@@rwwbeast1 typical super trucker response so I’ll fire one back to ya: you’d have to go into trucking with enough money or stay with a company to save up enough to buy a tractor and box trailer. Not to mention maintenance (tires, oil, etc.), insurance and the risk of possible down time for issues with the trailer or tractor and what shop you go to to get it fixed, how long you’re down for, and how long it takes them to fix it (availability of parts). Stuff like this usually starts around $100-150k for some newer stuff (standard tractor and non-reefer box trailer). You can get used things which does work, but potentially more risk of downtime. Used reefer is about 20-50k, used flatbed 10-40k, and a used dry/box will run you about 10-40k. There’s a lot of stuff to consider and it ain’t cheap. No giveaways either unless you’re giving one away?? Sign me up if so as long as it’s not a rolling death trap (for someone else and/or myself).
Better to be safe than sorry when backing and parking. I love how you always do a thorough research of your drop/delivery points and all possible routes, the extra effort always pays off.
My company runs a lot of water heaters and parts for ao so For future reference if you ever go back to this particular ao smith. Turn left at the 2nd light when you exit off of 26 then turn right at the only light you come to go across the tracks It’ll take you to the “3rd” guard shack lol save you some time and less hassle. Happy trucking. Stay safe
I use to work at that place when it was American water heater. Also dated a stripper that lived near there. Thanks for bringing all the memories back haha. Also when it says I’m headed west from Cumberland gap to Johnson city. That’s actually east.
I absolutely love this intro song Dave you definitely have been practicing your singing while you were away I’m proud of you the song matches your vocals perfectly especially that word Tennessee part soo good and the iconic lines. You say in this video. Thank you
Travis Tritt, Modern Day Bonnie & Clyde- "We met at a truckstop, Johnson City Tennessee...." that tune always pops in my head. Maybe that tune will retune you too!😀
Be safe and be well Dave! Thanks for the video. 🥰 This is definitely one of the most interesting places you've delivered Edit: There's a bot in the comments pretending to be you lol.
i drive local for a company and we have crappy international LT day-cabs that don't even have fifth wheel release. have to do if manually and it sucks tbh. especially coming from a company that had trucks with air fifth wheel release which made dropping the trailer easier.
Hey Dave, that's ok - it's first time for everything, KW. T680 does have that feature. I want to share with you that that control that releases the TTU wheel, thé truck have To te running. It tanker 30 sec. In order to uncouple. from the trailer.
Haha, that makes sense as to why you posted the Spotify playlist. Johnson City got you in the mood for music. You should definitely have a listen to ‘Six days on the road’ by Sawyer Brown and maybe even add it to you playlist if you like it! Think of you every time I hear it. Keep on Truckin’, Dave! :)
Speaking of Big G. A fine company where they, also, get you home every week. I worked there for 6 years in the early 2000's. Unfortunately, I had to quit trucking because of health issues. In some ways I miss it, but I'm liking my new career.
I didn't even have GPS back in the day. All I had was an atlas and some crappy load notes written by someone who told me to turn left at the cherry tree...
Should see how far us flatbed guys have to reach to connect/disconnect airlines. they are in the center of the trailer se we are on the catwalk everytime.
I admire old or older truckers, one can only imagine what it was like all those years ago, today however those places have changed dramatically, both the traffic and locations have changed just as dramatically if not more, I used to use road maps when I was younger when going on “road trips” I spent 44 years in the automotive industry, if I learned anything about life, about my hobby of bass fishing, about technology in general, is that technology advances, I still use maps (Google or paper) because new technology is never 100 percent accurate. They have driven through all of these changes, we haven’t, they don’t divulge their experience easily (I don’t blame them) we on the other hand must seek answers elsewhere in a lot of instances and electronics become a key player in how we go about familiarizing ourselves with new locations. Oh yeah and PS, when you release the latch on the 5th wheel, make sure your brakes are pulled and your trans is in neutral as well or it may not work, our day cab VNR’s are the same.
Dave Man I've been to that place so many times that was one of my dedicated accounts when I worked at heartland Express 🤣🤣🤣🤣 that place can be confusing the first time you go
Your in my neck of the woods I've been to this place a few times when I was driving for Danny Herman Trucking.. I guarantee I'll eventually run into you at Domtar in Kingsport I've been seeing yalls trailers alot there lately is right next to Johnson city
@@edwardtyler653 yes they reopened the plant back in February they switched from producing white paper products to now brown paper products I work for a contractor we got their freight contract hauling their products but they have a decent amount of other Trucking contractors coming through assisting with freight
Bro, it makes me so nervous that you release the 5th wheel before the landing gear is down. I use PALS for coupling and SLAP for uncoupling. P-in, A-ir Lines, L-anding Gear, S-afe to move. / S-afe Surface to drop, L-anding Gear Down, A-ir Lines Disconnected, P-in Pulled. Using this acronym and doing it the same way every time will keep you from dropping one someday, IMHO. Great video, Dave!
I have to say, you are the only trucker out there gives a crap. From what I’ve observed, a lot of the truckers out there in todays world are the most inconsiderate people on the planet. To the ones that are out there doing the right think, thank you.
The one on right is a dedicated truck GPS. The phone on left is using Google Maps to give alternative info, such as traffic and satellite views not available on the other one. Each serves a purpose because neither alone gives complete info he wants.
Do you think that reverse beeper bothers other truckers when backing at truck stops while they are resting? Also what type of reverse beeper is it? It sounds kinda quiet!
Most gps made for trucks are loaded with all truck routes and the none truck routes are typically marked so that way when you put the address it will flag it
And if all else fails consult a trucker atlas. I typically keep one with me if I need it. They do update them as well to keep up with the current routes
Hey Dave just wondering what you think of your VOLVO,we have a couple of new cab over units at work and the leg room if your 6ft and taller isn't good no room to stretch on interstate runs ,I was wondering I'd the bonnet units were better ,and do you have Cummins or VOLVO engine we have all VOLVO engine and trans no Jake brake have a VOLVO retarded instead ,I'm not much of a European truck fan like American trucks ,do you miss the Kenworth ,I would ,great ride along mate Cheers Kym Adelaide
Its always a sad day when you have to drop a trailer you actually like. Thanks for the video Dave!
and the trailer you pick up after that is always ass and has 3 different leaks
Just buy a truck and trailor and you dont need to drop ur trailer
@@rwwbeast1 that sounds expensive how many trucks and trailers have you bought?

The Volvo fifth wheel you have to lift up the handle and pull
Trucking what money comes
yo is the outro highway in Oregon I84 ?
Hi Dave
Did you forget the lock on the trailer?
I live near there Dave I live in gate city
One day I had to deliver to a farm with no truck routes on every corner made no sense
11:35 I like how they give u zero instructions
And whoever is building all these tight docks have never drove a damn semi
At about 15:10 my man started being thirsty
Which truck feels like it has more power? Volvo or the kenworth?
3 sucurity guards. There pritty well sucured. Lol

Now, let's see...🤔 Is Darius Rucker "Hootie" or "The Blowfish?" 😆😇
darn no drive through spots.😂
I think you would be good at a mobile game called "my trucking skills"
Is it advisable to use cruise control in a tractor-trailer?
yes, as long as road conditions are good. if its rain or snow then no.
How do you know if there is a no truck route when planning your trip?
Most gps made for trucks are loaded with all truck routes and the none truck routes are typically marked so that way when you put the address it will flag it
best thing to do is run ur truck GPS and google maps sometimes what i will do is edit my route the same as google maps and it’ll tell u
