An Indonesian here : For you Mark and anyone else in the comment section, the 2nd game was based from Indonesia. It was Indomie Mie Goreng, a brand of instant fried noodles. The reason why the character says "I need to buy water." is because we don't (and shouldn't) use tap water for drinking or cooking because the tap water in Indonesia is not hygienic enough. It is good enough for washing and bathing but you'll get stomachache if you use it for drinking or cooking. Hence, the character need to buy "proper" clean water usually in the form of drinkable bottled water.
@@ZukiJyanu While you can indeed kill all the bacteria and microorganism by boiling tap water, I think it's more of a cultural thing for most people here to not use tap water altogether for drinking/cooking.

The second game is very typical Southeast Asian/Indonesian and I can tell you all sorts of things about the game: - The noodle packet in the game actually a very recognizable Indonesian instant noodle brand called Indomie and this packet is the fried noodle flavor (Indomie Rasa Mie Goreng), it is said to be one of the best tasting instant noodle to currently exist. Unfortunately, recently the inventor of Indomie Mie Goreng passed away and the food technology community and college sophomores (who would heavily rely on the product) are in grief and would verbally paid respect for her contribution. - The stomach ache part due to Indomie overdose is hilarious to me since it's very relatable. Many Indonesians would complain the fact that 1 packet is not enough to fill you up, but 2 packets is just too much and upsets your stomach. Most people would go for the "Jumbo" version of the Indomie since 1 Jumbo is more than a regular packet but not enough to upset your stomach. - The brand of the gas stove top is also very recognizable called Rinnai. The design is exactly like that with the black and brown accents. - The bathroom is very typical Southeast Asian: Squatting toilet and big deep resevoir to hold water with a small plastic bucket. As an Indonesian, I'm kinda disappointed that the bucket is not heartshaped since the heartshaped bucket thing is basically an Indonesian meme and they would joke about how they can find this specific plastic bucket in almost every single toilet. - The green plastic chair with that very design is also very typical of Southeast Asian. You can find this kind of chair everywhere from restaurants, sidewalks, to outdoor wedding events. It's usually considered an "outdoor chair". - The little kiosk are usually called "warung" in Indonesian and it's like a more traditional style of a minimart. Most "warung"s are usually part of the owner's private house, so it's common for people to enter their private homes to go buy something. - That lightswitch with that specific design is also commonly found everywhere in Indonesia, but I forgot the specific brand name. - Indonesians are still very superstitious, so the game might be based on an urban legend, but since I'm personally not a big fan of urban legends, I really don't know (?) That's all I can get from the game. The creator of the game really did a great job potraying a simple Indonesian life.
I'm Canadian but that green plastic chair immediately registers in my head as an outdoor chair, since we have those at my grandma's house, my mom's house, my house, and my best friend's parents house. Before reading your comment I never really thought about how those might not universally just be outside chairs, but that's really interesting. I wonder if it's just regional where I live or if that's also a Canadian thing as well, since the more I think about it the more common I realize those chairs are here too (also green, also that style, also usually only outdoors. My first thought on seeing that was why he had an outdoor chair instead of a dining chair lol)
I like how permanent the stamina felt in the first game. While it did slowly recover it was a lot more punishing to use it up when you didn't need it. Felt it was a much more realistic implimentation of stamina.
I like that mechanic as well, mostly because that bar is so large. It recovers slowly so you have some hope of outrunning the threat, but in the end it crushes that hope. The threat doesn't ever walk more quickly, as you go out of breath more and more and the crowd is stopping your escape. But if you're careful, you have more than enough to find the exit. That's cool.
There was a dialogue or something he actually missed that explained why he had no water. Gabs Smolders played it and included it. It explains that the game's from Indonesia, where the tap water is unsafe to drink, so they have to buy pure water.
The story about the homeless man seems interesting, there's a lot of horror stories about homeless people you hear about on the news. In Memphis sometimes "kids" would go around hunting homeless people with a 22 and shoot them while in their makeshift beds. there are other stories of them getting beaten and stabbed to death or forced to take homemade drugs, but the idea of kids hunting human beings at night like a hunter hunts deer is probably the most terrifying thing I've hear coming out of Memphis.
@ca44444 Because coming from yours truly who has lived by Memphis, it’s crazy. There would be a mugging story on the local news almost every night. Glad I got outta there tbh
The first game is defiantly inspired by IT Follows. I see a lot of potential. 2nd looks good but short. The 3rd game has got potential as well and about time Molly Moon got her own game. After seeing her videos. I thought they would make a good quirky games. Hopefully she either expands the story or does many short stories. Either way can't wait for the full release.

I've been on the Internet a long while, gotten used to alot of weird scary interpretations. Noodles at Night finally got me; quite Masterful. We've all been there, nothing to hear or any fast movements. Just having to walk down to the store late at night and something smells funny and that's all your mind can stick to. The second game had to be one of the most unnerving games I've seen in a while. The absence of music, the quiet. Wow!
first game was SUPER interesting, but I am not over whatever prompted the pov character to go "hm, yeah, i should totally go to where a shooting just happened, nothing bad can happen there" like that is the most horror protagonist move ever
the first game is really unique with how it executes it's setting: it's full of people, while other horror games would have you only in a lone location with nobody but you and the monster. i really haven't seen anything else from a horror game. but the horror that, even among people, you can feel isolated and alone... really well done!

Kinda gives away exactly how much danger you're in. Maybe add it as a hard mode, I dunno. Other than that, it looks pretty novel!
I recognize the noodle package from the second game, it's indomie stir fry ramen and its one of the best noodles. Funnily the packages are a little small so I make two when I'm hungrier as well. You can find them in the imports section in a supermarket or Amazon has them for 1.20 a pack, I can only find them in person at my local Kroger for about 70 cents a pack but ymmv. They're great noodles but they're more of a yakisoba type deal and not soup, you put all five seasoning packets it comes with into a bowl then mix in the cooked noodles with only a little water. You'll never go back to normal ramen, just a warning.

@@dangerxbadger2300plus many of these videos have 4 or more games for when he plays super short games
even MORE if you count special episodes where he's played more than three
The second game is very typical Southeast Asian/Indonesian and I can tell you all sorts of things about the game:
- The noodle packet in the game actually a very recognizable Indonesian instant noodle brand called Indomie and this packet is the fried noodle flavor (Indomie Rasa Mie Goreng), it is said to be one of the best tasting instant noodle to currently exist.
- Indonesians are still very superstitious, so the game might be based on an urban legend, but since I'm personally not a big fan of urban legends, I really don't know (?)
That's all I can get from the game. The creator of the game really did a great job potraying a simple Indonesian life.
As an Indonesian, every single one of these details feels so nostalgic. God I miss living there and going to warungs for nasi goreng.
Mark in the past - That could be an ambitious project, having my lights sync up with a game's day night cycle.
His lights - Fine, I'll do it myself.

That's cool.
ikr! so smart fr

In Memphis sometimes "kids" would go around hunting homeless people with a 22 and shoot them while in their makeshift beds. there are other stories of them getting beaten and stabbed to death or forced to take homemade drugs, but the idea of kids hunting human beings at night like a hunter hunts deer is probably the most terrifying thing I've hear coming out of Memphis.

boil noodles at night is a game made by a 16 yo student in indonesia and also the noodles we call it Indomie Goreng or Fried Noodle in english, it's very good and basically you can eat it as a food or snack together with an egg as shown in the game and many workers or students in indonesia that live alone in a dorm or an apartment, they always have that but basically us indonesians always have that in our kitchen😁
So it's like the Indonesian version of ramen.
I'm an Aussie, but as soon as I saw it was mi goreng, i completely understood why they wanted those noodles so much
wkwkwk kaget pas lihat ada indomie, nice info
Those are SO good. I need to find some again 😅
I'm not Indonesian but I could tell it was the Mi Goreng brand of noodles pixelated. I bought them off Amazon and they were delicious. Side note: they are not ramen you just boil the noodles and dump the water, mixing the wet noodles with the seasoning packets. I also recommend frying an egg to put on top.

Honestly, I think that first game would do the "it could be anyone" premise much better if it only played the suspense music when the thing is very close, not just when it is in your sight. Kinda gives away exactly how much danger you're in.
Maybe add it as a hard mode, I dunno. Other than that, it looks pretty novel!
You (and everyone else who enjoyed the first game) would love the 2014 movie It Follows
and add some lore.. its really nice to see the first game got lore expanded..
Its not ramen, even though it gets boiled, its not ramen. You're not wrong about the yakisoba comparison though.
