore!!! What the hell is going on in your head??? There are soooo many aspects of my life I want to enhance... Where to start! Besides your morning routine (eating, washing, etc) and evening routine (preparing for rest, etc), how do you manage "the rest", ie working on financial, personal, experimental, relational, etc, etc .... Knowing how you are, there must be an "systematic approach" to all this. For my part, I want it all... but feeling overwhelmed and not knowing where to start... THANKS IN ADVANCE! By the way, have bought your books... and can't wait to buy your new book Tools for Titans...
I am impressed... how do you manage to do your routines, busy how you are... I wake up at 4am every morning and I have my routines... but never would be able to do all these things :)
Do you soak in hot or cold water?
Thanks for everything you do. I'm glad to see you've been able to create a desired life for yourself by helping/inspiring everyone that you do.
Video quality increased and comfort in front of camera feels genuine. Well done. You should be proud!
His voice is amazing. Really. It's calming but yet powerful.
I don't trust him that much in the book. But over time listening to his talk, I adore him. Really amazing person!
Here is my kitchen just bought this new spa room. You know going to sleep is easy, all you have to do is break it down into one step: Firsttheteathenthevinegarandhoneyfollowedbysomereadingfollowedbysomefoamrollingandthen10minutesoutsoakinginwaterfor20minutes
I really like his kitchen.
Circle of life and circle of concern....change my life COMPLETELY! Cheers, Tim!
Life goals have a spa room in my basement. Goal #2 Have a basement
This is a wonderful post - so much helpful information on how to disconnect and slow down before bed. Note the complete lack of internet during this time.
Thanks Tim. This was great. Listened to a lot of your stuff years ago. I find myself falling off a bit now for various reasons but coming back to your videos has helped. Thanks again
Yummy! I have loved both that tea and quality honey for years. Can't get anyone to even try the tea despite its deliciousness. :) Honey + vinegar is one version of an old New England tonic called "switchel" that Dr. D.C. Jarvis (1881 - 1966) recommended. One potential caveat is circadian rhythm disruption, depending on the honey dose and lateness. Prof. Bill Lagakos would know more about this than me. My hunch is that consumption during daylight hours would be better, but maybe a small dose doesn't matter for most.
tim ferriss evrithing you say is gold to me
😍🥰
Here in my kitchen just bought this new Douglas Fir Spring Tip tea here. It's fun to drink in the magical San Francisco evenings. But you know what I like more than drinking tea? Reading fiction in my ofuro bathtub. It’s like the billionaire Warren Buffett says, “the more you read, the more you sleep”.
Sorry couldn't resist, but anyways these videos are great!
lmao 😂
Fucking lol
LOL!
Now that was some creative shit. Lol
Did Tim just get turned into a sitcom character?
Very good job guys, I’m heading to Colombia in a couple of months and this was a very entertaining thing to watch. Keep it up!
Soaking tub is great, Also a Flotation Tank would be wonderful for you since you are already doing high amount of magnesium sulfate. The restricted environmental stimulus would allow you to increase your uninterrupted focus and imagery, much like this spa room, but with other benefits. But im sure you already know that . ;) Well done , good ritual and nice tranquil room. Many people do not believe that doing LESS at points in time can help them do MORE and BETTER in the long run.
doing less would mean to just go to bed and not start this crazy process ;)
some of us aren't blessed with the ability to just switch off and enter dream land.
My God Tim, If you keep this up your channel is going to absolutely explode! Best wishes!
What a maniac lol. Love it
Very nice and relaxing atmosphere in the spa room.
Good tip on using the flask as a roller - doing that. Awesome Japaneese soaker tub with the mag sulf. American tubs are small and I need to fold myself for full immersion. I'm your first customer on airbnb. lol
Tims 48th Book......How I live to be 150 years old.
Seriously this guys body and mind must be immaculate.
So, Tim Ferris doesn't brush his teeth.
Apparently, fluoride can clog your brain and damage your brain cells or something.
What, really?
nah its all about the dosage folks. there's very little fluoride in toothpaste.
you could go for a flouride free thootpaste, completely herbal and natural
"flouride free thootpaste" is not recommended as it is very bad for your teeth.... when it comes to your oral health its better to listen to your dentist than uneducated conspiracy theorists...
The first 3 days I tried this I only had to get up in the night 3 times so I didn't piss myself. But since then it's been better.
Tim Ferriss is so full of routines that he's actually a walking routine
Seems too high maintenance. Either read, journal or do some yoga nidra breathing and you'll dose off.
My evening routine has been huge in helping me wake up early the next morning!
Took at least 2 weeks before I started getting used to it.
I tried the applecidar vinegar and honey thing and fell asleep standing up.
dude sue him he's loaded
haha
Most people have high adrenaline and cortisol. Particularly the low carb club that thrives in this bulletproof/tim ferris/paleo age.
Honey restores liver glycagen rapidly and the acidity of the ACV calms the system and acidifies that highly alkaline kale shake drinkers blood.
Both lower stress.
The Liver glycagen provides energy throughout the night so you don't wake up starving for glucose, like the low carb crowd does.
Better yet. Do 4 TBS of raw honey, Sea salt teaspoon, ACV. Talk about passing out.
If u really wanna sleep eat half a pint of hagendazz icecream. Sugar/cream will knock you the fk out.
I can’t explain why that combination gives me vivid dreams I can remember. I wish I knew I was dreaming in the dreams!
Lols
We love Tim!
I'm a bit late to the game, but thanks for sharing. Had to order that book you recommended. You are quite the Influencer, Tim. Indeed.
Love this guy. Seems genuine.
That's cool about your hydroflask that doubles as a "foam" roller - I have a coffee mug that also doubles as a bowl for my chips.
@nichecartoons ...😅
Those vlogs are getting better and better
Weird, nobody seems to get that you can adapt this routine to your own house and lifestyle. Get a water bottle, get some tea, take a shower or a bath. Read a book.
You don't need to have a Japanese bath with accent lighting. A soft nightlight is about $4 at home Depot.
People tend to be very jealous.
It’s not the stuff he owns that throws people, it’s the rigidity and impracticality for most people, and also the total self absorption that this requires .
Joaquin Kline Wham BAM
giving the Honey/AC Vinegar a try tonight. I already ate half the honey jar while waiting for the vinegar to come in the mail lol. Doesn't taste too bad so far; using chamomile tea/
1. Making decaffeinated tea; putting apple cider vinegar and honey
2. Reading fiction
3. Filling hydro flask
4. Going into spa room
5. Sauna; increasing endurance
6. Showering
Hey guys! Thought I'd key you in on some of my key tips to success. It all starts with this product. After I use this specific product, I use another specific product. Finally, about 10 minutes out, I use this last specific product. Thanks again!
I tried the apple cider and honey tea back in 2016 when this video came out. Only just woke up
Student Engineer 😂
I liked it. I can’t wait to find out what’s to the left at 6:28!
Absolutely love this...what a great tub.
This seems like so much fun and relaxing, better than watching netflix to sleep
Like your sauna and warm soak idea👍😊
I like this 5-7 minutes daily format
Thank you.
Mohsin Hamid is EXCELLENT, his book Exit West I can not recommend enough, especially with recent debates on migration.
Just motivated me to make ginger root tea and done water w/ oregano oil. Love some ACV. Have you thought about adding color therapy to your sauna? Thanks for sharing.
Went off keto after 3 months because of insomnia and heart palps when ever lying down. I was hitting the minerals/salt hard too - didn't matter. I wonder if this tea would help that. Really bumbed out I had to go off too.
Hey Tim, just wanted to say I'm a big fan you in general, but moreover (listen to the podcast for about 8 hours a day when I'm working) of these new style videos you are making, particularly the routine related ones. If you life continues to allow for it I'd love for you to make more of these with any kind of regular frequency!
This has American Psycho written ALL OVER IT
"Then moisturizer, then an anti aging eye balm, followed by a final moisturizing protective lotion"
he then goes to return some video tapes
"i consume the ice water every 2 to 3 cycles"
great comment 😂
🤣😂🤣
Anyone old enough to remember "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous"? Tim would be on there with this place.
Nice simple evening routine that everyone can afford to follow & do...
@salesprosteve
Yah...haha😅 good point!
(your cynicism was not lost on me)😂
I was told, when I had insomnia while doing IF with feeding starting with a breakfast, that I needed carbs to sleep. It worked.
Somebody else said on another one of your videos you should do a house tour. Please do! And I hate to be a nerd but if you do also show your book collection. Lol
...and the backyard, LOL;)
StaticDreamsEntert Great request! Home tour and book collection!
yeah definitely
StaticDreamsEntert Please do!
This dude is so fken organised its crazy
its called OCD
he became successful because he's organized, so that's great
He's organized but like I said in a comment here this is not duplicatable to probably 90% of the people that asked the question of his evening routine. The question is why do people want to know so much? It's not going to help them work 4 hours a week and become multimillionaires. Great tips but I hope people don't go, "Oh I MUST do exactly that to become successful!" While they're living in Chicago and make $9.00 an hour.
Adam Macias Its because if you begin to act like a successful person it can surprisingly change your whole way of thinking. And having routine can help to keep focus.
Adam Macias The desire to be the most dynamic you doesnt need to be motivated/ quantified by your income. Might as well try a few things out until we become dust :)
“I clip my hydro flask on to my carry on with a carabiner” is one of the whitest sentences I’ve heard lolllll.
hahaha
LOL
"I strap my MAC10 to my crack bag robbing a PayDay loan advance kiosk."
Ye zero percent melanin in that sentence 😂
Are you race shaming poor Tim tim
Tim Ferris: This is my evening routine.
Cathy Newman: So you‘re saying, that you don‘t brush your teeth? 😅
this style of video is great keep it up
That spa is absolutely insane!
Tim! Please show us more of the house and your gadgets/equipment & routines!! Loved it!
Go Go Tim Tim!
Hey Tim! thanks for all the great info. Do you have a reading list anywhere online? I'd love to add some of your recommendations to my reading. -M
my new goal is to build my own spa room
How about helping the poor and needy or creating an amazing piece of art? We don't need to buy expensive things to make us feel worthwhile.
As you said, money does not correlate, so thus something expensive should have just as much of a place as something free, as it is the feeling gained from it, not the money expended.
Colin Richard how can you make your opinion universal? For me money does correlate. My passion are all kinds of things that drive fly swim etc and the more speed and the crazier I can go around corners l, drift etc the more Dopamin is released and the happier I am. Fast cars are expensive, fast boats are expensive so are planes helicopters quads, the license for participating in official races etc.
For some things your argument might be true but as I said not necessarily for everyone and in every case.
I have created a 8x10 sauna and have a cold shower and 7 person sauna. I highly recommend following Tim Ferris' guide on the size of the sauna heater, this is key for quick heat-up. Mine unfortunately takes 45 minutes to heat up because it was compliant
Sauna room > feel better > do better work > make more money > help more people??
Tim -- where can I educate myself more on tea? Is there a book that you would recommend to teach me more about the benefits, ways to consume, and types / differences of tea? I looked on Amazon, but most books I found are based on Japanese culture, etc.
Thanks for the tour and nightly ritual! I'm going to try the honey+tea+apple cider vinegar for sure. I have a question about the insomnia you've experienced. Was it difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep? I have no problems falling asleep, but my insomnia manifests as waking up one or two hours before I've set my alarm and not being able to fall back to sleep. Was your's a similar experience, or did you only have trouble falling asleep?
Tim is so extra. I love it
Love the new look on the vids... Also finally bought "The four hour work week" nothing short of awesome! Thank you Tim
Any tips on maintaining muscle mass? Preventing muscle loss?
Thanks for a detailed example of an evening ritual.
Amazing. Thanks Tim
Hey Tim, my question is how do you stick to your routines when you are in a relationship?
Tim, thanks for the tour. very well done.
These latest series of videos are solid gold! Thanks Tim.
Any information on how you built your sauna? Been looking into it and the best solutions are small shed type structures
life hack: never marry and spend your days looking at yourself in the mirror saying to yourself "stay humble".
lmaoooo
Hello.... I agree with you... and visualizing the situation though I am not married and have not been, I see it is the truth. Marriage is not a vocation for all by any means: bringing religion into it ' better to marry than burn' brings a lot of people into it; the primary reason for it is to raise children in a loving intact family not to indulge appetites; some can see this ahead of time(?) who knows.... in any case am female.
Marriage is a beautiful thing. Pity you got sucked in the filth of others ideas and failures.
You're similar to the attractive girls who complain about harassment (aka "creepers" saying hello to you). In other words, you actually love the attention, but it's apparent you might speak against it so much so that you can brag about the attention by pretending you hate it. How does this relate to marriage, you might ask? You pretend it's a "team" thing yet in reality you just can't stand yourself enough to be alone and you will settle for that white picket fence and man or woman that will just do and you don't mind banging on a regular basis.
Also, a "married" atheist....hmmmm, could there possibly be a more hypocritical adjective/noun combo? I can't think of any off the top of my head.
Thanks Tim. Apple Cider is sometimes thought to down.
I love the apple cider vinegar suggestion.. I often get heartburn for imbalance in gut bacteria .. will use it any chance I get .. Ferriss Rules
Love it! Tim you are authentic and full of grit. I'd love to know what sparked your journey early on and how your friends and family respond to your fame.
Thank you for sharing. That's a BEAUTIFUL spa bathroom!
What is your cycle, Tim? Like, from the soaking to the sauna? Or do you include the ice bath? Thanks so much for this! Looking forward to more content. I love your Podcast! ♥.
Thanks a lot for sharing! Great to see such high level routines
cheers tim
killing it with these daily videos. well produced. thanks
estos videos están incriebles, felicitaciones y sigue con esta línea por favor!
Interesting. Never thought of mixing apple cider vinegar, honey, and tea as a nightly drink to go to sleep. I've drank tea in the past but just a stress tea with kava because it's the only tea i've tried I like the taste of without putting anything extra in it for flavor. Now, I'm drinking Gold from Organifi as my night drink and loving it. I will lay down and start to read and usually don't make it past 2-3 pages before i'm out.
Any suggestions if you don’t have a bath? I wish I had one!
Would like to see your ice bath (Wim Hof) practice Tim! It's a very fascinating topic and love when you talk about it
That's the best pronunciation of ofuro I've heard from someone who isn't Japanese
when I used to be a multi millionaire entrepreneur and best selling author, this was also my beddibies routine too. But I used matey bubbles in the spar bought from marks and Spencer’s .
