Thanks for watching! Remember if your not 3.4 swapped like me you dont need to do the 10ohm resistor mod.
This is why I came to the comments to ask why you did that. Thanks
Thanks for your time and info!!!!
Awesome. Love that your truck has a red interior too. Mine is a 90 4x4 22RE metallic red on red. Red interiors on these trucks apparently pretty rare
I LOVE the red interior.
glazed right over how you unhooked the speedo cable from the rear of the cluster !
Good shit , I’ll come back to this.
Wow man, your channel is AMAZING. I am going to be eating up a lot of these videos. This gave me a great starting point for my cluster swap for my '93 T100.
I am, however, a bit lost about things like that digital display you have. Also, I saw in another video that you somehow got OBD2 into this truck and I am just missing so much contextual knowledge on all of that. Can you suggest any resources for learning about things like that?!?!
My truck at this point had a newer motor, and used a newer ECU. The newer motor used a OBD2 diagnostic port. Older motors like in your 3.0 93 T100 does not have a option to use OBD2
@@DirtGarage Ah ha! That clears it all up.
Thanks for the fast reply!
Will this work for 4 cylinder, RE engine?
Hey man I just bought a 1993 pickup with a 3.4l swap but that thing needs a lot of work. Does your shift lever sit towards the left side? Also does your truck shake when you let go of the clutch and its starting to grab?
Hey thanks for the comment! My shift lever is off to the left, but in the normal spot it wants to sit. Also my truck does not have any sort of shake related to the clutch.. Sounds like you got some problems to sort out! Maybe check the trans/engine mounts.
Dirt Garage Thanks, my shifter maybe bent because in 5th gear it looks like what 1st gear would be in my other truck that has a 22re in it 4x4. This truck has a body lift on it to clear the 3.4l
So I just did a 2rz swap in my 86 4Runner and ordered a “ gauge” style sender but my oil gauge gos up to 3/4 just turning my key on and stays there 😊
Hello friend, a pleasure to greet you from Honduras. I tell you that we have carried out the project to change the engine of a 1995 4runner with 3vz to a 5vz 3.4 almost everything goes well but when assembling the tachometer it does not mark the revolutions because we have not connected the wiring for it, with these indications it should work the revolutions?
I have a question if anyone can give me insight. I did this cluster swap I got mine out of a 1994 T100 yes they fit the 92-94 pickups as long as it’s electric they have cable driven one too but anyways. With the original stock cluster temperature would stay really low id move about a few inches from the cold line. After the cluster swap the temp gauge goes half way.
Do you keep track of the mileage manually then?
Bookmarked for my future swap. Great vids.
I actually adjusted the mileage to match mine. Did not include in this video. But possibly will on a future video.
I just about got my 3.4 swap complete, I would like to install that same oil sending unit, before I put the motor back in. I'm swapping clusters just like your video. Is that a 3.0 sending unit?
hello, I have a toyota 22re pickup, I changed the cluster for a toyota v6 3.0 upgrade, my question is the following since this cluster has a speedometer cable and mine is electric what to do when the speed gauge does not work
Can I tap into that black wire to install an aftermarket tach? Or does it only work if I use another oem gauge cluster?
Hey man I have 89 I am about to swap out the gauge cluster and I am not sure if my truck was pre wired for the tach however previous owner put in an after market tach and oil pressure gauge. But not sure if I need to do the ten ohm like you had to with your truck...
So how would hook up the tach on my 4.3 chevy swap 91 sr5 pickup? Advanced adapters has a pretty thorough guide for the major aspects of this swap but they leave out some of the finer details. When talking about the tach they just say "when swapping a gm v6 your tach should work without modifications" but that doesn't tell me how to hook it up! Haha
What’s up I have a 94 Toyota with a dual coil 3rz swap. just swapped a sr5 cluster in and I don’t know where to run the tach wire to my motor. Thanks
Hola me puedes ayudar tengo un 22r modeló 93 sencillo extracab pero la aguja del reloj de presión de aceite no sube y ya le puse tres bulbos que sera
I have the 22re engine would the work if i swap the tech from a V6 4runner???
Yes. Your tach signal is from a different spot. But everything else is the same as my video.
will any 10k resister work? or what wattage should i use? 3.0 to 3.4 thanks!
Honestly not 100% sure. I used these ones amzn.to/2QdZAWA And it's working great!
It has to be a 1/4 watt 10k ohm resistor
Also I have no lights in the dashboard
How come the tach adjustment knob doesn't work for the 3.4 swap?
It does
Im confused. Whats the benefit of adding the resistor vs adjusting the knob using a secondary tach? @@DirtGarage
Y no ocupe modificar nada. Solo conecte el tacometro y cambie la iluminacion que trae por unos hiper leds.
disculpa tengo un tablero de 5vz en mi 3rz y las rpm son mas bajas, tendrá alguna solución?
At about 9:15 in this video here I talk about how to adjust your tach: ruclips.net/video/07pk--OWCQs/видео.html
Do I need to add the oil presuse sensor in a Toyota pick up 91? I just got a cluster like yours. Thanks in advance.
If it comes with the simple tach with just the speed temp and fuel then yes. I have a question is it a 22re or a 3.0
@@matexf4c Its a 22RE engine. The only problem is that I couldnt get the tach to work
@@bigpilouh7256 I thought I replied my bad but there’s a video by a Chanel called garage build Hondas he has a link that shows you where you have to solder on the rpm cluster
@@matexf4c I saw that video. But if I didnt undertand wrong the resitor only applies whe the swap is from 8cly to 6cly; am I right? btw thanks for the support
@@bigpilouh7256 yeah that is correct no need to solder anything. I think I figured out why the rpm aren’t working I finally swapped mine out and got it running I’ll make a video on it right now and post it on my channel so you can see it
Do you have to do the resistor mod for a 3.0 application?
Nope! Just if you have 3.4 swap!
@@DirtGarage oh sweet! Thank you!
I need the link for the gas guage everything works except the gas guage
My gas gauge not working had nothing to do with the cluster swap. My fuel level sending unit failed in tank. When I replaced that it started working perfect.
But it was working parshally not giving the correct reading but the needle work now this one nothing but I am going take off the back and check it
@@owenfalconer9398 So I once had a issue where my gas gauge was not working and me temp gauge read waaay higher than normal.. This was caused by a bad ground. Maybe your issue? Or perhaps you picked up a bad cluster?
@@DirtGarage well maybe but it's hard to get originally but from the junk yard it's going a $100us
How do you fix the gas guage
I think his issue was with the sending unit not telling the gauge how much fuel was in the tank. It isn't an issue with the cluster because the fuel gauge is plug and play. His issue is in the tank. A new sending unit would fix that problem.
My issue was the fuel sending unti! as Patrick mentioned. Replaced the sending unit and it was fixed!
Am going to try changing the sending unit because mine is the same plug n play so am going to change the sending unit and see
A/c wiring????
Sorry, I can't help you there, no experience yet!
@@DirtGarage it's all good I'm bout to sit down and figure it out I'll do a write up and send it
I have a 2wd 22re with a electric speedometer and no tach is it possible to do this swap
Yeah. Same process
