Yes, great interview and so clear as promised. Not to be picky but as a man who founded a multimedia firm that's motto is "Puttibg Muscle in Media" as well as working general media projects since thec1980s why was all that dead air space left in? An editor would have omitted that useless footage that mainly only provided a back view of Steve's slightly pink balding spot, when the thinning hair was so well concealed from the front view head shots. I've worked with some that would have "taken my head off" for leaving in unflattering shots which contained no audio content whatsoever so I really don't get the point. A few edits would have been easy to do, and improved the presentation. George and John were doing research for one of the Steve Reeves books and they were at Steve's home gym. Steve put them through a workout on his Universal Centurion multi-station gym and at 68-70 years old just destroyed the 2 of them. He was Hercules, still, even at that time of his life.

Steve Reeves is my childhood hero, the best Hercules ever. I'm so glad to see this interview with Steve, he inspired many generations to be bodybuilders. Thanks for this video.
As a boy, Steve Reeves was my hero. He inspired me to start lifting weights at 13-years-old in 1961, and I continue to lift weights to this day, but now focus on less weight but higher reps -- like Steve advised in the interview. Thanks for posting that interview. I told my wife about it, now she's going to watch it, as she always told me Steve (in his prime) was the best looking man in the world.
What a SHOCKER this is. The algorithim has just dropped this in my feed. I accepted the fate that we would never have personal footage of Steve Reeves like this ever. He seemed much too introverted to do a sit down interview like this and sadly there just aren't enough enthusiasts to really track down material on his life. The ghost of Steve Reeves has returned and we are bestowed knowledge that would have been forgotten. Thanks to everyone involved for digitizing this gem and archiving it on RUclips. The life and ways of Steve have become a little less mysterious.
I'm just so glad that I became only vaguely acquainted with who he was a few years ago and then only within the last couple of months started getting into the history of Bodybuilding and into him. Because if I had been into him for a much longer time, I would have been *dying* to see something like this. Of course, there are tons of bodybuilders over the years who have been really attractive, because they can't make it to the top levels without having good genetics. But among all of those, I haven't seen one yet who is so captivating, and there are plenty of others who do captivate very well, themselves - just not as well as he does. From his speech patterns from both this video and multiple others I've seen, I think that some of the reason that we don't have much in the way of candid footage of him is because he was really, really smart. I don't think it was anything he displayed for people. But for him to have led the life that he did, he would have had to have been really smart. It's the way that he rushes together some words and phrases - I think to just get them out of his mouth and be done with answering questions. He doesn't seem like he was ever much for being rude, but I do think that he was very practical and just wanted to live his life and not be too concerned with mundane things. I think that there was some very high-level intellect that he had that he kept hidden.
@@williamnoel1682 Your comment is like hearing myself talk. I too first discovered Steve around 2017 but only really started getting into him for the past year -- something about him is intensely captivating. It seems like a lot of people have been flocking to him lately, perhaps as an inspiring escape from all the bullcrap we see today. His speech patterns have also struck some kind of chord in my observations too. He is a very practical man as you've said, but as an introvert myself, I can tell Steve is introverted. I've been meaning to read his books, I'd like to see if he expresses himself more thoroughly through writing. There are so many things I picked up on in this interview that I've been meaning to note in the comment section. One of them is he is peculiarly consistent -- this goes back to you calling him practical. So much I could say about this enigmatic icon.

We need more people like Steve Reeves in bodybuilding. How amazing it would be to bring the health, wellness, and intelligence aspect back to the sport. He and Mike Mentzer were such amazing figures in the sport.
Thank you so much for sharing this amazing interview with us! It’s absolutely phenomenal. It’s truly an honour to be able to watch this wonderful interview of the legend Steve Reeves. I greatly appreciate it. I really admire his approach to training and life. 🙏
The man was certainly level-headed and WAY ahead of his time to balance "making money" against taking on additional stress and how that would take it's toll on health. It seems that he learnt to know his limits. I still have his (well read!) book on building the Classic Physique on my bookshelf and it was certainly influential to my training. Thanks for sharing!
Exactly! He came and did what he set out to do and then lived his life on his terms. Agreed - that book is a masterpiece and has everything one needs to know about bodybuilding. Thanks! - Scott
Growing behind the Iron Curtain, Steve Reeves was my idol along with Cassius Clay and Bobby Fisher. Bodybuilding taught me discipline, gave me self confidence and excellent health attitude to last me my whole life. Thank you, Steve! Also, I might add, my body-builder physique won me a number of girls I would not have had a chance with otherwise.
"Bodybuilding taught me discipline, gave me self confidence and excellent health attitude to last me my whole life. " And that is why so many of us do it (bodybuilding) and are grateful to Steve for being one of the early pioneers. Thanks! - Scott
This is what a true “alpha” male looks like. Level-headed, confident in himself, humble, kind, etc., not what you see more on social media; a bunch of insecure men masking it through aggregation and insults.
I can't tell you how happy i was to find this interview of Steve Reeves. I grew up with Steve in my home, i mean on television, but to me he was family. I am so happy to find out that he was as kind and gentle in person as he was on screen.I will say what Steve will not about himself because he is so sweet. He was extremely handsome and a warmth and trust came off that screen to the viewer. I remember when passed away my heart sank, and i felt that i lost a brother. Somethings like kindness, justice and humanity cannot be faked. When he stood between the lions and the christians, well that was Steve Reeves in my heart. I know he is in Olympus with that which made us. I hope one day i get to tell him how much he helped to shape my sense of justice, my spirit and soul. There will always be the one by which all others aspire to be.
Great interview with Steve, it's great to hear his views on health and training. A man I look up to and have huge respect for the life he lived and the impressive physique he built. 👏💪

At about the exact time of this interview, my husband, a Hollywood talent agent was working with Carolco Pictures on signing Steve to a co-starring role in a film called, "Crusade" starring Arnold. The premise was that an older warrior priest during the Crusades was to hand down his sword to his younger counterpart. My husband had convinced the owner of the production company, Andrew Vajna, that this would be a match made in heaven since Reeves and Schwarzenegger were both movie stars and the most famous bodybuilders who ever lived. My husband spoke often with Steve on the phone, NY to California and Steve gave him his blessing. Unfortunately, Carolco went bankrupt and the movie was never made.
Very interesting. Thank you! Something that most of us never knew. For others reading this, Andrew Vajna, along with Mario Kassar, would be responsible for movies such as Rambo, Terminator 3, Total Recall, and others. Wow! - Scott
@@SteveReevesHercules Hi Scott, Nice of you to respond. I just spoke to Roger who is out of town and he added that Paul Verhoeven of "Total Recall," "Robo Cop" and "Basic Instinct" fame was also on board with the idea and set to direct. At this time, Roger had discovered and was representing a young bodybuilder by the name of Andrew Bryniarski who had just logged a co-starring role in the Disney/Touchstone film, "The Program" and he had recently played Christopher Walken's son in Warner Bros. production, "Batman Returns."
@@vancap9725 Well, wow, of course I'm very familiar with those movies and that Director. "The Program" was a very popular movie with my crowd and Andrew's infamous scene was one of the most memorable parts of that film. THANKS for taking the time to expand. Really nice of you! - Scott

Glad to hear it! At one time in his life, Steve talked about moving to Brazil and operating a ranch there. I was in Vitoria, Brazil in 2007 with Lee Priest for a week. Absolutely loved it. Beautiful country, friendly people.
I did bodybuilding throughout the 60s and 70s and Steve Reeves was the pinnacle, the ideal to us all. Later maybe Frank Zane who maintained that aesthetic. Only one Steve Reeves. Great interview. Thank you. So inspiring.
“Symmetrical physique and noble face” he hit the nail on the head there. A unique face really does enhance the body, i think this is often overlooked. For example arnold also had quite a unique facial structure, and that subconsciously & strongly appeals to people i think
I love how candid and honest Steve is with his genetics. Like you could emulate his diet and routine to the letter but since he had outlier genetics, it would be impossible to ever look the way he looks.
Thank you for sharing this video for anyone to view. By his words, demeanor, tone, questions asked & answered you get a perspective of Mr. Steve Reeves never shown or known to general public. I even got several tips from this interview. Thank you again for sharing this icon of bodybuilding and movie star.
Thanks, man, i've been his fan since forever, and in this video i felt i was in the room with him, he responded here pretty much all the questions i would ask him if i had the chance to meet him. This video made my day.
What a positive humble man. I worked for Clancy Ross in the late 70’s at his gym. I had heard alot of the old stories back when oakland/alameda were the mecca of physical culture. Thanks for sharing.
He was a humble man that Even though he was a successful bodybuilder, he did not want to write a course on bodybuilding just to tell you he knew everything about it and you should listen to him because everything he says is true, stating that his prime was passed and that (probably) everything about bodybuilding had been said at that point. Now days someone just train a little and open a YT channel and they are experts in fitness, bodybuilding and nutrition just because they lost a few pounds and got a little definition.
I completely agree and I'm glad that others feel the same way. It opens up a completely new version of Steve Reeves that has never been seen. I heard the phone call interviews, the other interviews, the speeches but this in my opinion tops them all. It'll be interesting to see how the folks in their 70s and up feel about it once they discover this video. Thanks!

So much I could say about this enigmatic icon.
what a class act...this is the guy...these young bodybuilders really need to learn his philosophy. with guys dying so young nowadays in bodybuilding there needs to shift to guys like Steve to gain knowledge from.. he was the real deal..an impressive human being...he exudes an aura of dignity...wow.....knowledge just flows from him
We need more people like Steve Reeves in bodybuilding. How amazing it would be to bring the health, wellness, and intelligence aspect back to the sport. He and Mike Mentzer were such amazing figures in the sport.
Arnold personifies this.
Gentlemen, I recommend going back and rewatching this a listening to everything this man says. 😎
Good advice! - Scott
Thank you, Steve. You had a noble look because you were noble inside. We will keep you alive in us.
Well said!
There's an old saying about Steve Reeves, "Women wanted him & men wanted to be him".

@@SteveReevesHercules love your channel on Steve reeves, fantastic thankyou 👍 .
We, who remain, should promote Steve Reeves, so as he never gets to be forgotten.
Steve’s first wife, Sandra, told me personally that Steve would be pleased and proud of what we’re doing to keep his legacy alive!
Thank you so much for sharing this amazing interview with us! It’s absolutely phenomenal. It’s truly an honour to be able to watch this wonderful interview of the legend Steve Reeves. I greatly appreciate it. I really admire his approach to training and life. 🙏
Our pleasure!
This is amazing. Thank you so much for sharing. I have a huge poster Steve signed to me back in the day and have always been a big fan.
That is awesome! You're welcome!
Thanks! - Scott
This is gold. A noble face and a noble man. Thanks for posting!
Glad you enjoyed it! - Scott

What an amazing interview. This is the best interview of Steve. The video and audio is excellent and Steve is speaking clearly. Awesome
Glad you enjoyed it! Pat and Tony did an amazing job. = Scott
And that is why so many of us do it (bodybuilding) and are grateful to Steve for being one of the early pioneers. Thanks! - Scott
This is what a true “alpha” male looks like. Level-headed, confident in himself, humble, kind, etc., not what you see more on social media; a bunch of insecure men masking it through aggregation and insults.
Steve was the best as a guy and as a bodybuilder. What an inspiration he was and still is.
👉Steve Reeves king of the naturals.
Amen!
Thanks for sharing - this makes my day! - Scott
Maybe the most handsome man in history.
Some were bigger, some were stronger, none were better than Reeves. He always made it look so easy.
This is very monumental, this should be national news.
Great interview with Steve, it's great to hear his views on health and training. A man I look up to and have huge respect for the life he lived and the impressive physique he built. 👏💪

i always was impressed with the beard they pasted on him in Hercules. No, that was just his real beard! That's all you need to know about this guy--he was the most perfect looking man you could imagine. Thanks for this interview, it was really fun to see him again. God bless him.
I loved Steve Reeves, he was a true gentleman.
A truly amazing interview, a great man... and a great interviewer! Steve Reeves changed my life as he inspired me to take up bodybuilding in my youth! I am 70 years old now and still train with weights.

Wow!

Hi Scott,
Nice of you to respond.
- Scott
Steve Reeves a real hero for any man to look up to. As far as I was always concerned as a lifetime natural bodybuilder myself, Steve was always and will always be the greatest bodybuilder in the history of the sport.

“Symmetrical physique and noble face” he hit the nail on the head there. A unique face really does enhance the body, i think this is often overlooked. For example arnold also had quite a unique facial structure, and that subconsciously & strongly appeals to people i think

What a positive humble man. I worked for Clancy Ross in the late 70’s at his gym. I had heard alot of the old stories back when oakland/alameda were the mecca of physical culture. Thanks for sharing.
That's awesome, Rich. I would love to hear some of those stories if you ever have a moment to share. - Scott
This is a real treat. Thank you for sharing.

Steve Reeves una leggenda intramontabile!
When he said no one had ever asked him to write a bodybuilding book. I was shocked.
Me, too. Milton T. Moore, Jr wrote the books, One Of A Kind and A Tribute but those were biographies loaded with pictures of Steve's life. Powerwalking came out in 1982/1983 but that was not about bodybuilding. This interview was in 1994 so he must have gotten busy with Building The Classic Physique right away.
