Girl fancies herself an anthropologist, but she's completely removed from real society.
That's Ok, she wants to be a cyborg, a post human or transhuman. Many are eager for it but not myself. She equates electronic tech as us becoming a cyborg when they is vastly different and not realistic possibility without removing what it means to be human and alive.
I don't know if anybody is really checking these comments, but I agree to a point. The thing that I disagree with is that there is an addictive part that is not being addressed. We are becoming addicted and codependent on our electronics. I don't know if that will be beneficial for the future generations. At one point when I was young I thought the computers would be. Just a great thing for the world, but I am seeing that every single choice that we make has positive and negative effects and it's going to be up to society to figure their way around them so that we are not caught up and so addicted to our electronics that a minor setback like say an electrical storm could completely screw us into the ground and back into the dark ages. That is why I feel that we still need to train people in some old school ways of doing things like our rail system like our fuel system. These things still need to be part of the knowledge pool. Otherwise, it will become a situation where if we lose our technology we will not be able to function and a lot of us will literally die from it. So I hope that this comment makes it to the right ears so that these subjects can be brought into the light
if technology stops working society will collapse no matter what and after that and when that happens we’re fucked anyway life without technology would be hellish

Our brains do associate our phones with itself / the body so that it’s an apparatus of the self. This isn’t Cyberpunk in Night City, as much as I wish it was as I’d go back in time, befriend Lucy & somehow without changing anything but the end convince her to be honest with David as I don’t think he would’ve used the cyberskeleton. He changed & lost himself the more people close to him died & the more detached Lucy became from him & he became from others. That’s when his ego began to get in the way & his recklessness. Most people alive today grew up with some sort of electronics that were new in their generation. If anything, social media has completely destroyed the younger generations social skills, work ethic, and overall outlook on life

When animals use tools, the brain considers the tool an extension of the body its housed in. A phone is definitely a "tool". Having a computer the size of our hands connected to functionally infinite information, entertainment, social networks, businesses, resources like shopping and food.... yeah. We're definitely fundamentally different than the people that spent their entire lives with just the radio or newspapers.
I Agee with the “fundamentally changing” portion but unfortunately it’s a “fundamental change to addiction” an addiction to social media and addiction to technology that’s guiding a whole generation off a mental health cliff. The sad part is the generation is willing being led and think every innovation that further takes hold of their minds is “cool”
