They were totally underrated. You wouldn’t have Metallica if it was for Diamondhead.
Just checked out “am I evil”. Pretty awesome. Sabbath meets megadeath
I thought Am I Evil was a Metallica original for a long time. I've grown to like the original a bit more. It just makes sense. The roots of metal. I recently heard them do a cover of Metallica's No Remorse and it sounds badass
I'm ashamed I didn't know them till now. Thanks for putting me on to them. They sound bluesy in like a led Zeppelin way but some songs are swung some straight ahead with notes. It's amazing. Like a bluesy iron maiden
As the old saying goes, better late than never.
I remember talking to Brian Tatler himself about Lightning and Diamond Head generally. He was one of the most down to earth guys I could ever have asked to meet, even gave me a pick and wished luck on my own guitar journey.
Always thought it was weird that you don't hear more bands talking about diamond head as an influence because if you listen to Lightning to the nations you can hear so many different bands mixed in
I absolutely fucking love diamond head
British metal be like: 🎸🔥☕️
Really groundbreaking music that still sounds 🔥 even today.
Their resent cover of no remorse is fuckin awesome!
"Sucking my Love" is my favorite Diamond Head song.
Reading the comments I see you’ve introduced some people to them. Beautiful man, spread the goddam word. You are doing metal a service giving newer listeners some history 🤘
I feel like they got easily buried by other popular bands of their time and are even now still overlooked and undervalued for their contribution to the heavy metal genre as a whole. As you mentioned here, Metallica was heavily influenced by Diamond Head (and obviously other new wave British heavy metal bands) so much so that they even did a cover of Am I Evil? which helped introduce many people to the band--myself included. It's really sad looking back and realizing how many talented bands who influenced your own favorite bands aren't shown enough love or given their due credit. Thank you for continuing to shine light on bands both big and small ❤. It shows that you're here to appreciate the history and to share knowledge and not just talking about solely well-known bands to get views.
Shit son... iv been jamming to DH 4 years even b4 the Metallica version of am I evil absolutely awesome AF
Love Diamond Head one of the first metal bands I hot I to in high school
I rembering hearing am I evil from the borrowed time album, instantly liked it and now know how to play it on guitar
I just listened to sucking my love and it’s amazing
Lars Ulrich put out a album called "Behold The Beginning". That was my first exposure to them. A writer from Kerrrang said about tatler and the band "theres more riffs in the first album than Sabbath had in their first four albums." I agree with that. Death and Progress is great and most recently them covering "NO REMORSE" IS OFF THE CHAIN!
Also, after i heard "sucking my love" i cant hear seek and destroy. The same way i feel about whiplash and ace of spades. Lars and James loves to invert them chords.
My mother was a witch she was burned alive. Love diamond head
I've recently got into Grim Reaper and they are now my favorite nwobhm band
I know Metallica did thier cover and I watched that video...maybe with the remaster....that you just told me TYVM. I will give the original a shot
Metallica wouldn't exist without Diamond Head, I love Lightning to the Nations. Ride the Lightning is a tribute to that exact album, hence the title. Also, them covering Am I Evil. They often said they were 50% Diamond Head, 50% Motorhead generally speaking. Of course that is in board terms.
Until Metallica never heard of them. Back then unless it got played on a radio or someone you knew got the record because of the cover art it was easy to miss bands. If it wasn’t for one guy who traveled to England for a summer school band outing( bag pipes no less) my entire high school would not of heard of Iron Maiden until Run to the Hills started to get a little airplay almost two years later.
Has anyone ever told you that you look like Al Jourgenson with all the evil sucked out of him?
You look like goat from mtv down town
wait what people dont know about diamond head??
Lol Metallica practically stole they thing from Diamondhead, Diamondhead is amazing
The band metallica ripped off
Very unrated band they should have been bigger like anvil
Metallica's am I evil cover got me into DH.
