Showdown's ending reminds me of that classic scene in Star Trek II: The Wraith of Khan where Khan takes his ship into a gas cloud and then Kirk goes back to earth and asks where Khan is and they tell him he's in the gas cloud, so Kirk goes to Mars and finds Khan there and chases him back into the gas cloud. Classic cinema.

Interesting, the plot in Showdown is kind of similar to the history of the freetown Chirstiania in Copenhagen during the mid 80s to mid 90s. Bunch of hippies, anarchists and collectivists moved into old abandoned army baracks and declared independence in 1971. The freetown had no police authority and open cannabis trade, so naturally a biker gang moved in and decided they were now the de facto authority and controllers of the drug trade, this eventually lead to a bunch of murders and a gang war.
