    There is great potential for playable characters if they do plan on adding more. So many fun boss archetypes to choose from that you rarely get to play as.

      I totally agree with you. My guess is that there are plans for other playable characters given that there were puddle and ice tiles that didn't interact much with the elements that we had available.

    Was fun at first but you quickly realize it needs some major design changes. The whole phase system doesn't work well when a single attack can send you from phase 1 to phase 3 skipping 2 entirely. Timed turns server no purpose. Card balance is all over the place.
    Devs have gotten plenty of feedback on discord but seem pretty set on keeping things the way they are.

    • @QuanticFlux
      @QuanticFlux  22 дня назад +1

      Great point about the phases. The runs seem pretty long, so my guess is that as you get more health the difference in phases becomes more clear. Definitely not noticeable in the demo though. I didn't even realize that there were timed turns, unless I'm misunderstanding what you're saying.
      I definitely think that ignoring polite and constructive feedback is a detriment to most games, so I wonder why the devs are ignoring their player base.

    • @lavan1892

      @@QuanticFlux Yes you get more health but enemy damage scales as well. They might fix that but they've shown no desire to do so even. Really silly to be selling the game as "Be a raid boss" and then get chunked for a third of your health in 1 hit/turn in any fight.
      The timer is decent length so its not horrible but very easy to forget its there and go to grab a drink or use the bathroom or someones at the door etc and come back to a skipped turn, or like you some people don't notice it to begin with and would be confused when they got back and they're down half their health.
      The part that drives me crazy is they already have a turn based game that they're doing great with and seem to listen to feedback on, just feels like this one is a different team/lead that didn't learn at all from the existing one.

    • @QuanticFlux
      @QuanticFlux  22 дня назад +1

      Ah, I see. I guess if the enemy damage scales at the same time as your health then it won't make much of a difference. I wonder why the devs won't accept feedback? If the feedback is phrased in such a way as some of the comments I'm seeing on this video, I can understand why they might be resistant to it. If it's polite though I think it would be a good idea to embrace it.
      Gotcha. I honestly don't see the point of having a timer either. I don't think it really adds anything to the game since it's so long that I didn't notice it. I could see it being used to add tension if it was much shorter, but personally I wouldn't like that very much.
      Huh, that's very strange. I guess that goes back to what I said above. If people are just being aggressive and rude I would probably ignore them too, but if it's constructive I don't see why they wouldn't listen, especially if they've done so in the past.

      I'm honestly confused as to why. There were definitely things that could be done better, but it's a demo and there's nothing that I've seen that's so egregious that it deserves this level of hate.

      The is the first video on it I've seen so can't really speak to what they're mad about but from personal experience its less the game and more the devs. Their other game was great so expected good things from this one but the devs just don't seem to care about feedback that isn't a bug report, so many complaints about core systems with suggestions on how to fix it that just get ignored. When everyone on the discord gives the same feedback you would think that would be something they'd look into but I guess not.

    I like the idea, but way they made it - sucks. Imagine. 80 feet tall giant dragon, using all his power to put down one little pesant with wooden club.
    Is that what "Raid boss" do ? Struggle to deal any damage ? Is that a fantasy genre or dog crap ?
    Dude, lizard, just fly up, and use dragon breath to turn whole city to ash, putting down tens of thousands in a seconds ?
    Thats the problem with those games, devs can't make it too OP, or no challenge, so they making "bad guys" you play as - even weaker than peasants in vilage.

    • @QuanticFlux
      @QuanticFlux  22 дня назад

      I see what you're saying. How would you handle it? I've seen some games have you play as like the ultimate boss, and then at the very beginning of the game you lose all of your powers for whatever reason. Is that something that you would prefer, or are you saying you don't like the idea of playing as the ultimate bad guy since that inherently means that they should be super strong?

    • @katastrofa025
      @katastrofa025 22 дня назад

      @@QuanticFlux Oh i do like to play as bad guy, if the game is about that. Most games is doing everything they can, just to not make you feel good doing it - being bad, everyone is so nice, so good, and you only asshole against them, they just make you regret it. But there is more games come out, where everyone is bad, and you don't need to pretend being good, just because it's shameful to be bad, and you can do as you want (and mostly, by being bad, means, defend yourself and get stronger, against other's will, because they hate you.)
      And to power level problem...
      Just scale it up, yes, you might be raid boss, BUT, you are not the only one. Burn too much peasants, someone else whill show up. So compared to any *normal* creatures you are raid boss, but maybe not the strongest one exist.
      There is super realistic thing that happen every time, in most games with politics, in most books about bad guys, in real life too. The more threat you posses, the more others will unite against you. Piss everyone enough, and you gonna be alone against whole world. Can burn single city, but try burning whole planet, example. Devs can make strong raid boss to play as, but its too much effort, just easier to make him weaker than peasant and "play as you want". And, we all know how "raid" bosses ends up. They got raided and looted.

      @@katastrofa025 I usually don't enjoy playing as bad guys because I feel guilty about it, as you said. I think that there's a difference between being genuinely evil and just sort of selfish though.
      Hmmm. I think I could see that idea working. That might lead you more into like a score chaser or RPG type game though. I'd have to see how it was implemented, but I'd be willing to give something like that a shot. Sounds like fun!

    A demo should make people excited about a game not be full of bugs right in the intro...

      I think it's a bit unfair to say that there's nothing unique about the game. I can definitely understand it not being everyone's cup of tea, but I think that there are unique mechanics in the game. For example, I've not seen a deckbuilder that focuses so much on elemental combos or tile placement. That being said, I definitely agree that the UI could use some work. @QuanticFlux  24 дня назад +1

      Oof, that sounds rough. Definitely sounds like it shouldn't be offered as a first fight. I suspect that the 50 damage attack probably had a like "take 0 damage if you have armor" deal, but still that's very frustrating when you don't know how to get armor yet.
