First time I have seen one of your videos. Boy am I glad I stopped to watch it. Great inspiration and loads of ideas.. Money is kind of tight for me this year and I have so many things already here in my home that I could re-purpose and make journals, and notebooks, and cards out of as gifts for Christmas. I am so excited. I went to Dollar tree and got a few supplies I needed and I am ready to start making some magic around here just me and my cat!
I have cards going back to the 1960's. I keep thinking I'll do a craft with them. This is a great idea. Thank you. I'm thinking now they would be great to put family recipes on them for whatever holiday the card relates to. Your idea expanded my idea. Thank you. I'm glad I found your video.
I'm with you, I never throw away my Christmas cards. I have recycled them so that I do not have to buy Christmas cards. They are about the size of those " Barn Door" cards. Now I am using them in journals. I love your ideas for how to use them, too. I absolutely love the snippits pockets that you create. I love the laces and material that you put on the side of the papers. Thank you for the many ideas.
I have many Christmas cards I have saved thru the years and have just started a journal utilising a lot of them. Thank you for giving me more ideas in ways to use them! 😊👍🎄❤
I love Holly Hobby too! It's funny though, because I didn't like her when she first came out and was the new "cool" thing lol. I had to get old to like her, haha
I recently created a baby journal for my friend's daughter and used all of the cards from her baby shower in the journal. Here's the link if you'd like to see it ... ruclips.net/video/th81X-wJEBY/видео.html ... It would be a wonderful way to keep your great granny's cards!
So Stinking Cute 😂. You crack me up and make me smile! My line is “Oh my stars” 😂 .Great use for all those cards that we just can’t throw out. Merry Christmas 🎄
Thank you Diane - I’m sooo inspired by your Christmas ideas video!❤️ I’ve started making a few French vintage Noel tags for my blog and Insta friends. Now I’m going to take them to the next level by adding a pocket and little book on the back of the tag with my stash of old Christmas cards,🎄 I’ve subscribed to your channel and look forward to your next video. Take care and enjoy the season of Advent!🧚♀️✨💫
Im new to crafting and loved your book. Could you explain what it is and what you used it for. I just moved from fl outdoors all the time to nebraska stuck inside all the time ! I would love to try this for next year thank you so much.
Hey Linda! tfw! Journals are used for an array of different things. I guess you could call them the new version of a scrapbook for some, some use it as a diary, some use them for their travels, some use them for memory keeping, some use them for to do lists and grocery lists, some use them for art journalling. You can pretty much use them for whatever you like, but it is simply an outlet to put your art and memories in one place. Perfect for those stuck inside, doll!
Here’s a tip for times when your stapler won’t reach. Pull the bottom of the stapler into the open position. Put a scrap of foam board or an old mousepad underneath your papers. Staple as needed. One more little step...as the prongs of the staples will still be straight, not folded, bend the staple ends closed with pliers, or bone folder, or the flat side of your scissors. Voila! No long reach stapler needed.
hi Diane, enjoyed watching you upcycle Christmas cards! I've been saving mine forever and do the same. I just made a mini writing journal using one to tuck in the front pocket of a 3 ring binder i made for my Holiday/Smashbook/Glue book/December Daily Journal. i'll have a place to jot things down know matter how lumpy and bumpy the pages in the journal get! String & A Thread-hee hee, i didn't even notice until you mentioned it! i was wondering if you've ever done a little tour/show and tell of how you use your Small cabinets/drawers organizer? it would be fun to see what kind of goodies you use it for (and help motivate me to get mine organized-haha) just a thought. thanks so much for doing this video - very inspiring and that journal is gorgeous!!! you have such a unique and fun style!! Happy Thanksgiving Diane :)
Aw! I had a wonderful Thanksgiving and I hope you did as well! I did a tour of my craft room a long time ago ... it was 2 videos. Here are the links for you ... ruclips.net/video/eNJAtri5TD0/видео.html ruclips.net/video/UiHms-aRYzY/видео.html
A newbie here with some questions...how did you cover the binder...is it fabric or paper, and how did you keep your pages lined up to go into the six ring binder.
Welcome friend!!! I covered it with fabric, there's a tutorial on how to do it on my channel. I usually use a page from the original book as a template to punch all the rest of my pages and it keeps them lined up. thank you so much for coming to be my friend!
This is the most darling journal I've ever seen.. I love Christmas and I love Holly hobby.. I'm just starting in journaling. Which Christmas book did the pages come out of? And did you use all the pages from the Christmas book into your journal? Or did you only choose the ones you like out of the book to use in the journal?? Thank you for all your help to our crafting community by giving us these amazing videos and tutorials...
Good Morning! I used a few different books in this journal. I used the whole "Night Before Christmas" book, and then I used a few pages from a little golden book and a few pages from a southern living Christmas book. Thank you so much! tfw
This is such a great idea, I don’t get tons of Christmas cards, but I have saved every card, I’ve ever received as an adult, I love your journal it’s so creative, The cover is phenomenal was that from stamps or ? nice job xx💚 subscribed 😁
Me either, really. Maybe 1-2, I don't get much of anything for cards or gifts anymore, since I can't really give gifts, (money & too hard to get out and shop) I don't get them. I guess it is fair? Smh lol
I find them in thrift shops and reuse them! It doesn't have to be cards you receive ... it can just be cards you think are pretty and find at thrift stores and yard sales!

I miss getting them every year....last year we got 4....😢
I know, right! It seems like cards are becoming a thing of the past. It's sad but true

Love it! Will you be making anymore?
I am making a custom order one. If you'd like one, I can make 2 at the same time?

thank you, Lynn! The cover is actually some fabric my sweet friend sent to me. I think she got it from Hobby Lobby. It was already printed. tfw
My sister would love this Journal. Is it for sale?
aw, it was but it already sold! I'd be happy to make a custom order if you'd like?
how did you cover the binder
I did a tutorial on this one to show you how ... here's the link ... ruclips.net/video/tEz-LoEkk34/видео.html
Unfortunately people no longer send cards. They use emails or texting.
I know 🫤 It's sad isn't it
True. Postage is expensive. It used to be the anticipated missive from those living far away. Now we stay in contact so easily.
Sorry to say I don't get any Christmas cards
