As a guitarist people ask me what it is about SRV that inspired me so much and I tell them it's not what he is playing, it's not musically technical, it's how he plays it. Like no other guitarist who's ever lived.
While there are many, many talented guitarists in the world. very few can be compared to SRV. He has something a tiny fraction of musicians throughout history have had. The ability to put himself into the music, and make you "feel" what he is playing. Is that really a guitar? Maybe, for him, it was just another part of his body or soul.... That man was something I could never even dream of being. We will miss you Stevie
SRV really stand on his own and was totally amazing when he 1st hit the big seen in the 80's. The only reason a small few make negative comments is because there are millions of people cloning his style and playing it out as some have put it "Stevie Ray Yawnism's". after awhile it's like hearing AC/DC or Led Zeplin, or running nails down a chaulk board. Stevie was the best man RIP..
🎸🎸A god guitar slinger of a one kind scorching riffs blues rock at a different level like no other the best can’t get better it’s in his fingers long before his time🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
And he's still wailing away as this video fades...endurance, powerful hands and love of his craft. Never seen anyone like this man. The guitar doesn't just make sound, it's his voice. Damn Stevie we muss u so bad
damnnn....I cannot find only one note without a feel and soul....how much will have to wait for another one with the half of him feel...........only him can put me out skin duck ! Stevie I miss you to much....
I was able to see the great SRV back in the day a few times. One of those times was at a small club in Boston, it was a hot summer night and the club was hot as hell and so was SRV, what a show, he will forever be missed, R.I.P.
Scott Gibson You sir are a luck SOB !!! When SRV I was about 7 years old.. My pops go me into him and that the first artist I bought tapes around.. Then I got into alternative etc.. Still by the time I got into SRV he was gone. SRV and my pops have passed and I thank my dad for getting me into SRV.. BAD ASS guitarist !! He's my fav.
Uhhh..No. almost, but..No. 2 guys were slightly ahead. Jimi and Rory Gallagher..mostly because of more variety of styles and tones..slightly more versatility..all around. Even thought I love this, I cant quite say he stumps jimi and Rory..he is definitely light years ahead of Clapton and the rest of them, for sure.
@DoraDeSplora Wonderfully put.........you are correct...............like Shakespear said, he was true to thyself.........therefore what came out of that vehicle of his was in fact what he was.............and.........yet it reached into a pop culture....... Contrast that with the today's incorporation of music into the a bottom line marketing imagine............

STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN THE BEST BLUES SINGER AND GUITARIST EVER.
His live extended jams are even better than the studio albums IMO

He was a living Channel directly hooked up to the source of music, he was a living incarnation of the blues…
What a difference Tommy Shannon makes on bass. He really propels Stevie's lines and provide the perfect context.
As a bass player myself yes you're 100 PCT correct. He plays extremely well in his own style

Then there are the extremely small few who actually make that style sound good in different context.
