    I wanted to offer a deep, heartfelt thanks to the GCN crew. Joe's remark at about the 90 minute mark was really gratifying. I wrote this adventure you're playing and to see the enthusiasm and delight you're all showing and embracing makes it worth all the work ten times over. Kudos to all of you and your wonderful roleplaying. Also, Alicia Marie's Lobelia is an absolute (if you'll forgive the owl pun) a hoot.

    @aliciamarie I love that you shared that "It's a rough road but you are the one meant to go through this. No one else can go through it for you." 11:50
    Sometimes life can feel impossibly difficult. But those are wise words to find the strength within myself to take one more step.

    I watched all 3 extended cuts of LotR in one day. I worked at a video store and could have 3 movies out at a time for free so i got them on my day off. It was an emotional rollercoaster. I had read the Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit many times so i was emotionally invested in it. I laughed, I cried, I took bathroom and meal breaks. Good times. I regret not seeing them in the theater, but i think it was more personal to see them in one lump sum.

    Upon hearing it was set in Hobbiton I was waiting for everyone's finest West Country accent; "O'er, 'ows about that then?", "Whatchya been doin' all locked up in this girt 'ouse?"
    Instead we get prime upper-class English, well and Joe's Scottish accent; "Why I do say - what a splendidly marv-el-ous house darling.", "Bilbo? Bilbo? Do be a dear and explain why you have gathered us all here today."
    Hilarious, but awesome.

      I thought that at first, but in the movies only Sam is West Country, Pip is Scottish, Merry is Northern and Frodo is a bit upper-class, so the gang are here are paying a decent homage to the movies!

    The GCN has knocked this out of the park once again. I felt like I was listening to a lost Lord of the Rings audio drama. It's that good. Granted it was a little slow at the beginning and this cast had some sillier moments... but they're playing hobbits, that encourages the people playing to be silly. This game is wonderful. I'm kind of interested in whether or not there is a character creation within this game. The original characters are so fun because you can interpret them how you want to, but the group is really into making sure these hobbits feel like they fit into the world. I really appreciate that. I'm excited to see the next episode. Keep up the great work ladies and gentlemen!

    I decided to check out the One Ring after seeing this episode (thank you so much for putting this together by the way), and I was very impressed. Another great book to add to my collection. My wife is currently GMing more cinematic RPGs, such as City of Mist, while I GM Pathfinder 2e. This game is such a fun mix between cinematic (or narrative in this case) and crunchy for LOTR enthusiasts (which we both are). I would love to see more games like this!

    Rules are a bit wrong. A unique travel equipment always gives you a bonus die for free to the skill in ( ). Under normal circumstances a player can spend hope to gain one bonus die, and if they use one of their distinctive features on any skill roll they can become inspired and spending a hope adds 2d6 to the roll.

    You guys talk about Tolkien moments being, "So metal," yet you fail to mention Blind Guardian's song, "The Lord of the Rings", or their album (one of the best power metal albums ever recorded) "Nightfall in Middle Earth". Check it out if you have not.

  • @Gruoldfar
    @Gruoldfar 2 года назад

    My problem with Middle-earth is it`s mostly a vast, empty space. I`ve played Merp some 30 years ago and despite lots of modules this feeling remains. Example, 3rd age, whats between Bree and Rivendell? Recently a group of friends played the one ring and they came out with the exact same feeling of a vast emptiness.

      The way I understand it - yes. Using her Keen-Eyed Distinction would have given her inspiration as well, giving her an extra success die, (hope). With all that, she should have rolled 2 Feat die and 3 success dice.

  • @Wickerless
    @Wickerless 2 года назад

    I have a question though. So in this game, the TN is written on your sheet, so you can determine if you succeeded with a roll or not. Does this then mean that there are no different difficilties to checks, since the TN is always just the same? I.e. if you want to awe Sauron or awe a local farmer, do these rolls have the same difficulty? Thanks for the answers.

    • @Wickerless
      @Wickerless 2 года назад

      @Full City Games Okay, I see. How does the DM get to manipulate the dice pool? Isn't that only influenced by the ticked boxes on the character sheet? I am noob, in case you were wondering :)

    • @Wickerless
      @Wickerless 2 года назад

      @Full City Games that feels a little punishing to me, doesn't players feel accomplished when they get new ticks and thus new success dice? I am not sure I like to see that taken away, even temporarily. But If I understand it correctly, the Loremaster can just say "okay, you are trying to awe Sauron himself, you lose 3 success dice for the roll", is this it?

    Free league tend to have lots of pictures and dead space in the books they make. Creating an over priced book who's rules can be condensed into 75 or so pages. That's why I'll never buy the game. However, MERPS from Iron Crown wad a great game.
