I always love seeing Christmas cards being recycled. I also die cut mine and then make my own cards and tags from them, the possibilities are endless! I love the idea of keeping the card fronts whole and using them as postcards, that's something I would never have thought of! Thanks for the inspo!
I just subscribed and really enjoyed your video and how you go through each step. I had a hard time, though, concentrating because of the background music. I will continue to enjoy your videos and instructions. Thank you.
Hi Connie! Thank you for the feed back. I was still learning to edit and since this video I don’t do music any more but if I do in the future it will not be annoying. I’m not able to edit it once it is uploaded. Thank you so much for watching.
My great-grandmother would punch holes on the edges of cards and crochet in them together, making "gingerbread houses" to hold her cookies and candies.
Fabulous! I had a similar thought and have some cards that I can recycle. Didn't quite know what to do with them but you have given me quite a lot to think about. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you Sweet Solae! I have a big container with all kinds of paper scraps. One of my goals next year is to use a good portion of the paper scraps. 💞
I really need to get one of those die cutting machines. I have been making cards and gift tags as well, and I love your ideas presented here. I have already made all of my cards for this Christmas and some gift tags as well. I use some of the full card face for making a new card on pre made stock or sometimes two cards with pretty colored stock behind it. Great summer project to beat the heat. LOL. Thanks for sharing your ideas. Have a Blessed day.
Warning. die cutting machines are addictive. I have an A4 file filled with 20 magnetic sheets of die cuts PLUS a smaller pocket file of 20 pages of pockets with 6 pockets per page for small dies & I STILL need to store the Tim Holtz, Tattered Lace & Olga Directorenko dies in other boxes & folders
I wish you had showed the finished cards. I have been recycling cards since I was 12 and I'm 67 now. always in for some new ideas. I agree about the music, you don't need it.
WOW!!! Great Share THX! New Subscriber here from Deanna Channel! Basically I'm new to the crafting family and learning so much from all the Wonderful Clever Artist out in the RUclips World! Looking forward to more videos!
Enjoyed this video and love this idea! It would have been much better if there wasn't music in the background though. I just subscribed and will enjoy watching your other videos. TFS
I cut my Christmas cards up to make new cards to donate to seniors, but I usually just die cut them down to 4x5.25 to fit on an A2 card base. It's very quick so I can easily remake about 100 cards from an exchange I'm part of. I haven't ever played with other shapes, but these look great! I want to get some tag dies and try this out.
Hello! The senior citizens will love your cards. You can get A2 based with envelopes at Hobby Lobby. Amazon also has them. Here is the link to Amazon: Blank White Cards and Envelopes 100 Pack, Ohuhu 4.25 x 5.5 Heavyweight Folded Cardstock and A2 Envelopes for DIY Greeting Card, Weddi... a.co/d/cKTaLB2
@@daniellegibellina998 I use A2 size because it's a sheet of regular letter sized cardstock cut in half and then folded in half, so I can buy cardstock in bulk and make my own bases with no waste. But there are lots of places to buy A2 card blanks - any craft store should have them.
Hi Maureen! Thank you so much for stopping by. I got my tag dies from aliexpress. If you don’t like ordering items from China, Amazon also has them and also a wide range of shapes. My big shot is older. I do not think the black one is sold in stores anymore. It is a Sizzix brand. You can purchase a manual die cut machine on Scrapbook.com,Amazon, Facebook marketplace, try garage sales, thrift stores. Happy Crafting! 💞
I will look for one - not really a crafter but have boxes and boxes and boxes of about 70 years of Christmas, Easter< birthday etc cards- my family never threw them out and now I have them all- and just found another 10 boxes from an elderly relative that just pasted - just don-t want to get rid of- some I have scrapbooked (special memories)and some Christmas ones I have framed and put out at the holidays - fast great vintage art @@crafterstreats2017
@@Niamh07421 wow, what a special way to remember your family members by going through the cards and also admire or draw inspiration from the vintage art on the cards. Thank you for sharing that. Happy crafting!
Using dies is amazing for getting the most diverse results: A xmas card with houses, for example, becomes wonderfully diverse tree branches & leaves which look far more realistic than if you use inks or paints.
I have been recycling my Christmas cards for many years now, but have always just used my scissors and a hole punch to make gift tags. What machine are you using to cut with the dies?
Hi Diane! I’m so happy you have been recycling your Christmas cards. It is a money saver. I use a manual big shot. Do you also recycle your other non Christmas cards?
@@crafterstreats2017 No, I haven’t recycled anything except Christmas cards because we don’t exchange other cards in our family any longer nor gifts except at Christmas.
I was expecting something far more innovative. I use dies to recycle xmas cards, but don't limit myself to making tags with them. One year, yes, I used circle dies to cut roundels, which I then mounted on doilies, but I die cut Santa sleighs & sacks, leaves, branches & all sorts of ephemera which can then get stored for use not just in xmas stash, but year round.
Great video, I’m going to get out all my old Christmas cards and get started. I don’t think you need the music it was a little irritating to while you’re talking. Thank-you for sharing. 🌸
Great idea here from Deanna channel! Enjoyed your ideas wish there was no music...hard to focus with it in the background darlin’. TFS! Have a great day! Hugs 🤗 Christine
It was one of my first videos and I did not know how to turn the volume down. I am not able to turn it off now. The downfall to learning editing skills. 🤦🏻♀️TFW

Tyvm for sharing that. I'm going to do that with my grands. So much fancy expensive stuff these days. It's nice to do it old school.
I remember pretty bowls made from card panels crocheted together. Mom used to fill them with Christmas candy.❤

My very thought! If music is essential, pick something which doesn't turn your brain to mush. I ended up with captions and silence.

Where did you all get the dye cutting machine?
Hi! I got my machine from Amazon.
What if you don't have that machine?
You can always find a tag shape online, print it out, cut it and trace it on the card. That shape can get reused as your template.

Lose the music please. It doesn't add anything to your video. If anything it takes away from your project.
