One significant factor that the Cygolite Hypershot series is brighter than most of the rest is due to the fact that it uses something like 610-620nm LEDs, Rather than the others using 630nm range LEDs. The emitters in the hypershot are biased towards orangey with a small tinge of red, whereas the others are more towards red with a tinge of orange. So this alone gives you quite a boost in perceived brightness by itself. (an extreme eg would be 532nm green lasers vs 638/650/670/680nm red lasers, even the red lasers have different perceived brightness between 638nm and 680nm). The other factor would be the somewhat flat hotspot put out by the fresnel and TIR lenses, thus focusing the light and increasing the lux outout (not lumen output).....but the -ve would be the beam spread to the sides would not be as good. But that is fine, i use 2pcs of Hypershot 350s aimed at around 30 deg to the sides for day time use, and the Magicshine RN120 + wind&moon 80 lumens firing straight. I top it off with a Moon Helix sense 450 on the helmet which has a extremely wide coverage.
I don’t think blinding a driver trying to overtake you is a good idea
Muchas gracias. Quedó entendido. Me compré la CYGOLIGHT.
Saludos desde Perú!!!
Great video. But how do you rate its durability in terms of material and shock resistance? Did you ever drop it, or have you used it on a rain?
My problem with the Omega is daylight strobe only lasts 30 minutes then the next mode down is brighter, I wonder how long the hyper shot daytime strobe is as bright?
How is the cygolite 200 compared to the 350? I have read they are very near the same. Good comparison. Thanks
Just take a look at this quick comparison - ruclips.net/video/MfKbTkA-8Oc/видео.html
Sorry for my bad English 🙂
This light (Cygolite 350) is very bright - very good for a solo ride and/or day ride. It is unnecessarily bright for a night ride and is dangerously bright for a night ride with a group. Maybe it can be dimmed, but the owner couldn’t figure it out on our last ride.
@@mikecordes9192 It can be dimmed in some modes. As well as the flash rate.
@@mikecordes9192 Switch it into steady mode, it can be turned down to a level that is suitable even for night group rides. I further use a frosted scotch tape and tape up the lenses so that the hotspot grows around 20% in size and so the lux value goes down further. There is more than sufficient power output even in direct sunlight.
