- Experience of a virgin at the Barkley Marathons.
A great care was put into this video not to reveal the course of the Barkley Marathons. All part of the trails that can be glimpsed in this video
have been previously shown to greater extends in other documentaries.
Complementary footage provided by the RTBF is used with proper authorization.
A new trail running video every Tuesday.

Congratulations on your loop 1 finish! It was great to see someone in such remarkable spirits through the Barkley!
Well done, Guillaume! Best part: The books. Worst part: The books. Love it!

Fantastic that you were able to finish loop 1 and part on loop 2. You have such a great care free attitude ! It was actually cool to see video on the course !
The FORCE was with you for the first loop... great attitude not taking it all too seriously and keeping a nice sense of humor ...
Bravo Guillaume pour tout ce que tu fais, et merci de nous faire partager tous ces moments !!! Continue de nous faire voyager... Bonne continuation ;-)
Congratulations on loop 1! Love your videos, your channel is my new Netflix!
"Your channel is my new Netflix" Thanks!!
I would suggest if not seen already to go for "Journey", "Discover" and "crossing" in that order. The Tor des Géants video is quite unique too.
Cheers, thanks for watching!
Incrível! it's a big dream just be part of this history! Great job! I wish be there someday!
Congrats on finishing your loop!!! That is quite an accomplishment in itself!
Brian Case thanks! very happy with it indeed :)
I love that you don't want to give away info about the trails. Good job on your race.
+Brent H absolutly. I wanted to share the psychological experience, not the trails.

Great stuff! Fun to watch this from a 'noob' perspective. Glad you could share the footage, and still be within the guidelines
thanks! I really tried to focus on the experience.
Great effort! Amazing attitude as well.
awesome! congrats on your finish of loop 1...Brutal course! hoped you enjoyed Tennessee we have some great parks and trails. Hope to see you come back and get a fun run next time
+Chris Dills Tennesse was very welcoming :) will try to go for more if allowed to come back!
Great attitude!!! made my day just seeing how you enjoyed the experience
Thanks! After talking with people in camp, it is not really representative of the usual mood of runners. Hence why the "How you really sure you ran Barkley?"
No idea why it did that to me, but I take it :)
That was just american humor Guillaume Arthus. When you said you enjoyed the race. His reply of Are you sure you ran the Barkley was because saying you enjoyed it was not typical.
So glad you had fun, because thats all its about. Keep it up dude.
Je sais que cette vidéo date mais de te voir dans cette course mythique, c'est vraiment top!! Bravo pour ce tour!!
27 is my lucky number, and apparently yours too! Congrats on loop 1
You have an amazing spirit and went in with such a happy attitude!! Est-ce que la course est connue en France? I noticed you didn't have trekking poles and that surprised me. Well done on a stellar effort!! Was nice to see you in the Ginger Runner Live Show chat room as well!
Annick M the race is very famous here.
No poles indeed. I removed them from my runs about 2 years ago to improve my strenght. For Barkley, I was also concern it could actually be an handicap.
Cela fait plaisir de voir un jeune champion avec un mental très fort. Au deuxième tour, les jambes n'ont pas suivi la tête, dommage.
Jealous man, great attitude about the whole experience and congratulations!
His choice of outerwear was perfect. Protecting yourself from the elements and terrain is crucial to staying more comfortable. Also having new footwear every loop. And a shower and massage also.
Congrats, buddy. (y)
Pretty cool to see this event
Bravo mec, respect
Courage Guillaume!
maybe if there is only one person out on loop 5 they should collect the front covers
Warrior
Were you allowed to film this? I heard it's not allowed to film on course.
Lennart Zegerius please read the disclamer.
Oh my bad, I seriously downloaded your video right after my comment so I could rewatch it if it wasn't allowed. Great video!
No problem :) I was sure it was something like that :)
Could that guy at the registration table have been less enthusiastic about your plate? Great attempt. Sorry you had to drop out.
He's always that way. That's Laz. He's just a very mellow and laid back man, at least the persona who greets the racers. That man who accepted the license plate is the man who CREATED the race, and participated in many extremely difficult races himself when he was younger.
Not sure why he quit, he was moving well, etc
Not fast enough to be able to complete the 2nd loop in time.
Curious to know what headlamp you're using here. Thank!
I was using a Ferei HL50II with a deported battery pack. 2200 lumens max but used at 1100 lumens for 8.6 hours autonomy.
Just curious but how come at 4:13 or so when we see your watch it isn't one of the watches provided by Laz.
Michael Martin ? it actually is.
Ok sorry for the confusion u did great on your attempt any plans to go back?
yes, with proper training this time.
well done m8
your french is perfect!!!!
I am french^^
How do I get invited to the race??
You must have experience as an elite runner of trails. You must have the mental fortitude to endure extreme weather and hazards. I think you can email Laz directly to inquire about joining the Barkley.
Looks easy. Better send my letter to Santa at the North pole
Well done. Any regrets?
seoul588 none. extremely hard, extremely happy
Guillaume Arthus Nice one.
You were allowed to bring a camera on your loops?
KonkinWasRight please read the disclaimer.
Are you referring to the "disclaimer" in this video's description? I did read it. My question was, are you ALLOWED to bring a camera during your loops? From my understanding, Laz does not allow that and it would disqualify you. Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm just curious.
I was working with RTBF on this, which were allowed by Laz for very specific location to film some part of the course. Anytime you see the trails in this video are part of those locations.
Oh I see. Thanks for the clarification.
