The reason I ask is because you may not want to remain the entire year if things are not working out for you and avoid so much money upfront. Sorry. Here is a repeat of the same comment earlier, with correction......Hello. Love your videos on NLV Spain. Have a question. How can I find the tab and navigate to the MAKE AN APPOINTMENT page on the Spain Consulate website in Los Angeles? I actually need to apply at the San Francisco Spain Consulate, but I understand the two web sites are similar.
Thanks for the info. Do we need to have a passport for a minimum of twelve months? My daughter is getting her first passport in April 2023 but hope to move in Oct 2023. Will that be a problem?
Hi there! Great question. In order to apply for a non-lucrative visa in Spain, you will need to have a valid passport. However, there is no specific requirement for the passport to be valid for a minimum of twelve months. As long as your daughter's passport is valid at the time of application, you should be good to go. It's important to keep in mind that the non-lucrative visa application process can take several months, so it's a good idea to start the process as early as possible to ensure everything is in order before your planned move in October 2023. I hope this helps!

We are British citizens but live in Turkey. We applied in Istanbul for Spanish residency only to find out the consulate won’t accept our original wedding certificate because it was from Venezuela and they don’t recognise it. So we applied as individuals then consulate said we can’t apply as individuals because we are married but won’t accept our wedding certificate, we can’t win either way
@@EverythingIsBoffo The original is in Spanish so they said it did not need legalising apostiled etc. They insist on a brand new copy which is impossible from Venezuela as civil war there. We are appealing to Madrid to get clarification but think the consulates are not all singing off the same sheet. We had the wedding certificate translated into English when we married in 2006 but they ignored it and even Turkey recognised it for us to prove we are married etc. So not sure whats going to happen next .

Per my understanding an NLV is good for 1 year only. How often can you renew it and for long? Also, how sooncan you change it to a permanent resident visa?
You can renew it. The renewal is good for 2 more years. After 5 years you can apply for permanent residency if you only stayed out of Spain a total of 10 months in the last 5 years.
If I am a real estate agent in the US and I can get referral commission for homes sold to my clients by another agent, is this considered residual income and would it be permitted?
Hola, new subscriber here. Aside sa Spain, can we visit other Schengen countries when we have the NLV already? Is this the same as the digital nomad visa? For example I am currently based in Thailand, can I apply for NLV there? And are NLV holders required to pay taxes in Spain? Thanks!
Hi, thanks for subscribing! Yes, travel within schengen. No, Digital Nomad Visa is new and different from NLV. I think DNV will be a better fit for your situation. Yes you apply where you are a legal resident (not a tourist). Sorry, not a tax expert, cannot comment on the last one!
Hi! Amazingly informative vid - thanks so much! What source(s) are acceptable for the criminal background check as United States applicants? I've encountered conflicting information: some say you have to obtain it through the FBI and others from your local police department. What worked for you guys? Thanks! 🙂
Depends on your consulate. LA was fine with State Background check from the CA DOJ back in 2021. Some will require FBI. But for sure FBI will be okay with all consulates but may take longer.
We showed savings only for our NLV so you should be good. I don’t think they will accept salary because that means you’re working and some consulates don’t want you to work on this visa. Pensions are also acceptable.

New subscriber here! Great and helpful video po. Ask ko lang po: 1/saan po pwd makita ang list of requirements ng NLV? 2/ after ng NLV approval, kailan po pwd i-apply ang (permanent) residency? Maraming salamat po and God bless.
Hello! Just saw your comment. You can find the list on the website of the consulate assigned to your official place of residence. After 2 years you can apply for citizenship as a Filipino citizen. If you want permanent residency, you have to wait 5 years.
I’m US-based non-dual Canadian. Can you change your status from Non-Lucrative to work status within the 5 year period? Also, can you work in your home country on your 2-3 month absence in Spain?
This is not legal advice! From what we know and understand… You can change to permanent residency after 5 years of continuous living in Spain, provided that you stay 10 months a year in Spain. You can change to work visa anytime with a job offer and you meet the requirements. As for working outside of Spain, we don’t know if there’s a law against it. It may affect your NLV renewal, but I recommend reaching out to an immigration expert like Bureaucracy.es/everythingisboffo

I suggest looking at the requirements and see if you qualify with those first. If you are able to provide all the requirements then i think you should email the consulate to get a definitive answer.
Also stock trading is not working. It’s basically investment income. It should qual for either visa. You need to have the savings in your account, not a monthly check coming in.
Hello again guys!!!! I wanted to know if you could maybe hopefully answer my question. I know Marina said every consulate is different. I have seen several websites where it states for a NLV you need 28 thousand € in savings then another website says you have to at least have 2200 € a month of steady income like retirement and then another website says either or. Would you happen to know what it really might be. I’m in the US and in Texas. I don’t have savings but I have way more a month than 2200€
That will depend on your consulate, whatever their website says will probably be the best guide for you. If the website isn't clear enough for you, best to email them directly. Thanks!
@@EverythingIsBoffo Thank you so much!! If I ever move there im sure I will bump into you guys! I wont be doing nothing but roaming the city looking for my next adventure of shopping and eating! 🥰
Hi Folks! This was a great video and most of the questions were answered. You guys are doing an awesome job by helping NLV aspirants. I have a question about proving the financial means. Most of my savings have been invested into a fixed deposit which can be withdrawn by me anytime. This means that although the money is in a fixed deposit, it is very much accessible. Does the Spanish embassy accept Fixed Deposit certificate provided by my bank or am I required to withdraw the money into my savings account and then provide my bank statement showing the money in my savings account?
Thanks for watching! Best to email your consulate. I asked if our Sep IRA can be counted as proof of funds and LA said it has to be liquid. It will depend on what they classify as liquid funds. Good luck on your application!
To be safe I would recommend showing at least the iPrem x 4 (around €28.800 for 2023) for 1 person, and each additional person another iPrem x 1 (€7.000).
What i dont get.. i have a residency already but my uncle wants to come over and live with us. Obviously he gets a state pension but no savings and Spain have accepted this ! his pension only makes up between 5-6k euro per annum. He has no savings but apparently a state pension or PIP is accepted ? Thats crazy. Also nobody has that amount of money we are told thats needed unless you are a lawyer or plastic surgeon. They have made it impossible!! Also the consultant advised me there is no need to have an entire years of medical insurance. The insurance company will tell you this because they know people will take out an insurance and then cancel it and get it cheaper once they have their residency. Who, I want you ro say can afford all this just to live in spain? the EU has really F****d up on this one. Makes me sick.
This visa has been available for non-EU citizens for a few years now. We’ll have to respectfully disagree, this is not the EU’s fault. Unfortunately for your uncle, Brexit has made UK citizens non-EU citizens and now have to acquire visas same as other non-EU countries.

Around minute 20 the information is not correct. With a non lucrative visa you cannot work IN SPAIN. If you work remotely, and your income comes from abroad, then you declare and pay taxes (on your world wide income) when you become a tax resident.
Working remotely in Spain is more aligned with the digital nomad visa. And if you were to ask all the consulates if working outside Spain is allowed, you will probably get different answers and may be refused the non lucrative visa.
@@EverythingIsBoffo I've been curious about who determines what work is? She specifically said income from an investment property isn't work, and neither are investment dividends or payouts. So, if I'm a silent partner, is that work? Also, how does Spain know if I'm working, if I'm not required to disclose tax information? I understand that I couldn't use that undisclosed income to qualify, but if I have passive income as well, it seems like an unenforcable rule.
@@dldarby82 the consulate or the person checking your application will be the one to determine it, and after 1 year of living in Spain you will need to submit a renewal and they can also deny you then if they are not satisfied.

Look under Visas, select the visa you need, then there should be a link to make an appointment for that visa. Thanks for watching!
How can I get in touch with Marina?
@@dianamariebarrios8841 Hi! Just click here: bureaucracy.es/everythingisboffo

First saw your Paris video. Good job on that one. Do you need to declare any asset sale like stocks or property outside Spain and pay Capital Gains Tax on those when you are under NLV?
Hi! We’re not familiar with this process yet unfortunately. It’s probably best to consult with a professional for this or join our Facebook community. They’ve been really helpful in there 😊

Just a question, is the application in person with an appointment or is it by mail? Thanks a lot y Suerte!
You’ll need and appointment (which you can do online) for in-person 😊
Hi. Thanks for the interesting video! I have always wondered if you can switch from the NLV to the Golden Visa after you buy property there.
Thanks for watching! I’m not sure, but I think so. Or you can just keep renewing the NLV if it’s simpler for you.

We are British citizens but live in Turkey. We applied in Istanbul for Spanish residency only to find out the consulate won’t accept our original wedding certificate because it was from Venezuela and they don’t recognise it. So we applied as individuals then consulate said we can’t apply as individuals because we are married but won’t accept our wedding certificate, we can’t win either way
That’s strange, did they say why they won’t recognize it? Did you have it Apostilled?
@@EverythingIsBoffo The original is in Spanish so they said it did not need legalising apostiled etc. They insist on a brand new copy which is impossible from Venezuela as civil war there. We are appealing to Madrid to get clarification but think the consulates are not all singing off the same sheet. Hi, I have a question is it ok to just have the savings but don't have a passive income?

I guess my pension from work, 401k retirement funds, and social security benefits will meet the requirements for the visa. You guys rock!

Is this the same as the digital nomad visa? As I am a digital nomad and I can carry my work anywhere.
Also, can I apply for NLV not from my country of origin, but from the country that I am currently working? For example I am currently based in Thailand, can I apply for NLV there?
And are NLV holders required to pay taxes in Spain?

can you show savings instead of salary? like if i have 30k in my account is it good or do i have to show like actually monthly salary?
We showed savings only for our NLV so you should be good. I don’t think they will accept salary because that means you’re working and some consulates don’t want you to work on this visa. Pensions are also acceptable.

Thank you! ☺️
Are you free to travel all EU countries during this 12-month period if you are approved for this visa?? It seems that is the case as long as you aren't getting stamped out of the EU.
Within Schengen, yes there’s freedom of travel. I think some EU countries are not part of Schengen, like Ireland. So we need a visa to go there.

Hello! Just saw your comment. You can find the list on the website of the consulate assigned to your official place of residence. After 2 years you can apply for citizenship as a Filipino citizen. If you want permanent residency, you have to wait 5 years.
I have US and Philippine nationalities. Can I apply the non-lucrative visa using my Philippine passport ? I will be applying in the US.
Hi! Replied in your other comment. That depends on your consulate.

You would be crazy to immigrate without having health insurance for existing conditions
