Just now..your video just saved me $120 that the dealer wanted to charge for engine filter and labor. I am 62 year old handicapped lady and did this with a manual philips and a step stool (I am 4'11" lol) within 3 minutes. Bought the filter on Amazon for $12. Thank you!!!!! Next...tackling the cabin filter.

Dealer wanted to charge me $150 to “clean” the filter, not even replace it. Glad I saw this! $50 later, both the cabin and engine air filters were replaced. Thanks!

So right on the money savings. We just took our 2017 in for the 30k service at the local northern CA dealer and they wanted $850 for the minimum service package! The cabin and engine air filter change as a solo package “deal” was $120! Instead I’m able to do myself for $30-45 in parts. Thanks for this tutorial!

This was great - thanks so much! Dealership wanted to charge me nearly $40 to replace, so I decided to try to do it myself, and your video was exactly what I needed. I paid US $9.83 including tax for the replacement filter at Advance Auto Parts and it took just a few minutes for me to change it out. Two things:
    1) It was very helpful that you mentioned the 8 mm nut driver, because armed with that, I found myself initially trying to loosen the wrong bolts. When the 8mm didn't fit, I realized the bolts I wanted were next to where I had mistakenly started from.
    2) The auto parts store tried to sell me a differently-shaped filter from the one I needed. I have a 1.5T (turbo?) engine, which uses the rectangular filter shown in your video, but evidently the non-turbo engine uses a different filter (not a complete rectangle, but like a partial rectangle with a triangle on one end?). When the clerk took the first filter out of the box, it didn't look like the rectangle I had extracted from under the hood before I went into the store. Turns out they had to order the right one for me ("NPN"), which ended up costing a few dollars less than the one they initially thought I needed.

I am so excited I changed mine in 2 minutes, between this and and cabin air filter; I saved over $200 if done at the dealership. My technician was nice enough to tell me I can do it myself for a tiny fraction of their price. Thanks for your video!! :D

(I also changed my cabin filter. Cost me $10 and the shop was going to charge $50! I learned about that on RUclips too!)

Looking at that electrical harness and the housing connection to the air intake, I was really concerned about attempting this task. Viewing your video, I am amazed at how simple it is. Thank you for your efforts, and I take back all of the thoughts about Honda that went through my head when I first raised the hood with expectation of a DIY. Thanks to you, the veil has been lifted and I can do this.

I would suggest that you only use hand tools (8mm socket on a handle) when tightening the air filter cover screws. We used one dealer for all service on my wife's CR-V. I decided to change the oil, oil filter and air filter. Much to my surprise, three of the four air filter cover screws were snapped off! I took the car in for inspection and additional services and mentioned that somehow, three of the four screws were broken off (the broken off stud remained in the threads). I talked to the service manager and mentioned that they were the only ones to ever perform maintenance on this vehicle since we purchased it and I suspected that their tech must have broken off the heads when reinstalling the cover. Nobody ever mentioned this to my wife and the cover didn't seal very well possibly letting unfiltered air enter the intake manifold. To the service manager's credit, he got approval from his manager to replace the three broken bolts. So it is VERY easy to snap the heads off these air cleaner cover bolts ... DON'T use and impact gun for tightening!!

Brought my CRV in for an oil change and dealership showed pic of “my” apparently dirty old cabin air filter” as well as a dirty engine air filter. What they didn’t know is that my cabin air filter was just replaced a couple months ago, so very unlikely that those were pics of MY filters... SMH...

@@robsgaragewoodworkinHi Rob, thank you for the reply. The dealer usually recommend me first and gave me a quote on the price, I then have a choice to let them proceed or refuse.PS they also mentioned my tire was a little flat (another $50) My closest tire shop only costs $20!
In the past, I always let them do the work as they made it sound very severe. EG, last year they asked me to do a balance check which costed few hundred bucks. I let them proceed as I experienced couple puthole issue during the winter and thought it's safer to let them check ,or it may ended couple thousand bucks if there's a real problem. Anyways, it's really cool you know how to DIY, Thanks again! Jennifer

I would only buy the OEM or aftermarket equivalent. I would stay away from the K&N and
"performance" filters. Your best bet is just to make sure the filter is changed yearly or when dirty for best performance.

@@robsgaragewoodworkin thx great vid made it easy for me. The cabin filter is even easier! Just an FYI I went to Honda dealer parts dept to get OEM filter for engine and cabin filter- it was about 60 US dollars for both w/ tax. Also a tip for dyiers the cabin oem replacement (mine was 2019 crv) goes in sideways compared to original new cabin filter that slid in 'portrait'. Hard to screw up since if you try to go portrait it won't quite fit, only fits if inserted 'landscape.' Another clue is pleats should be in same orientation as one coming out. Also to note: air flow arrow should always point down toward floor. Thx again

Ryobi tools are crap man. Cmon

LOL! I can't afford the other brands. Every time they change batteries they screw their customers. Even if I have to replace a couple of Ryobi tools it's far cheaper than replacing all your tools to go from ni cad to lithium. Hell, I can get a whole set of new ryobi tools with two batteries for the price of one dewalt battery.

Esos mecánicos son unos sucios, debió de limpiar antes de colocar el filtro nuevo.
