The sherman, like most tanks, was longer to the aft than fore (meaning the turret ring was located toward the front of the tank). Thus, to economise on carriage space, they tended to have the turret swung to the rear during cartage so the barrel wouldn't protrude beyond the body. This space equation is especially true regarding the longer barreled fireflies.

Nice models but as a rule military vehicles in transit would not have had secondary weapons, ie 50cal fitted
