    What a great idea for a video. This is really helpful information for anyone wanting to move to Spain on a visa. Immigration can be so overwhelming! This is really informative 😊

    Excellent idea and great content. Thanks for taking the time and doing this for the fellow expats.
    A ton of questions and ideas come to mind for the future material, but this one was great as a starter.
    I know that it takes a good level of effort and time to do all this (have done a lot of TV before), but maybe I can team up with you when I’m down there and we can do some serious production; and have fun doing it too…😊

    Great video. 🙂 I was thinking about moving to Spain permanently, but don't think I can because of a criminal record from dumb petty stuff I did a decade ago when I was 18 and 19 years old. ☹️

    Thank you for this content. I'm Toronto and can't stop thinking about Spain and Malaga in particular. Have to be patient for a few more yrs to gather some more $$$ before pulling the trigger...
    Can I ask whether you have RRSP and you cashed out when you moved? I have a fair amount there but nothing crazy. I think in Canada you'd have to pay 25% flat if you withdraw as a non-resident. Up to you if you want to share, thanks much for the awesome guiding content again and all the best!

    Hi,
    Today I watched a RUclips Video in which Marisa Castillo was interviewed by a RUclips site called "The Empty Middle Seat Travel." She was interviewed by a Canadian citizen who recently obtained a NLV and lives in Fuengirola. Marisa stated in the video that the NLV financial requirements for 2023 are 33,000 Euro's per year for a single person. This is contrary to every other NLV website I have seen. The 2023 annual IPREM is 7,200 Euros, therefore the NLV annual requirement is 28.800 Euros. Please explain how you came up with the figure of 33,000 Euros for a single person?
    Thanks, Fred

      I did contact them before I contacted you. Their only response was to offer me a 30 minute consultation for a fee of 70 euros. Accuracy is very important especially when dealing with lawyers and government bureaucracies. I will keep watching your videos.

    A very helpful video. A suggestion for a future video would be the requirements for non-EU citizens who would like to be in the country for more than 90 days but less than 183 days and is a Visa required to have a bank account at a Spanish bank and / or own and plate a car in Spain.

    • @TheEmptyMiddleSeatTravel
      @TheEmptyMiddleSeatTravel  Год назад

      Thanks, that is a good idea for a video. You do need a visa for a bank account. You can obtain a non-resident account with your passport and usually a tax return or other proof of income. I'm not sure about the plate, but I will try and find out

      For more than 90 days you will need a visa. For example the non lucrative visa. For a bank account and to buy a car you will need an NIE number.

    I wonder how the family/Decedent visa works? I was born in Cuba but my great grandparents migrated to Cuba from Isla Canaria. How in the world do I get the proof? Does Spain have a system that tracks it? Mom has a cousin that moved to Spain and I believe she used the her Decedent Visa. I’ll have to reach out to her when I am ready.

    Sorry, another question came to mind. Does Just Law also help you with income tax calculations? I am sure you know the tax system in Spain is complex, I am trying to reach out for a point of contact/accountant that can help me do an estimate (pre arrival) just so I can have the info on hand...thanks

      Hi yes Just Law can assist you with taxes. If you go to their website under "services" it lists everything there, you can fill out a contact form on the website also. www.justlawsolicitors.com/services/ I completed a tax simulation before moving to Spain, it was with another firm before I even started my visa process with Just Law.

    Great video. Only problem was the echo which made it a little bit difficult to understand everything the attorney said. I'll probably use this law firm to help me in my move. I thought I'd be living in Spain by now, as I had a 9 month visa that ended in June. But there were complications with my home that I want to sell in California. Looks like a few more months of construction before I can sell. Will do non lucrative visa, but my last employer might want me to work remotely, but I already have a pension that qualifies me, so digital nomad might also be a bonus . I'm hoping my old apartment in Spain is available (probably is, as 90% of piso's are available September-Junel). Not 100% sure where I want to buy. PS, I'm an attorney.

Also as mentioned you must have contract for one year rent how much approximately you are paying is it empty apartment and you furnished or it’s furnished I am coming to visit in September to check all details and stop to talk to this law firm, thanks for replying back

    • @TheEmptyMiddleSeatTravel
      @TheEmptyMiddleSeatTravel  Год назад +2

      Thank you. 2-3 bedroom apartments range 800-1200 euros on average, you can spend much more though depending on what you are looking for. The apartments most of the time are completely furnished. The best website to look for rentals is idealista. www.idealista.com/en/ The entire visa process cost me 750, I believe it went up a few euros this year. That covered the visa application from Canada and all the paperwork and appointments here in Spain padron and the TiE. I also used the law firm to review a rental contract before singing, which was a separate cost.

      @@TheEmptyMiddleSeatTravel Whew! My Military pension (after taxes) is just shy of the amounts a delineated on the Toronto consulate web page. It also only says XXXX MONTHLY income/pension, and nothing specific about savings or a combination of both. But I know you went thru Toronto recently so I am glad you have some clarity on this. Thanks for all these info sessions, I will definitely be using Just Law when I start the process later this year.

      If it is taxed in your home country it will most likely be taxed in Spain. You can get a tax simulation done at most law firms that will give you a good idea of how much tax you will be paying.
