the concept that 'rinse and repeat' had is amazing. if i remember correctly there's this mythological phenomenon that if you fear something for long enough or be paranoid about something inherently 'bad' happening it will manifest into an enitity; you manifest what you fear. a game where the players actions: being paranoid, checking corners, etc would manifest their fear of something being there, real. it is so cool.
There was a whole Supernatural thing about it, like say the Bible could make people believe in God hard enough for him to actually exist. It's fascinating.

afaik that's also just a general theory about the supernatural and deities and whatnot. Humans create things through collective belief, and if enough of us stop believing in a thing, it ceases to exist. Fascinating stuff, honestly. It even happens with mundane things: I've had a really bad cold the past couple days, but as soon as a friend who I'd seen 4 days prior said they popped a positive COVID test, I started to lose my senses of taste and smell. And as soon as I tested negative twice, they came back. Brains are way too powerful, yo xD

Agreed, very cool concept. It feels like an infohazard. Like Roko's basilisk, where just being aware of such things basically screws you over. It's also self-perpetuating, with is terrifying to me. Very neat.

The second one is interesting. The way to win is to never check for monsters. What a fascinating concept for a horror game.
It’s genius, honestly. Since feeling most vulnerable when washing your hair (eyes closed, fully unclothed, hands occupied) seems to be a universal feeling. On top of it, it establishes itself as a horror game, so without prior knowledge, you’d assume that you NEED to check for monsters, causing you to do so, and continuing to do so because of the signs of monsters you’re seeing.

The last one is so cool; it trains you to keep anyone out so you automatically do it properly the second time which ends up preventing the third character from escaping! Such an interesting concept, I wish Mark went back and showed us if you could escape
ive seen a few youtubers play it and not one got the idea to leave the door open the second time i have to watch some random gameplay now to see how it ends
It's possible to escape if you leave the window/door unlocked in scenario 2, that's the good ending basically

Most of ancient history shows the spear was pretty much unbeatable with a shield with only crossbows and longbows being a challenge up until black powder and explosives were made just about everywhere except ancient China who preferred crossbows and swords only a smidge over spears statistically. They are very very versatile.

Honestly, a game that gets scary only if the player thinks its already going to be scary and tries to prepare for it is a super cool concept and I would love to see it expanded

I love seeing Lixian getting better and better at these intros. I can only imagine the work he puts in to make them, and the videos are only better for it
I like how the order of the games make it seem like a guy who took a job as a ranger, finally gets home after a long watch to take a shower and tries to go to bed.
That last game was pretty clever. It teaches you to lock everything up in the first level, and then in the second level you do it all again automatically, not knowing you're screwing yourself over later. Kind of wish Mark had done it again without locking up to see what happened.
Also, normally those jumpscares at the beginning are just cheesy, but this one actually spooked me.
The game was really good.
There's a secret ending in Go To Bed if in the second situation you don't lock anything but click "the house is secure" anyway! Anyway, I love 3 Scary Games and this was a really good one, kept me on the edge of my chair.

@@starblight22long story short, but spoiler warning for anyone else who doesn't get it:
Scene two has you play as the kidnapper, which is why in scene three you can't escape as the victim. BUT, if you go to bed in scene two with any of the options not done (like lock the door, keep the window open, etc), you basically escape.
It's a neat little twist since it's one of the first games I've seen in a while that doesn't immediately start you as the victim, but play as the kidnapper.
So nice that mark actually provides constructive criticism and doesn't just say everything is amazing. Like, he gives credit where it's due, but also gently critiques
idk why but 21:46 made me laugh so much. Just the fact that they knew the player would spam the flushing made me snicker
Mark was actually taken by surprise by that hand.. usually he has an automatic reaction to "content scream" but that sounded just like, him, getting frightened. That's rare!

I still can't believe this series has gone on for so long. I remember watching Markiplier since I was around 8, I don't quite remember how old I was when watched the first '3 Scary Games', but I do remember being so happy watching it. I can't believe I've been inactive for so long that I missed the 100th episode. Mark has done so much, scrolling through random games trying to find just the right one, and taking criticism so understandingly. Around the 70th part of 3 Scary Games, Mark had been receiving comments about his language. Nobody really even noticed, but he stopped. Mark does so much for all of us. And it's still such a shame to see that he made more money on onlyfans than he did on any charity stream. But besides my rambling, the point is just a thank you. A thank you for everything he's done for us!

100% the footsteps. I was totally prepared for a scream and a scary image, but the footsteps caught me off gaurd and actually scared me.
i didn't get fully scared but i got shivers down my spine. Still it's one of the best screamers his editing team made.

The gas station segment of the first game HAS to have been inspired by Twin Peaks. The red curtains, the Agent Cooper looking dude drinking coffee, the cashier both resembling and speaking in rhymes like the Giant, and some other design details.

The scares are actually comforting to me. I've got the timing basically down and they make me smile.
I remember washing my hair and being scared because I would imagine the monsters that could be watching me while my eyes were closed
honestly same. ever since we moved to a different town i've been more paranoid than ever. there's this small(ish) window in our bathroom and i feel like if i can't keep my eyes on the window a shady figure will appear. back in our old place, we had a room just to place junk stuff there. at night, it was dark as hell and it was next to the bathroom. i felt like if i looked away once something will crawl out of it and drown me in the bath tub.
