Why do we have to move our front leg from kokutsu to zenkutsu? I've learnd that we have only to rotate our hip to make the gyaku zuki.

Since focus is on basic techniques you should strive to maintain proper stances at all time. Moving your feet to a zenkutsudachi you will automatically rotate your hips as you punch, whereas many who only rotate the hips from a kokutsudachi will lock their hips in place and limit the speed, reach, and power of their punch. Also, if you can avoid an attack by moving, it is generally preferable to do so. Hence many dojo put emphasis on legwork. Especially shotokan, wadoryu, and the like.

@@bjornf8518 i don't know but i've been told to only rotate my hip in stead of moving my front leg from kokutsu to zenkutsu. If i do the contrary it would be considered as a great foul. 3 days ago i saw sensei Kagawa tought the same thing that my sensei use to teaching me, then i presume it's the right way to do it.
