former illustrator now an inspiring writer here; this is immensly helpful. started mapping out my own tips for myself because of your chats. so grateful for seasoned vets.
Interesting how the contrasts in writing styles really come through during these talks, I like how its obvious yall did not discuss this among each other before hand, it really allowed the different perpectives come to the surface. I am very much like Mike, I cannot hold a consistent schedule despite many attempts. I have been the most productive I have ever been by realizing this, and when I sit down to write and find myself fidgiting instead of writing, I just move somewhere else lol. My family never really knows where I will set up shop for the day/hour. I cant imagine always writing in the same place everyday I would go mad.
Glad POV got brought up. I thought hard about it when I wrote my first book and love where I landed in 3rd person LIMITED. Emphasis intentional, because my favorite books to read are the ones that feel like I'm right there, inside the character's head. (I think this contributes a lot to an author's voice.)
This episode embodied exactly why I love this podcast. You guys just gave so much perfect advice without any pressure. In fact, you guys are completely debunking a lot of bad advice out there. Thanks for once again helping me feel better that my struggles are completely normal. You guys are the best.
Great advice guys. So helpful to see awesome, published authors talking about how challenging it is to write a good book. It was easy for me to write my first book (for many reasons), but turning into a good one is taking some time. Helps a ton to have y'all taking time to help us out!
I was feeling guilty about taking the weekend off from writing before watching this but this episode helped me drop some* of that weight. *Still feel a little guilty tho! Great episode as always. Cheers.
The dynamic between Michael and Jed really benefits every discussion on the podcast. It’s excellent to see two well spoken points of view that aren’t aligned come into disagreement and then resolving in satisfactory way. I think it really benefits everyone involved to see how topics can be taken differently and then see how it can be discussed civilly to reach an optimal conclusion. Bravo
I think there is a lot of bad advice out there for new writers of both fiction and RPGs, so it's good that you are giving great advice, just need more new writers listening to your podcasts.

As a new writer this was one of the podcasts I’ve heard about the process I’ve been experiencing

We'll probably do a 'ignore this bad advice' episode at some point
@@Jed_Herne Good idea
Phenominal episode gents! Great advice. Its comfoting to know that the process is hard for everyone and we shouldnt be discouraged by that!

It's also on audible
Tell me a 10,000 word a day author (with those being great words like you mention) pls 🙂.
Yeah, you can have 10k 'good' words, but you're not gonna be doing anything new, so if it's a good book, is a separate question...
Ok I gotta know. Who are these creatures writing 10000 words a day? asking for a friend.
