At 6'5" I greatly appreciate this video/topic, thank you.
There is also the other problem, riding gear. We already have a hard enough time finding normal clothes in our sizes, aka size 14 or 15 shoes, 38W38L pants, and XL Tall shirts/jackets. These so called "big and tall" stores are really just for big people, not tall, as their shirt sizes almost never include longer tall versions, just various width sizes including more letter X's than an adult film, and pants always stop at 34L but go up to 60Waist.

Hey mate.. just a friendly suggestion from my 20 years of ridding experience. Save for your safety gears first, and then for the motorcycle. Remember, safety of you and others first, and then the machine. Besides, when you wear all the gears, you get that extra confidance on the turns. All the best budd.

In regards to the g310 gs for tall riders: not recommended. Seat height is talked about a lot, and it's pretty much irrelevant as far as riding comfort is concerned. The GS has a very short seat to footpeg distance. Not sure why people get wrapped up in seat height measured from the ground.

I'm 6'5'' and had the the MT-07 in driving school as well. Same thing, 45 minutes of riding per session. But I never had back pain, even when my back hurt from other issues, I could still ride no problem. Maybe because I had only one riding session a week, so it stretched to about 15 weeks for the required 15 hours? And I made an effort to avoid bumps and potholes, or just stand up on the pegs for a second when the road got bumpy. Still, the bike was comfortable for me at least in those 45 minute rides.
I really want to get Kawasaki Ninja 650 as my first bike, but I am concerned that I'm too tall, or that my legs are too long. We'll see...

Got on it 10 pm one night and just rode in to the night. Got to a mates place 7 hrs away and rested for a solid 3 hours and jumped back on it and rode back home. But the issue was, that 7 hour ride became a 10 hour one, as I had to get off stretch out every 20 - 30 minutes. So sold it and got a C90T, I can do 200 to 220 kms in one stretch ( that s when I need to refill) speed limit is 100 KPH. Edit: My knees just barely hit the handlebars on a CBR500. 2 inch bar risers would fix this though.
Edit2: Number 1, my bike, an 80s Honda Magna V4 with ~80hp. As Spite said, on the bleeding edge of what's okay, but it's what I have. It's the VFR that I couldn't get.

I'm 6'3 240# and my bike is really designed for someone maybe 5'8ish and 100# lighter, the seat is hollowed out for a shorter Rider to sit down low and I was always trying to scoot back, but it acted like a backrest making it impossible.. solution was to fill in the low area with additional foam and reupholster, now my seat is flattened out and I can scoot back as far as I like.. made all the difference and I can finally ride comfortably.

I absolutely agree with the last one. I'm 6'3 and my first proper bike was a K2 GSX-R 1000 (yeah I was a squid extraordinaire), which I loved to bits, but it really isn't for longer legged dudes with short arms like me, which I traded for 2002 VFR with raisers, made the bike A LOT more comfortable, but I miss the old Gixer dearly, those 160hp are nothing to laugh about, when it's about 420lbs wet, Now I have 110 and, well, it's enough, but I sometimes find myself on the power limit of the bike, which is frankly annoying, the gixer had in my eyes UNLIMITED POWA!!!

I remember dreaming of a cruiser bike until I found out that sport bikes are actually pretty damn comfortable for me to sit in (Im 6'3) but the main question for me would be: Since most sport bikes are the most comfortable to ride on high speeds, what is the best sport bike for a beginner that would be exceptionally comfortable to ride on low speeds as well? That would be easy to turn and hard to drop.

  • @Harry.Dresden
    @Harry.Dresden 4 года назад +1

I would love to see my bike get some love, it seems ever forgotten, the First Gen Yamaha FZ1, while obviously not a beginner bike, is the ultimate sleeper, it has the First Gen R1 motor, carbs all the way, it is also an upright naked/sport touring/street fighter/highway cruiser/commuter, all that with a factory rated 2.7 second 0-60 (quicker than the First Gen R1) and best of all, it gets cheap insurance rates (I pay $30/month at 23 with a year and a half riding experience). No one gives it the credit it deserves outside of the owners club forum.

Aftermarket shorty levers you can shift with 2 fingers! Only thing I want is rear sets so I can move the footpeg down and forward a little! Then it would be perfect I got the rest adjusted to my Er go’s!

Kawasaki Z900RS.. single most comfortable stock motorcycle I've ever sat on.. That seat is a dream, even though I want to sit on the strap behind where the rider is supposed to sit just to give me more room for my thighs and unbend my arms/legs a bit.. I'm not the biggest fan of the wide 4 cyl or semi-rear sets but otherwise the ergos are almost perfect.. The bars could be a bit wider and about an inch and a half higher but it definitely would be fine to ride stock for a while.. and OMFG that thing does not feel anywhere near as heavy as it is! I literally sat on the seat and put the kick stand up and leaned it over 45 degrees each way and sat it right back up with no issues and I've got a bad hip and knees! Oh and btw I'm 6'10 with around a 33 1/2-34 inch inseam when we're talking to the floor. (though I often wear 38-30 relaxed fit jeans because relaxed means the crotch hangs down a lot eating up leg inseam lol)
The Indian Scout is WAY too small for a tall rider, the seat height is incredibly low and the bike overall is really small. I tried to sit on one and my hip started screaming at me and I've sat on Harleys without issue.. other than they are ungodly heavy and make me feel like the tank is part of my taint. A Ducati Hypermotard is a much better fit for a taller rider and you can get them used CHEAP. (same with any 70's/80's UJM which you can easily pick up a low miles one for ~$2k) A Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 (Int650) would be another really good choice though budget in a new seat because the stock one really doesn't classify as a seat other than you can sit on it.. it just squishes all the air out if even a little woman sits on it.. oh and the best part is they are under $6k.

I’m 6ft with a dodgy back and the bike I’ve been most comfortable on is the triumph street scrambler. I love it to bits. Also felt the mt09 2021 pretty comfy, Vespa gts300 was wonderful, also loved my tu250x but no abs is a dealbreaker for me as I’ve got older and wiser. Actually quite comfy on the Honda grom too owned one of them but outgrew it really quick. Honda make such comfy stuff. Had an mt07 and moto guzzi vii as well at one point but could never quite get comfy on them, not sure why!

Hey ya, Papa Yam 'n Spiker!
For me (6"2'w/a 33" inseam), my '05 GSF1200s Suzuki Bandit fits fine. Part of my figuring out what scoot to get, after losing the ~400 lbs., was considering how a guy my size would fit.
My over 4 decade old knees would NEVER let themselves be hitched up far enough to get me on a sportbike. I couldn't even consider a bike with just a mildly aggressive seating position. It took over a year of research to find my "Ellie" & I am quite a happy dude.

6.49 here from Europe,I don't agree with some options here. This is my experience: I checked Kawasaki Vulcan 600, Indian scout bobber, I felt them ok ish but took some pictures with me on them, I look like that bear on bicycle, I sat also on iron 883 the bike feel much heavier an unstable but it had mid pegs I felt cramped but tryd to mimic forward pegs, looked a little better than Kawasaki and indian, I went on forty eight, same as Indian scout as look, but heavier, the other hd that I sat on was fxdr which is my dream bike, look and feel amazing, I still want to sit on fat Bob they didn't had it at that time in the shop. I,m still doing my course on a hornet 600 the bike feels easy to maneuver, but I feel cramped, to reach the rear break is painful
