My very favorite song if Jimmy Dortunve is Far Side Banks of Jordan. My husband passed away with Covid in 2020 and the words were like he wrote the song for me. We were married almost 60 years, he was a Primitive Baptist Minister not a song writer but if he had been this is a song he would have written for me Thank you so very much for this song
God truly blessed the Statlers when he sent them Jimmy to replace Lew because of his passing. The Statlers have always been one of my favorite groups. Jimmy’s voice has always sounded like that of an angel.
Jimmy, you are an amazing person n I thank God you reached for a Gideon Bible, and you found your Lord n Saviour n not forgetting your Mumas prayers 🙏🙏💕
Jimmy Fortune is the best tenor I have ever heard. God blessed him with a Beautiful golden voice. His integrity is One of a True child of God. His beautiful voice makes you want to hear more.
@@MattFouch pretty much all of it. I'm one of the admins on his fan page on Facebook, so I love everything that we can find about him. I especially like to hear him tell the story about his grandmother, however. I have heard it before but got a few more details this time. And overall, just his genuineness. I very much appreciate that you also are not afraid to speak of your faith, and that's something I admire in Jimmy too.
I Love listening to these stories about “life” and how we all make it through every day. Jimmy, I am one of your fans Love your Singin! Far as I’m concerned hadn’t anyone ever sang “The Farside Banks of Jordan” except you! Thank You, Sir! God Bless
Matt, thanks for having Jimmy on the couch. Jimmy and the Statlers were an important part of my growing up. I’ve met and talked with Jimmy a few times. He is one of the most genuine people I’ve ever met. He loves the Lord and is not ashamed to say so. God bless.
Matthew Fouch As a lifelong Statler fan I always love to hear how Jimmy came to the Statlers. My favorite part was when Jimmy shared about how his Momma’s prayers were answered in his life. Side note: I try to watch all of your interviews. I appreciate your respect for those you interview and giving them freedom to answer. The random 5 at the end gives and opportunity for the guest to stop and think a little versus a question they may have a “rehearsed” answer for. It shows a “comfortable awkwardness.” God bless.
My first time listening to Matthew Fouch and I am so impressed. He lets the person he is interviewing talk and we hear stories that are true blessings because Matthew doesn't dominate the interview and doesn't interrupt. I love Jimmy Fortune but after this interview I love and respect him even more and I can say the same about Matthew. Thank God for both of you. I was blessed!!
I really enjoyed this interview. I've always enjoyed the Statler Brothers, and it was great getting to hear Jimmy's story. Thanks for all the interviews you do with these folks. God Bless!
1:45 p.m. This is a great interview with lots of experiences and stories and lots of credit and thanks going to God which is great. Thank you so much. God bless both of you.
I loved Jimmy with the Statlers and now on his own! What a humble servant’s heart he has! Loved that you let him talk cuz he has some wonderful stories. I can’t wait to read his book one of these days! Great interview, Matt!!!
What a Great interview and Gentleman. It really moved me back towards my Faith that may have been wavering over this last decade of major health issues. Thank God for the Statler Brothers and Jimmy Fortune. Not to mention Fouch for bringing us the beautiful interview.
Jimmy is a class act. And ironically he is the only Statler who gives Lew Dewitt his due. Jimmy revered Lew and often spoke fondly of the friendship he had with him. After Lew's departure, the other 'brothers' seldom mentioned him and seemed to get acutely uncomfortable every time his name was mentioned. While Jimmy is probably the better singer, Lew's talent was undeniable; and if not for him (composing 'Flowers on the Wall' which was clearly their breakthrough song), there might never have been a Statler Brothers! (or at least one you'd ever have heard of). Thanks Jimmy for being an extraordinarily nice guy. You deserve your 'fortune.'
I've heard the brothers mention lew many times on different interviews.. they loved him, I believe it's hurts them sometimes knowing he's gone. I've seen tears in their eyes once in an interview.
What an awesome interview. This is twice today that I’ve thought of our military and that courage to look death in the face, but continue to move in the direction necessary. Thanks for your verbal support of all these guys and gals. I have four sons that have not had to serve because of others that have stood up to take those places. I also love Jesus for exactly the same reason. Unconditional love. Thank You and thank you.
@@MattFouch May I answer that? My favorite part was getting to hear the stories of how he got started. And the funny story of his wife not being able to advise him of his wardrobe malfunction until afterwards. Pastor said she invented several signals she could inconspicuously give him to clue him in. 😁 Thank you so much for sharing. Very much enjoyed.
Really enjoying listening to this interview. Singing the. songs you have mentioned... The Class of 57 and Counting Flowers on the Wall...wow. I will be following you all over the place. At least on You Tube. God bless you! Thank you for sharing your magnificent voice. I had a brother that had a beautiful smooth voice like yours but he never got to professional. I always thought he would. He probably is singing in Heaven now. What an audience!!! Well see ya Jimmy! You won't see me but I will be out there enjoying your music along with your other many fans.
Mariska, Jimmy did write "More Than a Name on a Wall" after his experience there. It was written in collaboration with another great songwriter and friend of his, John Rimel.
Good evening Matt, Linda here! Seems like I have to change my thought on the best interview! Jimmy Fortune comes in first without a doubt. #1👏🏼 Be well Matt and God bless🙏🏼❤️
Matthew Fouch Hope you had a nice day Matt. And even though it isn’t full until Friday hoping you have seen the beauty of God in the brightly lit moon tonight. Awesome to know no matter where we are we all share His creation. After reading you question about my favorite part, I really got to thinking that perhaps favorite might be exchanged to most inspirational,as that it probably how I respond to your interview.Hearing how the Lord has worked in various ways throughout ones life is pretty fascinating. Most impressive to me is the mother who has prayed for her child since birth faithfully and finally through the ups, downs and all arounds of that life get to see the reward of answered prayer in the man or woman God has created for His glory. Good answer Matt? You see,I was called to be a nurse so this critic thing really makes me have to think!🧐. Have a good night.🙏🏼❤️
Great Interview God was with you , what a wonderful Mother you had Thanks for Sharing and Sharing you Great Voice
Thanks for listening
