In this Slay the Spire gameplay, Baalorlord does an Ascension 20 run with Silent. First, he gives tips on choosing a path and a starting bonus. Later on, he explains his decision for each card he chooses and why it's important to the build. Towards the end, he gears up for an epic Heart fight you don't want to miss. I use a few mods for Slay the Spire. All of them are Quality-of-Life improvements and do not have any effect on the gameplay. Here are all of the mods I have active:

I recently started to watch Baalorlord's run clips. Now when I play StS, everytime I have to make a decision, the voice in my head speaks in Baalorlord's voice.

This sort of self-imposed challenge is just about the only thing that could make you unhappy to see Face of Cleric from that event lol

I caught the beginning of this run live and had to work starting at act 2, what an ending! 1 HP wow!

I've been watching Baalor for a long time now and I usually never hear him swear so the few times I do notice it are sort of suprises. I like little details like that

Silent is the first on I beat the heart with and is hands down my favorite character to run
This is a hella fun run, but you gotta let these stressful ends simmer a lit bit before trying to serve up your next video. Only thing preventing your videos from being perfect. Feels like I'm lying in bed, about to light up a cigarette and enjoy some post-coital bliss, when your twin jumps up from under the bed: "Hey there. If you enjoyed that lover, try this one next!"

I seriously don't know how you make all these weird decks work, lol. Such a shame to see so few shivs with kunai though. Pantograph coming in clutch though!
I love the bomb for sure. If you can have the extra energy to spend it's a great card. It's like the generic alpha

Been sub since like a month, went from defect A7 to unlock A20 secs ago, so ty for tips. I would never have commit to use energy cards that burn hp on clad or that put trash in pile with defect before but it's really good actually

Finisher is good with runic pyramid + shiv deck
I have to say, Pocket watch has to be one of if not the most cursed relic in the game. There are other relics which are arguably worse, sure, useless a lot of the time or only marginally helpful, but pocket watch forces you to constantly play a maddening gamble which I’m not entirely sure is actually worth its weight for most late game decks. Sure, it’s absurd early game, and the perfect choker deck would love it, but I’ve come to the conclusion that mid to late decks should treat it as little more than a centennial puzzle that might proc one or two additional times
Mind you, I think it was moderately effective this run mainly at dealing with a lack of removals, allowing baalor to skip starter cards and draw the good stuff more often. It also helped that. A solid block plan per card helped too. But I’m not convinced this run could not have done better without the pocket watch regardless. Choosing not to play cards can cost you, and even choker still lets you play six. Ultimately it’s the mind games I think that crush me; it is far too straining for a tired Jordan

Hey baalor great content keep it up! There is a suggestion for ya. Since i watch you on youtube i know if you post new video it will be a successful run. How about from time to time you post failed attempts with analysis why the run failed :) That way we wont know if that run was a success or a failure

What was that almost infinite money seed or thread? Interested to pull it off. :)
It no longer works. The Knowing Skull event now increases the amount of damage it causes if you keep clicking an option. It used to be possible to click the money option from it, and the Bloody Idol and Tungsten Rod would heal/prevent all damage from being taken, and you could just keep clicking it over and over. That interaction has since then been patched out.
there's another infinite money exploit(?) other than the one Baalor was talking about, but it's super difficult to achieve since it requires prismatic shard, a wish, and two nightmares. Just dupe nightmares, then dupe wishes, wish for money, repeat. If you have The Courier, you can buy every relic that's still in the merchant's relic pool :)

Really feels like Silent is the weakest character... or maybe she's just best at squeezing out a win with the slimmest margins? Is this reflected in your win rate?
I exclusively played her to reach Ascension 20 (didn't bother with the other characters ... yet?) and it really was a tough challenge.
well her starter deck is by far the worst as she has the most junk cards so she has the hardest time getting off the ground she also has the hardest time dealing damage especially early and so much of spire is a damage race.
I think her card pool in general is really strong for late game, but horrible for floor 1. You have to spend most of floor 1 just trying to survive now instead of getting some headway on scaling which other characters can do.
Kind of. It's pretty widely agreed on that Silent has the worst act 1 at high ascension. Her starting deck and common pool are both light on upfront damage, which is the main thing tested by most of the early fights.
Her late game tends to be strong if you get that far though. Decks need a good block plan and good hand control to beat act 4, and Silent tends to be amazing at both. She's probably the single best character at abusing Runic Pyramid which is maybe the strongest boss relic in its own right, and she can be almost as good as Ironclad at abusing Dead Branch. I don't know my stats offhand but out of just my runs that make it to act 4, I'm pretty sure I win the most often with Silent.

First time I was genuinely confused by your plays. You seemed obessed to keep the pocketwatch under 3 (and get reapeteadly punished by it) but missed a lot of unceasing top action by doing it.
I agree, and the bullet time too, though he did use that card more often than unceasing top. Like I get that card draw is very important, and bricking draws is a very easy way to lose a close fight, but I also wonder: what's the point of more draw if you're not allowing yourself to play the cards you got from the draw? Think this kinda goes against his own advice that doing things now is better than setting things up for later (hence why he tends to avoid cards like Collect on Watcher and Forethought). I suppose it kind of makes sense if you don't think you can guarantee lethal this turn and next turn, but still.
Edit: okay, been thinking about it for a bit more for why pocketwatch > top, and believe its because pocketwatch is generally more reliable than unceasing top, as you could brick by drawing ascenders bane or another card you can't lose, AND THEN not draw three extra cards next turn, so it was more him trying to be cautious, which was good for him at some points and bad in others.
@@cameronschyuder9034 yeah, as long he beats A20, who are we to tell he should have played differently.
But that doesn't change the fact that he forgot to activate unceasing top without drawback several times
how can you tell he got punished though? did you actually go through and see how his draws would have been changed specifically throughout the whole fight? because drawing 3 cards doesn't just change your draw this turn, it changes it for all future turns
Fun run to watch but some excitement gets taken out since most if not all your videos end with you winning the run. Have you ever thought about putting in close runs that you lose?
