I just went today to Nissan and Kia dealerships. Kicks is nothing near to Seltos. Seltos definitely compete with Qashqai. I felt like Seltos is better than Qashqai but not quite Rogue. But he’ll no, Kicks is crap
It would be great to see an update of this one. Seltos SX has more power and upgraded transmission for 2024, while even the base Rogue now has a turbo, so the points related to performance/drivability would be different today. If you were going to add a third, the similarly priced base Sportage Hybrid also has turbo even in its base model, Rogue-like space, but with hybrid MPG.
Appreciate the review of cars in different segments. Some of us need to know if more space is worth the extra $, the compromise between models, equal price comparison (28k compact v. 29k sub compact), etc. Keep 'em coming.
Absolutely love my BRAND NEW 2022 Kia Seltos sx turbo!!! White pearl with burgundy interior. Beautiful and I traded my Telluride so I ain't making stuff up !!
If Nissan jatco CVT is crap, so does Hyundai /Kia 1.8/2.0l enigne which can fail anytime after 60k miles or 100k km. What is the use of a longer warranty if eventually things fail and you get a refurbished part. And by American and Canadian driving standards, 60k miles and 100k km is not much for a warranty time-line. Car in these 2 countries should last at least 200k km or equivalent miles at least even if not covered under warranty.
I don't think they're comparing it. They are more like showing them together. Selto's being more sporty, youth and fun to drive and the Rogue being more practical family SUV.
I did actually cross shop these 2, along with the base engine ford bronco and Mazda cx30 an Crostrek. I was impressed with the Seltos I am an aggressive driver and I find my self battling in the city traffic very often. Seltos was the winner for me as my new commuter/cross state explorer. I didn't bother looking at the Mini countryman since the Seltos had all I needed after already taking 2 weeks looking at the others. I have done 2 700 mile trips in the Seltos 10 -11 hours in a single day from southern Ca to Utah and I am very happy. SX T-GDI all pearl white.
@@SWEETVENOM100 road noise is like a jeep lol , not worse but not good. My wife has a palisade, much quieter. Fuel economy is as advertised when driving in smart mode hyway trips aren't bad on gas but it's not as good as a Forrester, I only use 91 octane from costco. I drive really hard for this type of vehicle and it changes lanes real good no tire squealing.
You're a riot. However...comparing cars in two different classes isn't really fair to either one. Excellent production though. The Rogue is the right answer. Not one of them has caught fire and burned to the ground yet, like the Seltos has.
I rented a Nissan Rogue the last two days. I'm 5'1" and kept almost hitting my head on the top of the door frame when entering the car. The head rest kept hitting the back of my head, making me have to tilt my head down. I had to remove it and turn it around which was much more comfortable for me to drive and I was able to lean my head back while driving. The drivers seat wasn't comfy at all.I felt like i was going to slide into the floor of the drivers seat. Funny, i know. Everything else was great. lol. I wouldn't buy this car, for these reasons I'm out. lol (I watch too much Shark tank) I will check out the KIA, thank you for this video. =)
And the Seltos has less ground clearance, which to me it 'very' important to me in a cold snowy climate that has rough streets and equally rough roads!
Just remember that the wheel base of the rogue is 3 inches longer with less than 1 inch ground clearance advantage. its about a wash when traversing rough terrain when you consider having your wheels 3 inches closer together for going up and over icy dunes. Just FYI in case you are seriously considering cross shopping these 2.
even if it were a tie, which it is not, the reliability record, snd much longer warranties make the Kia the winner. and, it doesn't use grenades, err, takata airbags, in its steering wheel.🥳
I would go Kia K5 but the Seltos 1.6T I would prefer to the Rogue. I would never buy a Jatco CVT equipped vehicle which is compounded by a lifeless 2.5L engine. The Rogue is more a refresh in my opinion than "all new". hate the exterior of the Rogue as well. Looks like a deformed polar bear. That said the Seltos face isn't much better. The lights are crazy busy. The upcoming Shortage looks to sadly be even worse as far as have lights that go on for days. I appreciate this style of comparison essentially showing what choices you have for the same money. Also Clif is hilarious and shares my fear of Amazon.
Gee, I thought you were going to cry re "no paddle shifters". Had you done your research - there is a great select shift mode on the 7speed DCT - where you can upshift and downshift all day long to enhance the fun of driving. You didn't compare performance very well as the Seltos does 0-60 in 6.6 seconds. You also didn't do a good job re safety systems. Yes, I am a 2022 Seltos SX owner and saved thousands of dollars purchasing the top of line Seltos versus top of line Rogue.
I am always in awe of the level of uninformation ( yes I made that up ) of most viewers of car reviews ( they also like to repeat everything they ever read on every other RUclips review...)...most of them have never driven the cars they comment on....but hot damn they know by god....the few who comment on the "unpopular " choice and have had good experiences get lost in the noise...
But the prices are comparable, that’s the point; a cheaper car with a top trim, or a more expensive car with a mid-level trim. He states in the first few seconds that they’re different classes but almost the same price
Thank u for the comparison , I am undecided for the 2. Really love the starbright yellow but nissan interior is very pretty. And I think Nissan is more reliable than the Kia. for now I am leaning with the rogue platinum.
This is such a stupid channel because the camera is always on your face and your talking instead of talking and at the same time showing the consumer the interiors of both vehicles. I am unsubscribing
I can't speak to the Seltos, as it's a brand new model, but I bought my 2010 KIA Soul in August of 2009, as the first shipment of Souls seen on US shores. It now has 113,000 miles on it and at 11 years old, is still churning along. It had a problem with the heater core, but that was covered under warranty and they fixed it. That's the only problem I have had. I'm probably going to change the brakes soon. The suspension is still pretty good, albeit firm on 18" wheels, but at only 2800 Lbs., it's not overworked. KIA and Hyundai are not what they used to be. In fact, I would probably steer clear of any KIA of Hyundai made before 2008, but that was when both companies made a 180. Ever since then, it has been an upward trajectory. Now you might ask me, well then, why didn't you buy a KIA earlier this year, and instead bought a Subaru Outback? Well, KIA had just released the Telluride, but they were hard to find on dealer lots and honestly, I don't need a three row crossover. And unfortunately, the new 2021 Sorento had not come out yet. I'm still not sure if I would have gotten the Sorento. The Outback was completely new in 2020, in every facet. I feel like every person in Washington State who bought a new car in 2020, bought a Subaru Outback. I see the new ones everywhere. KIA and Hyundai don't have the #1 vehicle in every class, but they are top 3 or 4 in nearly every non-luxury class of vehicle. Cars I am excited to see in 2021 would be the new Honda Civic and the Subaru Forester, with the XT Turbo.
@@occckid123 They went to a six speed automatic and a direct injected engine in 2012, and while the car definitely needed the two additional gears, the engine technology was not as tried and true as the old 2.0 L iron block in the 2010 and 2011 models... Furthermore, some only had the 1.6 L engine and that was not a good choice.
The Kia Seltos has a 4 for safety and depending on what year and trim the safety features will be standard (the 2022 models, the safety features are standard across the different trim levels).

The Kia seltos warranty should have been a factor. Hands down the best.
love comparison head to head reviews and should do many more. You should also compare the ones in the same segments.
Absolutely, we’re planning on it! We wanted to start here with comparing dollar amounts, thanks for the feedback!
A $3500.00 price difference on starting price is a HUGE difference % wise when comparing sub and compact cars. #neverbuyorleaseaNissaneveragain.
