I know this video is a test and what I'm about to say isn't necessarily relevant because this video is in line with a lot of the content that you usually focus on, but I just wanted to say I've really enjoyed and appreciated you doing some different style videos lately like using the cheap Walmart polisher or talking about borophene coatings for example.

I am so glad that you do these tests. I still believe that the only difference is the time it takes for you prep the surface for 7 coatings and the time for you too put all the stickers and boxes for 30 coatings. Try N-914 8 to 1 instead of IPA and see if that fixes it. Great video, keep it up. You are my favorite RUclips channel

I use griots 3-1 mainly because of your tests. its been outstanding with my maintenance clients.

I started using Griots 3 in 1 based off tests you did in the past and have always gotten similar results here in PA. I used it on my own vehicle in September and I noticed it was still beading very well during a recent rain storm.

I've noticed similar things in the past when re-applying my spray ceramic.
In areas where the ceramic completely failed the reapplied area was very hydrophobic, however in areas which where weak they improved, but not dramatically, nor to the same level.
By no means was it the same type of situation, but I always wondered why I could flood some panels on my car with ease, yet others would bead like mad when I hit them with the pressure washer.
Ultimately my speculation was spray ceramic doesn't bond to ceramic well. I don't mean it can't, just does so kinda poorly. Where as other non hydrophobic chemicals in the spray ceramic could still bond.
My guess was you end up with a layer of not so hydrophobic chemicals bonding on top of the ceramic, vs ceramic bonding on top of ceramic (if that makes any sense). It was really the only conclusion that made sense to me personally.
Areas where the ceramic completely failed had very good hydrophobicity. However areas where some ceramic remained showed noticeable worse performance.
I wonder if that is the same situation here.

would be great to see a leather ceramic coating comparison. Dye transfer is super annoying with lighter colored seats

The oddball is griot 3in1 ,it generally lasts 1 yr+

Scott, have you thought about switching to Reset for future tests? There is definitely something odd going on here, especially since in your other test, Griot's is still hanging in there after the 10 month mark.
Regardless, I'm thankful for your hard work!

One variable most overlook is the condition of the paint itself. As paint ages in the real world it degrades from UV, contact and chemical damage. This will play a much bigger role in messing with bonding properties for all kinds of products (waxes, sealants and coatings) much more than people tend to realize. This is a great example of why SAMPLE SIZE and variable control are so important before jumping to conclusions about anything.

Hey Markus, does polishing clearcoat "renew" its bonding properties?

Strange about griots. In your other test it’s still holding on past 10 months?

Yes - hence why I say this test is the oddball, and I don't know what's going on

@Scott: Garry Dean claims to have the highest SIO2 in a product called EMC Boost. This is a product I think you need to test.

still think this test is borked. Try a diff hood. Griots should last a lot longer, so should some of the others.

2 coats of Griot's 3 in 1 for the sides. The roof and hood gets 1 coat of Soft99 Fuso Coat (non-PTFE version).
