    Been playing for 14 years, recording and mixing for 7... I have NEVER heard anyone explain how to achieve a properly balanced guitar tone one time in my entire life lmao THANK YOU.

    Miko, Ive just tried your two free IRs with Helix Stomp HX. Man, what a great sound. It is magic! I didnt need to tweak on parameters. Made me erase all my impulse on Helix. Congra!

    Awesome video - One other tip you might want to add is that when you use this method you definitely want to use new or “newish”strings. As you have pointed out in another video on guitar tone old strings will not sustain as much. And then the bass strings will likely always dominate as there will be a little less effect of the gunk on the strings causing the lower strings to slow down prematurely in comparison to the treble strings and balance will be harder to achieve.

    Thanks so much man! I tried your technique on several amps. and was amazed at how much better they sounded :O Something always stopped me from turining the bass all the way down. like I feel like I HAVE to have it up at least a bit. but just listening to the notes using this technique made the tone fit in the mix Soooo much better! :D
    THANKS DUDE! I'm tempted to buy the Cab Lab3. Just hoping it goes on sale or something as I just splashed out on a Torpedo live

    Wow so I just did this to my tone on my 500X and holy crap this actually works haha. I realized I had way more room to add some bass and resonance into my tone, and realized the mids on my 5150 were overpowering the other amp completely as well (dual amp sim tone). I tweaked it a fair bit using that dissonant low to high string combo and getting it more balanced increased my sustain quite a bit.

    Hi Mikko I just revisited this video of yours and is fantastic! you are definitely a genious about this! very clever to identify each octave as a different frequency. just a question in case of a bass guitar tone do you have the same procedure? 2 octaves apart on both ends, and octave to find the mid freqs? thanks a lot again MIkko! really diggin your IRs!

    Hey Mikko! When you're plucking the strings for this method, are you using fingerpicking (ie. plucking the lowest string with your thumb)? Or hybrid picking? It's hard to tell since your hand's out of view. Thanks so much for your help!

    • @mlsoundlab
      @mlsoundlab  4 года назад

      I try to pluck everything equally - most likely hybrid in this video. Ideally if that's hard I recommend plucking quite hard with just a pick.

    Hello Mikko, what are the cab pack you used and the ones you consider worth it for the axe FX 2? For Metal sound to be a little more specific...

      Arnaud Garni I really love Cab Pack 13 for my guitar sound. Cab Pack 7 is best for that Petrucci sound. For Marshall sounds it's definitely PR75 from the Brit Family that was just released. :)

    Would the room have any impact on this approach? Bedroom vs Practice space vs Gig?
    I always find low end is either to much or not enough from room to room.

    If you use a boost like a tube screamer do you do this method with the od on or off?

    • @mlsoundlab
      @mlsoundlab  5 лет назад +1

      This method usually leads to you not needing a boost pedal but if you do then have it on. :)

    Does this actually sound good to anyone? Not to hate but to my ear it has waay to mutch mud, a bit to mutch highs and i guess the mids are in the next town over.... just use a compressor or a limiter in the loop or a more balanced out speaker like the cl80
