This episode was a masterpiece! I didn't think it was possible, but you and the team have outdone yourselves. Bravo! Can't wait to see the next steps towards restoration! Also, it was almost like all those razor blades were purposefully placed to prevent anyone from completing work on the truck, lmao! Like it was supposed to stay an unfinished project. Glad no one lost any fingers removing the flooring!

Rich is the only guy i follow regularly and I really know when he posts even if I watch a lot of car youtubers. Sunday night here in Eastern Europe is getting nicer knowing that uncle rich is posting something new. You are really inspiring and your jokes and promotions are really funny. Hope to meet you one day and be a client of electrified garage. Can’t wait to see the progress of the v8 Tesla and also the duramax, it kinda gets forgotten.

Glad to hear you are not going to crush it. I love GM square body trucks. I was 14 when they came out in 1973. I have a 1979 standard cab 2 door short bed 2 wheel drive Chevy half ton. Original AZ truck, zero rust. It has been slightly lowered and leveled, but not bagged. Frame is 100% stock, never cut up. Still higher than most modern cars. It is painted GM Hugger Orange, with a gloss black 4" cowl hood. It has 15x8" mid '70s Corvette rally wheels (NO 30" GHETTOS) with BF Goodrich RWL T/A Radial tires. I built the engine, old school carbureted and cammed 383 small block with a supercharger. Just over 600 rwhp. No emissions CRAP, real dual exhaust with glasspacks, it has a 4 speed manual and a Posi rear axle that I had built (I don't do gears) Interior is pretty stock, it was a base model to begin with, so no headliner. Bench seat. No carpet, just a vinyl mat. Aftermarket steering wheel and shifter and lots of gauges. No stereo. You couldn't hear it over the exhaust anyway. It has a sliding rear window so you can hear the exhaust from inside. I have drag raced it, run mid twelves, but it's mostly a street truck. It has a back vinyl XTang Tonneau cover over the bed. Chrome front and rear bumpers, and chrome car mirrors. I love this truck, and plan to keep it for the rest of my life.

I built an 89 B2200 single cab SE5 into a rally type truck. I did everything in house as per usual, notched frame to lower down with custom adjustable suspension, engine swap to a 4.6l dohc 32v Ford V8 with matching 5 speed running to a beefed up transfer case for 4WD. I honestly think I spent more time designing the suspension and frame than the builders for this truck did the entire process. I trust slamming my B2200 through gravel, dirt, asphalt, etc corners all day long...I'm surprised Rich made it to the shop with this thing.

Determined Rich takes on jobs that not many would. That’s part of what makes his channel so interesting.
I would be kinda surprised if it takes Rich and gang more than 6 months to put that square body together, given that they have many other projects during the same time.
Within 7 months Rich and Gang may be lining that GMC Square body up at the track to run quarter mile.
Rich you should get really familiar with “LMC”. All your square body needs.
Careful though, I just rebuilt my 78 crew cab with a mix of junkyard and LMC parts, some dem good, some dem nosso good.

I watch several auto video's and this one is in my top 5. Rich has a great sense of humor. I spent 20 years in the military and 25 working as a contractor working on aircraft. You men talk and act like we did. We form a sense of brotherhood and watched each others back. There was no white and black. It was men and woman working together on a common cause. It's refreshing and very enjoyable.

I noticed something in your video. When your truck high centered and I saw that only the driverside was spinning, that's a indication that the POSI in the differential is done and needs to be rebuilt or replaced. If your posi was working correctly, you most likely wouldn't have gotten stuck because both sides are spinning. Love your channel and your new project! 😁👍

All their episodes are basically 30 minute commercials but you might be able to get in touch with some of their sponsors and get them to help sponsor this build. They have all sorts of sponsors that make original interiors, body panels, etc, like LMC Truck. You could get Summit Racing to sponsor a full engine build on that 454 or something.

Glad you decided to take on the squarebody. Having owned/bought/sold/built many many of these in my almost 50 years, lifted/lowered/bagged I can assure you that this one is on par for "project" squarebody's. They almost always have been passed around like this one and the craftsmanship varies along the way. Honestly, I have seen worse, way worse, albeit not for $12K. But we won't talk about that... Looking forward to watching the progress on this one. By far my personal favorite of all the crazy stuff you guys do, V8 Tesla 2nd. BTW: Nice Duramax.

I remember when he laughed at the chicken farmer for off loading a car wrong then this happens
They actually built the square bodies up till 91’ in crew cab, suburban, K5 and cab and chassis configurations, so if you’re only looking at 73-87 you’re missing out on the newest and best years of the crew cab finally you want. That front clip on your truck is actually an 88-91 piece itself.
LMC Truck has everything you need for restoring the square body. Can't wait to see how this turns out

The value of these trucks is absolutely insane. I’m the proud owner of 1987 GMC sierra classic short bed 4 x 4 my dad first purchased in 2001. We restored it five years ago and best I can tell it’s a $30,000 truck, that’s insane. It’s not for sale though.

Wait, wasn't the point of the squarebody to replace the Duramax because it needed repairs or something? But glad to see it's getting saved, At first I was thinking it was going to get chopped into scrap (not destroyed) but yeah, makes more sense (and mroe content) to tear it apart and *rebuild* it...
the Durmax is getting upgraded and won't be available when it goes 'under the knife' as it were.

Mexico this truck was customized in Juarez right next door to Texas by cheap american owner all that craftsmanship is very indicative he paid like 3500 or so and done in 2 days time if that for that years ago thought you would have figured that out in the first hour of having it.
The blue stud and nut are what we use onto the oil fields. It's a coating that keeps them from rusting.
