The fabric is beautiful! I have had my share of “fails”, so I know how you feel! I have three makes in my closet that need to be dealt with, but I just don’t have the heart for it! 😅 Have a good week! 🥰

Thank you Nancy! That’s a good idea to keep it in your closet so you at least see it and it reminds you😍 we all have the occasional fail but we just keep sewing! Have a great week, Nancy! ❤️❤️❤️

Hi Mary. I had a blouse that just destroyed me and I've been in a funk ever since! I need to get out of it. Your blouse did look pretty though

That's really sad considering your neckline came out so well, and the fabric is so pretty. I try to look at projects like that as learning experiences. You got more experience in the pivot and slide method of fitting. You're getting more experience in bias necklines. You also got more experience working with wovens. Not the win you were hoping for, but still a lot of experience now under your belt. I think the dress-a-girl dresses will be a good upcoming project because you can focus on sewing and not have to worry about fitting. For me fitting is always the hardest part, and projects that don't require fitting are a lot more fun to sew. I hope your Allegro pants turn out really well to keep you encouraged and motivated to sew!

Wow Thank you Nadine! I needed that! A totally better way to look at the outcome!❤️❤️Yes- fitting is not fun but when a garment fits and it’s me made that makes it worth the trouble- I just need a break from fitting, for sure! Thanks again, I hope you have a great sewing week ❤️❤️❤️

So sorry about the top, Mary! Maybe after some time apart, you two can work things out. 😉 Looking forward to seeing the next project! 💗

Good morning! Hey, the red top is not all that bad. I know you are sick of it, but you LOVE it. It doesn't look as bad as you think. A couple of suggestions: remove the cuffs (that should help with the shoulder ease a bit) and then open the back seam and splice in a strip for more ease. You have lots of fabric left, so you could probably pattern match the seams quite closely. There is enough room in the back neckline to account for however much you add. Looking at your photo, I'm guessing you wouldn't need to add more than 2 inches, if even than much. I just spent 8 months making a shirt because I loved the fabric so much. It was sew and rip and sew and then banish it out of sight several times. Then, because it was summer, it hung in the closet. I put it on the other day for photos for the Friday Sews group on Facebook and discovered it looks great and I truly love it. I've recently made a different version of the same top you've made. I omitted the back seam and placed both the front and the back on the fold. I slid the pattern over 1/2 inch (on both folds) giving me 2 inches more in total. If you need it you can also sew 1/4 inch seam allowance giving you more space. This didn't distort the original shape of the top and accounted for the extra room I needed for my D cup and my chubby tummy. Perseverance is the name of the game in sewing. I love your Project dress a girl fabrics. Your dresses should be really cute. Have a great week, Mary! 💐 Bernadette

Hi Bernadette! Thank you so much for your encouragement- I think it will be banished for a little while at least. Thanks for the tips - I just might try them after some time apart 😂 I’m so glad you ended up liking your top after all that time ❤️Have a great week and “happy” sewing! ❤️❤️❤️

Hi Mary! I know the feeling of having high hopes for a garment but it ends up being one problem issue after another. I think you put in good effort to try to make it where you were happy with the shirt and you were given more good suggestions by another commenter if you choose to try again later.
I admit that I have no problem throwing in the towel and being done with a project when I’ve had enough. I’m not going to like everything I make - whether fit, fabric choice, bad sewing, etc. - and I’m ok with moving on and not trying make every project work. I’m not trying to discourage you if you want to persevere, but rather just letting you know you are not alone if you choose to abandon a project.
I really like the project dress a girl pattern you are using and the fabrics you had in the bag as possible choices were really cute!
Depending on the fabric content of your red shirt fabric, you could maybe use it and your scraps for one of your dresses to donate? I think it has to be 100% cotton or cotton/poly blend that is mostly cotton (please double check and don’t go off what I say!). Turning it into something pretty and cheerful for a little girl would maybe make you feel better about it not working out for you.

Thank you so much Michelle!!😍I appreciate your encouragement ❤️ I don’t think my red fabric is the right content , but maybe I can make a little girls dress and give it to someone I know 👗 ❤️ I hope you have a great sewing week❤️❤️❤️
