Hi, thanks for such a great video unveiling valuable information. Is it possible to apply for NLV Spain if one already holds a temporary residency in another European country..?
I think this is a very helpful process video and Marina is helpful. However, especially retirees need to know the TAX implications for US citizens. Taxes in Spain are on worldwide income, and other assets you have and Spain has a significantly higher taxes than the US. I’ve been looking at moving to Spain for a while and it may not make sense.
That is good to know. Do you know if this because of the USA or Spain, or both? Because I know that USA citizens get taxed on their income wherever they move to.

Yes, it is valid question - we have been looking at this visa, however, tax implications (we are from Canada) might be a big deal. Spain has higher taxes than Canada and paying additional 30-35% on top of Canadian tax doesn't make sense.

Thank you for posting this video and having Marina there as an amazing legal expert. I do have a question about health, if you are in your first year of cancer completed treatments and doing well will they discount that when obtaining the health insurance policy? And as a granddaughter of Spanish Austrian grandparents, I have not been able to successfully find my grandparents birth certificates from the 1890s in the civil ministry of the province of Asturias in the county of Ponga. Will this be helpful in securing my NLV visa in case the medical part is an issue. ?
So happy we could help. Marina is fantastic. Honestly those are super good (and specific!) questions that would be perfect for an expert like Marina to answer. You can schedule a free chat with her with the link in the video to see how that would affect your NLV application. Hope that helps!
If granted an NLV, will I be considered a tax resident if I only live in Spain for 120-150 days per year? (Not really seeking “permanent residency” at this time.) Will need to spend at least ~6 months p/yr in the UK to help with family, elderly parents, look after properties, etc
As far as we know, you can stay less than the tax requirement and you won’t have to pay. If you want residency, this affects your residency status. We’re not sure how staying less than 1/2 a year affects the NLV renewal, that’s something to ask Marina.
Yes, there’s a digital nomad visa for someone working remotely in Spain. Every country has different requirements for their digital nomad visas. Spain’s is very new and the requirements are very specific.
That’s a good question for an expert. We recommend that you contact Marina. You can also contact some Spanish insurance agents and ask them about coverage.
Do I have to submit the passport with the NLV application or just a copy? If yes, does that mean that I can't travel while waiting for the application to be processed, which is around 3 months?
You have to submit your passport with the NLV application. We've heard that some people request to get their passport back so they can travel, but this is rare and varies from consulate to consulate.

I'm curious to know how come running your RUclips channel doesn't disqualify your from the NLV visa. It doesn't seem to be an issue and yet Marina clearly states that people on the NLV can't work at all. Are you/we allowed to earn money from RUclips while on an NLV? Or, for that matter, are we allowed to run any type of content creator business? I ask only because this is something my husband and I are interested in doing. Thank you again for your fun and informative videos. They're incredibly inspiring!
I’m curious me and family are applying for NLV using savings we have..has your you tube income affected the NLV in any way? We are in a similar situation with an ebook. I consider it passive but who knows.
Do I need to apostille my kids' birth certificates and marriage certificates for the Washington DC Spain Consulate, or is it sufficient to have them legalized? And if legalizing is enough, then would that be for the copy or original?
We had our marriage certificate apostilled at the state level. We don't have any experience with birth certificates. If you have lots of questions, we suggest reaching out to Marina. She knows all these answers and more.

As a holder of the Spain Non-Lucrative Visa, you are classified as a tax resident after spending more than 183 days per year in the country. If you both did the NLV for Spain, how are you still earning money with affiliate links and your buy me a coffee page? I thought the NLV was retirement visa - meaning 'non-working'.
Hi, I have two questions that many would also benefit from an answer and few videos talk about: 1. If you are already a permanent resident in Spain and at this point you are just renewing your resident visa every five years, do you still need to have a certain amount of money in the bank to meet IPREM requirements ?? 2nd, if you become a Spain citizen does that still require you to have a certain amount of money in the bank and are yearly taxes incurred with the citizenship perk ?
Awesome questions. Honestly, I'm not sure about the IPREM requirements for permanent residence renewal, but I imagine that you have to meet some minimum requirement. I'd be surprised if you didn't. Citizenship is a whole other thing that we haven't looked into deeply, but my understanding is that once you become a citizen, you're treated like any other Spaniard. You have access to all government programs (like healthcare) and there are no more minimums or requirements to remain. You are Spanish.
Nothing on a person from the US and Spanish taxes. I suspect that tax rates are very high....40% or so....how is that an advantage? Without knowing the tax rules, nothing else is important.
There are tax treaties so that you are not paying double tax. Yes, the taxes are higher in Spain but if you do not want to pay the taxes, then there are other places to live.
Does owning a fully paid home (no mortgage), count as financial means to support yourself in Spain? I own a home in Houston and own a business too. Looking to move my family of 3.

We spent less doing it ourselves, but the difference wasn’t that much because we made some mistakes with translations and unnecessary documents. It’s always worth talking to a pro if you’re worried or confused about the process.

@@DaysWeSpend thanks so much!!
I have US and Philippine nationalities. Can I apply the non-lucrative visa using my Philippine passport ? I will be applying in the US.
This is a great question for Marina. We're sure she could help you out.
I would like to make an appointment with you.

I m from Pakistan i want to take NLV what will be procedure?
We recommend contacting Marina. We don't have any experience with the NLV from your country.
If you both did the NLV for Spain, how are you still earning money with affiliate links and your buy me a coffee page? I thought the NLV was retirement visa - meaning 'non-working'.
Affiliates are considered royalty and non-lucrative work.
Can I apply for a Non-Lucrative Visa even if my husband does not wish to apply?
Hi, I have two questions that many would also benefit from an answer and few videos talk about:
Unless you have renters, probably not. We recommend talking to Marina. She can answer all your questions to find the right visa for you.
@@DaysWeSpend yup, will try to contact her today. Thanks!
What if you have a partner but you are not married?
If you can prove a domestic partnership, then you can apply with combined funds.
Dont forget a detailed price description. Dont pay before you find out what you get.
Absolutely. That’s why we like Marina. She’s super transparent about pricing. We spent less doing it ourselves, but the difference wasn’t that much because we made some mistakes with translations and unnecessary documents. It’s always worth talking to a pro if you’re worried or confused about the process.
Making your own appointment is super easy if you can read and spell.
It depends on the consulate. We had a lot of trouble making our appointment. Glad it was easy for you.
If you are a US citizen with no "special" problems it is easy to yourself. Just get your FBI apostile sone first as it may take 3 months to get it back. From the time of submission to approval was 21days.
21 days is really great! For some people it can be fairly straightforward. For others, it's more complicated and they want some help. Thanks for watching.
Is the passive income requirement net after tax or gross income (before tax)?
Sounds like a great question for Marina! Tell her we sent you and she’ll answer your questions in a consultation.
