I daily drive Ratpoison heavily. It's a weird one, but amazing for people that love the minimalness of it. It's actually heavily modeled after the GNU Screen terminal multiplexer, almost having the same bindings and help menu layout. Which I also use heavily and makes Ratpoison very familiar. It's the perfect WM for people like me that love the feel and level of minimalism that GNU Screen and Nano have.
Herbstluftwm also uses frames and when I used HLWM I always avoided using frames. I now can see some advantages to using them. I wonder if on a program like Firefox while in a frames, if you hit F11 for fullscreen, would Firefox go fullscreen across the 2 frames or if it would honor the frame it was in?
Mate i read your chanel info. Im kinda advanced linux user ... that beeing said if you are not an expert then I do not know who the F is. Great channel
Sorry for bothering you but ... One more question 3:53 what's that! I have tryed few of tty / text based login mangers yet none of them work at all or in a pedictible way. So if you be so kind and give me a name of this one i would be greatfull.
Ratpoison is more like a multiplexer due to its defaults being everything is maximized rather than split automatically or manually. That and being only frames with zero float.
My wife once saw me looking at Linux stuff online and saw "Ratpoison" (the window manager). She jokingly asked if I was planning to kill her. For the record, when it comes to window managers, I prefer Openbox.
Ah no mouse lol. I was worried it was some kind of violence against the xfce mascot :(

That was me 😁 on your first video about installing openbox on Debian stable.
Ratpoison is a fun one to play around with, i have yet to live in it for an extended period of time but I contemplate it all the time.
Thanks greatly to the videos you did a couple years back. I studied quite a few .ratpoisonrc files on git. Yours was a great framework.
@@JustAGuyLinux glad they helped
I'm really enjoying this series.
I'd love to see you wrap your mind around fvwm, but I hold no delusions that you will.

I definitely used a portion. Credit in description.
It's extremely similar to TMUX at the CLI

What panel are you using during the intro showing the xfwm4? Is that xfce4-panel or polybar?
