I really wish I could play the legacy version - the nostalgia is unreal and the bedrock version is basically unplayable, but I got my switch after the cut off date and so I don't have any way to play that version when I'm not at home.
So annoying. I hope they re-release it as the current version is just too demanding. Hope we get a physical version too
Pretty sure you can somehow install the minecraft nintendo switch edition NSP or XCI file somewhere on the internet onto your switch or you can install a Nintendo Switch emulator on android and emulate it on that if you want.

@@M3SSRB well... unfortunately I haven't gotten a chance to try and sideload a game onto a Nintendo Switch yet. I only installed Minceraft: Nintendo Switch Edition to a Nintendo Switch emulator on my phone. So I do not have experience to provide you with an in-depth explanation, sorry.
Just try do something "simple" like change your character clothes and youll see how broken this new version is

I want the OG Nintendo Switch Edition but i got my Switch in November 14th 2018 so it was Too Late. I have two options:
- Search for an Account that got it and play Always-Online
- Emulate it

My friend homebrewed his Switch and managed to get it that way too, but I know most people aren't comfortable with modding their switch which makes sense.
I don't want to mod my switch (even tho I have a modded Wii U)
I'm one of the players that owns Nintendo Switch Edition, and I gotta say that it still holds up a little, especially by the japanese community. Minigames are kinda dead, but if you play at certain times you can probably find at least one or two active games. Adding more players that own this version helps alot simply because more worlds you can join. Most people go to PvP worlds, but there are also people doing SMPs, Grinding Servers and Creative Only.
Overall, I think it's a pretty solid game, despite being outdated, way better than the Switch Bedrock Edition.

Hey man, I used to play nintendo switch legacy edition everyday when I was in middle school. Back then in like 2018-2022 it used to be the most fun place ever. Every player would have their own online world which were like servers for us. People made pvp worlds like you said and that included me. Now it is dead and I've made some friends during that time too. I feel like someone should document the history of this version of Minecraft.
They should make Bedrock and Legacy both available, and if you buy one of them you get the other one for free. And also make physical copies of Legacy again and FINALLY have Legacy Switch Edition physically. They could even release physical bundles, a cardboard case that has both physical copies of the game bundled in it.
That is honestly the way they should do it! That way, you can play the og if you prefer it or play the new one for crossplay! That also would give them an excuse to relist and update legacy. Sadly, it will likely never happen. But hey, we can dream!
@@MarioMario_1981 I’m not even saying they need to update Legacy Edition, I’m just saying that I want it to at least be available again. Sure on other consoles you can buy an old physical copy of it, but the Switch never got a physical version of Legacy Edition.

The problem with that is that they won't keep updating legacy versions. It would have been a lot cooler if bedrock edition never existed and they made legacy work with java servers instead

Before the whole Bedrock edition split this was the definitive non Java Edition version to play because of its handheld capabilities but the performance has just gone to crap now

Funny thing is bedrock did work kinda well in switch and now its just worse. I hope they re-release nintendo Switch Edition and put it on physical
I don’t really care about actually being able to play this version, I only want to access it to transfer my worlds from Wii U to Switch so I can play them without the risk of my Wii U breaking and my worlds that I spent years on being lost. I wish there was some other way I could get my Wii U worlds onto a newer device.
You wouldn't be able to anyways. World conversion was removed when Wii U updated to 1.13. When Microsoft did better together, they chose not to update the Xbox One or Switch versions to 1.13, but did update 360 and Wii U to give those players one last bit of content since they wouldn't be getting bedrock, but that came with the ability to transfer your worlds being gutted from the game since it wouldn't work with the old gen systems now being more up to date than current ones at the time.

Oddly enough, the Wii U Edition is superior because it still received the Update Aquatic (Java 1.13) while the Switch Edition stopped at World of Colors (Java 1.12).
PS4 was supported until Village & Pillage (Java 1.14) for specific reasons. I do think all Legacy Console versions should have been updated to Village & Pillage.

Bedrock not only runs terrible on every possible platform, it's made in different language and engine and lost that legacy/java vibe and feel, missing the immersion. Before getting Steam Deck, I played both x360 and PS3 edition, enjoyed every second of it. Luckily now I set up the Java with shaders and it's the good old minecraft again.
I was wondering why it felt like sh*t on the Series S and then noticed it has the Microsoft feel to it, and we know Microsoft doesn't include soul in their software and hardware, sadly.
The legacy version just feels more like classic Minecraft

Funnily enough I actually got Bedrock Edition offered to me for free because I bought the og Minecraft console/legacy edition off the Eshop. I really hate that they delisted it. But from a business standpoint, it makes sense? it makes a lot of sense actually. It was probably the only way to force people to buy their new game instead of the old one obviously. I just jope they can relist this game someday. In some cases I do think Bedrock edition is great at what it does too. It hosts a market place you can buy skins and worlds, now even addons. You get command blocks which makes a lot of stuff easier in creative mode. You can host servers or join public ones with crossplay. I think the only bad things Bedrock has going for it is just the bad UI and laggy load times. That just comes from the console not being powerful enough I think.
As for the Switch Edition. I actually bought it as soon as I could when it came to the Eshop in 2017 since I always wanted a way to play Minecraft portibly. I still have the game to this day and I still regularly visit it. I love the minigame modes on this version (which bedrock doesn't have :/) and the servers to those are still up to this day. Overall this is a very solid game. Again its sad it was delisted. making in unplayable to others everywhere. I'm glad I got it before it was delisted. It gives me a reason to show my switch friends a screenshot of my game folders and have it under "games that don't exist" lmao
honestly same, i feel like bedrock gets worse with every update. im waiting for the day they relist minecraft switch edition (or mayhaps accidentally relist it). for now im sticking to the wii u version
I played in class yesterday on my switch and the sound delay was god awful, happened multiple times.

Bedrock Edition runs bad because the Nintendo Switch uses old and weak hardware; the Bedrock Edition is well developed.
But the Bedrock Edition is far superior than the legacy Switch one.
And you know nothing about Android to say programs run bad on it.
bedrock is just dogshit, Mojang doesn’t know how to port it, the playstation version is also pretty lackluster and you clearly never played any legacy console version

I have played Xbox 360 Edition.
It had a ridiculous tiny world.
It also had much less content, mainly redstone.
It is just worse.
This would make sense if it didn't run poorly even back when the Switch was new.
It's slow on my Xbox One X too, the only platforms I've had Bedrock run well on is PC and high end phones.
Which makes me wonder what was the point of porting it to all these platforms when they're not giving them equal attention and care to make sure they're stable.

The last update for the Legacy Edition on PS4 was village and pillage, although not complete, as 4J Studios didn't have time to add stuff like the foxes, but still I rather play that Legacy Edition without the new updates than the trash Bugrock edition with lag, terrible/annoying/frustrating ui, terrible loading times and just bugs and crashes and so on. And this is coming from an OG Pocket Edition player. Minecraft Bedrock on consoles just sucked since the start and continues to suck because Microsoft and Mojang don't give 2 sh*ts about it. You should only play Bedrock on a good PC or phone/tablet. On consoles, you're much better off with the Legacy Editions.
I though my wifi just sucked (it stills does, however). Apparently bedrock edition's just a big piece of crap across the board. Oh how I envy you legacy edition owners. I played countless hours of the Wii U version, and I even changed the default controls for bedrock to the Wii U layout.
I'll have to get my hands on a copy if I can someday.
Also no one talks about the issue where any hacker can just join your game in bedrock edition and corrupt your world in 1 click also ive been ddosed hacked doxxed and more on the bedrock edition i honestly think the game is a security hazard and should not even be allowed on all app stores for what is suppost to be a company thats good with cyber security (microsoft) they really ruined everything about the game the entire game is unplayable and worlds can even just corroupt themselves if the world gets too large in size ive had glitches where using a firework would sometimes cause your entire world to be corroupted and i cant even play the game without createing a backup every single time i load into the world you are doing a really good thing speaking out against that terrible version of minecraft but please make a video about the auful security the game has

When I bought Minecraft on the switch. It was bedrock edition, I hate bedrock edition, it's super laggy and I get bored of it so fast. But legacy edition allows me to play for hours without getting bored.

To be fair 3ds didn't have much to work with. I main'd it for a while and it was honestly decent, especially with the permanent map on the lower screen.

It's better that they stopped updating Legacy Switch anyway because the very next update added Phantoms to the game. Legacy Switch is forever locked to the last good version of the game.
