*Cubeface:* _So the Fighter is pretty great for speedruns, he moves the fastest and his attacks have a knockback so I can get enemies out of my quickly._ *Announcer:* _Woah, looks like Cleric won the bidding war at the last second!_ *Cubeface:* _EVERYTHING IS AWFUL NOW!_
I still frightened about HeXen and Heretic. They are very atmospheric. First Person Shooters today are boring compared to that time in the mid of the 90s. And these games does only had Text than cut-scenes.
I used to play this when I was like 5 and I was completely terrible so I just wandered around. I likely never completed it, but it's really cool to see it being played the game truly is a remnant of time long past. Nicely done
There was a donation bet as to which class would be used. When they last checked, Fighter was in the lead. A few minutes into the run they looked again and saw that the Cleric actually had a last minute donation which topped Fighter.
hah auction is a cool feature ^^ Difficulty level looks hardcore. The game design and stylistics are so good that, I would like to see some kind of Warcraft game on the same engine like Warcraft Adventures: Lord of the Clans was announced but closed after. Mobile developers should learn on an old games - because 99% of mobile games are the worst nightmare
There was a bid war for class to play, and fighter was winning up until the last little bit but cleric ended up sniping it, but they didn't realize that until after the run had already started. So since cleric won the bid war, they had to restart the run with that class
iirc it's a problem with the fact they have to spend a couple minutes checking that donations are valid. Used to be a problem of people donating large amounts of money to get their message read out, only for them to cancel the transaction 30 seconds later. With the current system I don't believe I've heard of that happening anymore, but anyone who only gets around to donating at the last minute can mess up a bid war (especially ones that are less fought for such as this). It's also the reason why they ask people to make sure they get their donations in early or they might not go through for Save/Kill the Animals for Super Metroid.
Oooh, ok. I only really started following GDQ since Awesome earlier this year. I used to frequent SDA a bit years ago. That is a real bummer of a problem to sift through, donating for a message and then bailing. Glad it has stopped happening for the most part, and at least the runner/couch made fun of the need to reset, which was entertaining.
Different Doom-engine games tend to have different rulesets for what client you can use - for instance: Doom itself is ran in Competition Doom, Strife is ran through the Veteran Edition port, and Hexen and Heretic are generally run through ZDoom. It's mainly a case of what the first major runner uses becomes the norm, unless there's any big problems with compatibility or anything.
cleric is not a healer. but he can lifesteal tho. and has the best late game weapon out of the 3 warrior just has the easiest weapons all round mage has the best weapons early on. the ice is neat and the lightning stuns those shield dudes.
Thats bullshit that he has to start the run over again because of a last second donation towards the Cleric. To me I would say its too late for that Donation because the run has all ready started and made an into an automatic runners choice thing.
Matis Pure Usually, like Doom's nightmare, the last diff is just cheap(respawns, insanely fast/though enemies). The second to last is the hardest balanced option.
i played hexen with titan on warrior, it took me some hard times to complete the game but i did it! Now i can say i have beaten Hexen. I have seen speedruns with last diff, those will get my utmost respect. I gringe when i see them play speedruns with easy. But this is a good run! It gets 4/5 from me!
Year old comment, behold my necromany: but yeah the hardest difficulty basically makes all the skips and speedrun tactics not work properly, thus it is no longer a speedrun.
The guy who says "Let's keep it PG" is most likely the genius that wasted everybody's 3 minutes and threw off cubeface by making him start and finish as different classes. We are watching a fps and this guy is wigging out over the word 'mooning'. This is why more and more watch ESA and independent streams because you guys act like hush hush no jokes no fun. It's a gross, forced, sterile in terms of ideas and opinions. We know you get paid for these 'donations' so how's the progress? If you had cancer would you be proud of the work you have done? Something to consider because it would be ironic indeed to die from cancer, as you are trying so hard to get rid of through your speedruns without humor nor lively discussion, and hoping to get enough money for yourself of course. Keep thinking you are broadening appeal, but really you are killing it for the people who already watched. These broad, general viewers most likely do not watch long, nor donate. So if you aren't getting more donations why sterilize the stream so much to ultimately make less because new casual viewers are just stopping by and long time watchers are driven away year after year with the stricter rules. I wouldn't be surprised if this gets deleted or feathers are rustled but I do not care regardless.
"You have played this game too long, mortal..."
Jeez, the run's not even over yet and he's already criticizing it.
Charronia 😂

I used to be able to finish this in a little over an hour which I thought was pretty quick.
tenacious645
It's "sonny" :)
Nice to see you here man!
PS: And long live Raven Software (...at least...the old school one : | )
3:52 "You thought you were gonna have fun..."
I love that guy.

I had this game on the N64 and couldn't figure out where to go.
Probably had to go through a door. I'm not sure I never played this.
I love hexen
it's super underrated
Krebsei im from the USA and it's a pretty uncommon game here
doom clones all were underrated, except duke nukem 3d
+Baccar Wozat Yeah, seconding that. I still remember the Hexen 64 ads and demos at my local Walmart as a kid. That game certainly got around.
Agree ;)
Man, I loved this game so much back in the day, even though I was playing the almost unplayable PSX version.
4:10 for start of full run
i did not understand why they restarted it.
There was a donation bet as to which class would be used. When they last checked, Fighter was in the lead. A few minutes into the run they looked again and saw that the Cleric actually had a last minute donation which topped Fighter.
Nice run, although I prefer Heretic. Hopefully Heretic goes on GDQ sometime.
Yes ... I also used to play Heretic
This was so cool as a kid, really got into it, ... didn't understand it or reach too far... maybe it was demo.
20 cents to restart the run?
..why didn't they just close the donations and leave it at that?
FINALMENTE UM SPEED DE HEXEN
I love all the advancements Hexen brought to Doom's engine, as well as the overall look and textures, but I never got far at all. A real shame, imho.
how come it runs and looks HD instead of pixelated as the original, is it not on steam?

I have it in my n64, i love this game
I didn't understand very well, why did they restart the run?
There was a bid war for class to play, and fighter was winning up until the last little bit but cleric ended up sniping it, but they didn't realize that until after the run had already started. So since cleric won the bid war, they had to restart the run with that class
Which is notable since obviously they didn't "have to" do it but they did anyway. That's a nice sense of respect for the donators and viewers.
I see, thank you! :)
This was a favorite of mine. I love games with a quality co-operative system the best.
Throws flechette: *COUGH COUGH*
Cleric mode on this game is probably what Catechumen WANTED to be.
I was looking for a video description with a starttime to click on, but then the run started :D
I was happy that they restarted the run due to the snipe, but I feel like they need to be a bit more on top of those bid wars.

Am I the only one who laughs at "Korax Bleach"?
Man, even the Cleric knows his weapons suck. The BBQ, I mean firestorm animation is just him shrugging.
Hexen is very hard. Nice speedrun.
serpents = violator.
grizzlywhisker yep haha
Brutal Hexen when?
4:10, Hail Hexen
took me 6 hours to get to the twenty minute mark first time lmao
Why is this being run in ZDoom instead of the original executable?
Probably so people dont get blinded by humongous pixels =P

For Speedrun this game I just pick a random class and goes casper then done it quick :)
cleric is not a healer.
but he can lifesteal tho. and has the best late game weapon out of the 3
warrior just has the easiest weapons all round
mage has the best weapons early on. the ice is neat and the lightning stuns those shield dudes.
Actually, if you are playing a co-op game and the cleric has the pink potions he can heal the others if you stand close to him.
@@orinhill9097 with the mystic ambit incant he gives an aoe heal.
and of course, take a bath.
Thats bullshit that he has to start the run over again because of a last second donation towards the Cleric. To me I would say its too late for that Donation because the run has all ready started and made an into an automatic runners choice thing.
The donation was given within the time limit, the organizers just didn't catch it in time.
Way too small audience :c
Maybe they get bored watching the boring SGDQ anymore
Run starts at 3:13
Was already annoyed at the pronunciation of mana, then he said "gibs". Had to stop and breathe for a minute.
Lol... Firestorm makes it look like the character is pissing fire...
soft g on gib. gib = giblets
Lol wut you can get the paladin weapon almost right after you step outside the first teleporter after ringing the bell
"First" Run 2:52
Real Run 5:53
4:10
why dont he play hardest diff?
Matis Pure Usually, like Doom's nightmare, the last diff is just cheap(respawns, insanely fast/though enemies). The second to last is the hardest balanced option.

i find it ironic that duke3d speedrun is less popular than hexem
cleric is the best!

Huh and here I liked the cleric only to find out he was possibly the weakest of the classes.
love hexxen but cubeface its kind of boring : /
