    English translation of lyrics*:
    I don't want to be a slave
    love isn't a prisoner's collar
you are restricting a woman's soul
Love is to wish (others) well!

I wont let myself be bought
No heart is available for lease
I'm not something you can steal.
Love is to wish (others) well!

Love me, love me with kindness,
with that which resides in man's blood
It's not easy when the rooster crows
Love is to wish (others) well!

If you have someone you love,
you must love with all your honor.
For passion is an abrupt blaze
Love is to wish (others) well!

    I want to rebirth life.
In the same way the earth provides fruit.
So love me not straight to death.
Love is to wish (others) well!
    ...to wish (others) well...
    ----
    * Nynorsk is a pretty poetic (alternative Norwegian) language, so these lyrics are pretty open to interpretation and mine are probably not perfect (I'll admit I've been a rebel against Nynorsk most of my life and I won't use it in my day to day work, but poetically it's a very fine language and has room for a lot of wordplay compared to the more academic and German(/Danish) "bokmål." Still, one
language is better for day-to-day communication, the other for poetry).
Edit: The first verse has a sentence that definitely speaks of two things at once. "Bit ikring"is equal to binding something/someone with rope, but "Bitt ikring" is equal to biting around something. "Du bit ikring ei kvinnesjel" can be interpretted as "you're binding (around/encircling) a woman's soul" and/or "you're biting around a woman's soul." Both of them are probably valid, but I think the latter is pretty interesting considering the third verse. There we get "(love me) with that which resides in Man's blood". "Man's blood" makes me think of a certain line from various fairy tales: "I smell christian (man's) blood!" an ominous statement spoken by trolls and other underworld denizens when encountering humans. To find love in man's blood is to find that which makes someone a human instead of a beast or a monster.
The third and fourth verse can be interpreted differently, I see some translations go for "it's not night when the rooster crows" as 'nett' can perhaps be interpretted as night (normally spelled 'natt' but "specific plural" spelled 'nettene')... but nett is also a word that can be used as easy/dainty/tidy/orderly. It's also used as a noun for fishing nets, which I'd say is probably an easy/dainty/tidy way to fish compared to other options.
Overall I think that "it's not easy being kind when the rooster crows" is something most humans can empathize with, a long life of many early mornings and the stresses of life starts grinding into your bones.
The fourth verse has some subtext that can be interpreted differently, but I think it's meant to be a statement more than a question: Do you love someone, then you (must) love with all your honor. passion/lust is an abrupt blaze (a warning), love is to wish (others) well.
However, you could in theory go for a slightly different interpretation: Do you love someone, do you love them with all your honor? passion/lust is an abrupt blaze, love is to wish (others) well.
Personally I think the first interpretation is the closest to the intention, but both might be valid and the second might be intended subtext.
Finally, my interpretation of the most important sentence, "Kjærleik er å vilja vel!" / "Love is to wish (others) well!" is a bit of a compromise to make it ring better in English. The closest translation would probably be "Love is to will well", but English "will" and doesn't have the same context in my opinion. "Vilja"/ is a bit of a mix from old norse that is related to will, want, wish, willpower, character and desire. "Vel" is well/well-being/hearty/good health, so those two are still pretty closely related. I added the (other) mostly because it makes for a more logical English sentence and it is implied in the perspective of the storyteller who is speaking to someone about what their opinion about love is. Basically: Love is to help people do their best, let them have freedom, be a good person towards them even when it's hard.

      English version below
This is a very wrong claim! It is not at all correct to say that Nynorsk is a “poetic alternative” to Bokmål, when in fact the two (written) languages are officially equal and both are used in day-to-day communication. Nynorsk is the native language of hundreds of thousands Norwegians, and is even the official and administrative language in 90 muncipalities in our country!

I'm Greek... I do not know NOTHING about Norwegian culture and music. I sold my soul to this band . Jesus , how underrated and unjustified a world can be . That band should have been one of the pillars of music culture in the world.

Noen fordeler skal man vel ha her i livet. Særlig artig er de kommentarene man finner andre steder på nettet hvor noen folk fra Østlandet påstår at f.eks. "Ulveham" er på gammelnorsk eller norrønt 😉.
