Nothing happens in the Shire? The Scouring of the Shire always felt like the actual culmination of events, saving their home with the strength and bravery they had grown into over the course of their adventures.
This is set in 2965, so the only major wartime event to have happened in the Shire was the Battle of Green Fields.
Sorry, I was replying to the general description of nothing happening in the Shire in the Hobbit and LoTR stories given at around the 3:20 mark, not the game. That's cool that the game is set like you describe though. It sounds like it gives a gaming group the ability to tell their own epic without worrying about a timeline of huge events like in the source material.

Nope. It was established pretty early in the episode that they already knew each other. This isn't some D&D-esque 'You Meet In A Tavern' party introduction.

Complicated answer? Both. This is a homebrew campaign, but we're starting with a premade adventure from Adventures in Middle-Earth, called Old Bones and Skin. However, once this adventure ends, it will lead into the greater world of Eriador and into my own homebrew content.
