I gave up on rock fishing for pelagics when I got married and totally forgot about how fun it is, after watching this and getting pumped I'm going to start again... so thanks for that. And stay safe.

Awesome session mate!I love to go to rock fishing but too much school and stuff!By the way Why is your rod has the black grip but the ones online have brown grips? Also, what does the blue runner mean?I want to shorejig for bonito kings, salmon Mac tuna off the rocks so which model should I get? Thanks mate!
Hey man, thanks for the kind words! Mine has the EVA grips, its the previous generation compared to the new ones which came out recently with the cork grips. Bluerunner is a blank thats targetting for pelagics, little faster action for faster paced jigging and a little stronger backbone to help steer predatorial fish. For an all rounder i'd go a PE3 model, plenty of go for all our species and you'll have some fun on some average sized kings, you'll have to play out some 85cm+ model kings however. Hope that helps!
This was this season, however I did go last week & we caught bonnies, macs & kings non stop (in sydney) just have to find where they are holding in terms of bait/water temps!
Haha too kind mate, we went out last week off a ledge in sydney catching bonnies, macs & kings.. and still wore shorts 21 degrees during the day in the sun with no winds.. was quite comfortable :)
Mine is the model prior.. flat fish in japan mean "flounder" they like to chase really big flounder using slow jigging method. Blue Runner typically mean pelagic, a bit more fast taper for a faster jigging style which has more backbone in the rod to steer the fish.
Hahah this time in the season, wear shorts, shirt and a jacket. Once the sun comes up it was a nice 25c day. I went out last week in the same 22c on the ledge and it actually felt quite warm!
@@FishingwithMarkiMark go on rub it in, it’s bloody Antarctic down here atm 🥶 last time on the boat I had a shit and a long sleeve and a hoodie and a jacket in the morning. Imagine me taking layers and cameras and life jackets off and on every time I went to move when the sun was out 😂😂😂
I know a quicker method to dispatch them. Tunas are really fragile and rely on that exact water oxigenation. If you bring a bucket and fill it with the water from those pools, the moment you put the bonnie (or any tuna) head first into the bucket they instantly die, instantly. And you don't risk any finger
Hey man, normally I just do a quick iikijime spike to the brain. If I don't have the tool on me I substitute it with a sharp knife. Quick & effective. Cheers!
Mate the amount of years I've been chasing kings, I can't say I've had a cracka day on a full moon chasing kings. The bite window has always been super small unless something gets them fired up for the day. In saying that when I do go out on the occasional night fish, I've noticed the kings be active at night on full moons and caught some night kings on those nights! Hope that helps
@@FishingwithMarkiMark thanks for the response mate. That's an pretty interesting observation, I haven't personally caught enough to make a comment, just been told full and new moon was suppose to be best time for pelagic.
Anytime mate, most def. Everyone has their own take on it, but thats just data I've collected over the years in addition to friends that target them also, we all came to the same conclusion without influencing each other too much. People do say a couple days before/after a full/new moon sets them off a little - I've noticed that a little but not as much as them shutting down on a full moon.

Great vids mate well done 👍
Thank you so much mate, love your work - big inspo!!
Why does your rod has a black grip but the other ones I found online has a brown grip?
Hey man, the brown grip is the cork version they have just come out not long ago, they dont make the EVA grip (black ones) anymore. Hope that helps.
@@FishingwithMarkiMark So is that the latest model? Also, what does the flat fish and blue runner models mean? Thanks

I’ve got a location for you, try blues point reserve in Sydney. You’d catch a couple kings if you use the right lures
Hey man, I've done a couple of sessions there, great spot.. got some videos to release too but I've been loving rock fishing
What’s the right lures?
