For everyone saying it's a Rolex ripoff, this Grand Seiko design comes from their Seiko Navigator Timer ref. 6117-8000 released in the 60's, a few years before the first Explorer II was released (1971). besides all these bezels (Rolex included) are a copy of the Glycine Airman gmt released in the 50's
Great watch. Rolex took their Explorer II bezel design from the Glycine Airman GMT, so at this point it’s probably fair to just say it’s established GMT design language across multiple brands.
I just bought an SBGN003 used. Owner recorded timing for 3 years on this particular "average" 9F86......+/-0.0 seconds for years. Sort of amazing. Very amazing. I looked at the SBGN003 online manual and they have a "leap seconds" section....the watch is so accurate that this is in preint. Amazing watch movement. GADA watch.
Your low level lighting shots of this watch are stunning, the way you showed how glossy the dial is are the best shots of this watch I have seen.. Great video.. Subscribed..
Thanks David, I really appreciate that. It’s been a learning curve for sure, this time last year I had to ask the wife how to use an app to edit.... so some of my early video have horrible sound and pictures 😆,,,
seiko had the 6117-8000 with a GMT hand and a steel bezel with the second time zone around 68, 69, a couple of years before the Exlorer II was launched. So any inspiration for this watch can come from Seiko's own tradition...
A beautiful watch but before you buy the it give it a very thorough check, got mine home to find the 24 hour bezel not lined up with the watch face. The jeweller says it has to go back to Japan to be fixed. So much for the legendary build quality and attention to detail.
Hey, I know this is a relatively old video. But as I know you have a Hamilton Coop, i would like to ask you if the shine on the GS sbgn003 is reminiscent of that one. I'm on the fence on getting a sbgn003, and if it is anywhere close to the Hammy, then that's something that might pull me over. (The indices.)
Thanks Chris,,, I love that people such as yourself are watching from so far away!! The tattoo is connected to my Scottish family. The watch is a fantastic item,, I’m really chuffed with it
Really glad you like it. Yes it’s got some common design language with the Explorer II but if that doesn’t bother you then you’re off to a good start. I love my GS Quartz. Maybe try a SBGN013 which is a touch bigger but less sporty?
im honest here, if the rolex explorer 2 had the same case dimensions, id buy the rolex. But this thing will be my gmt watch for now. Edit: Just a little rant because of the case sizing: I have a 7,25 inch wrist and wear watches between 36-40mm. 80% of the time im wearing either my tudor prince date day 36 or my oyster perpetual 36, so i think its only perception of what looks big on you and what doesnt. 39mm is such a nice size for a sports watch, and frankly, tudor recognized this with their blackbay 58 too :D I hope to see some smaller sizes again for sports watches, 36mm explorer or 39mm explorer 2 comes to my mind :D
That is a great looking watch mate . I dont understand why some people run down the grand seiko quartz piece . After all it is not some run of the mill battery piece. I only own 1 or two quartz watches but that's not been a conscience choice , it's just the watches iv liked . Last year I was looking at the grand seiko sbgv245 grey beast . That is one stunning watch Andrew , give it a look if you have not already seen it . Great stuff as normal keep it up 👍
Thanks John,,, I’ll take a look at that grey... I really don’t think we should get so hung up on quality quartz,,, especially when they look like this!
@@watchandrew totally agree mate. Iv seen a lot of guys with prestigious collections saying technically and mechanically, the grand seiko s out performs any Rolex . So they must be pretty dam good watches
Hey Slo-Mo King: you nailed that shot eh? Well I love this one more now than I already did. I paid for this watch in March but because the AD had to get one in, i got cold feet over the weekend over the quartz and cancelled the order. Still on fence over that aspect. Is part of watch addiction having that insecurity about quartz? Don't know. Great video as always. You've tilted my needle towards this one. awesome photography of it.
Yeah the slow-mo worked out well thank goodness!! It’s a great watch and if you can get hands on with it.,, size wise will go nicely next to your bb36 ~ the uptime pick up and go watch is this... that’s a big part of liking it for me
You’ve gotta go for what your heart tells you,,, more chance of loving it and having less regrets - the CW is a great build quality and yes I’m loving it!
If I am travelling and the battery dies, I would start cold sweating, throwing foam by the mouth, having seizures and finally a stroke. What about an automatic? 😉.
@@watchandrew Yes, I take 3 watches with me when I travel 😂, my watch roll goes in the hand luggage (with the computer, documents, money). But anyway, the battery dependence makes me anxious.
@@watchandrew I think this is the fella that was bleeting on about grand seiko QC issues like misaligned bezels etc etc. He couldn't differentiate between a £200 turtle and a 3k GS. Not necessarily an informed opinion. Love it bro, great choice!

great insight, thank you
Have this watch ! Love it ! The 9F Quartz is amazing… have three Quartz, and two Spring Drive…
Gorgeous watch is this one
I love Quartz Watches. Very accurate and no cost for maintenance.

Just picked mine up , $4600 aud , what a bargain .
Love it .

Good review mate I love my SBGN003 it’s a must have GMT
It’s a fantastic watch pal,,, one of the best I’ve experienced.
@@watchandrew I have this and the Seiko SLA043J1 arriving next week👍 keep up the good work mate your content is very refreshing
Typo SLA043j1 too much wine 😂
Really appreciate that mate,,,, thank you
I told you Grand Seiko were epic. 🙌👍
You did,,, but I already knew that....😬
GSは、どれも視認性に優れていると思います。素敵なレビューを、有難う御座います。
"Nemo me impune lacessit" Scots Guard? Royal Regiment of Scotland? Beautiful watch. Saving up for one for my 50th birthday.
Great spot and correct with the wording,,, but I wasn’t in the military ~ it’s a long story 👏 it’s a great watch, you won’t regret it

Hi Andrew,
Great review!
Can't decide between this watch or Tudor GMT.
I'm looking for my 1 and done watch.
One and done watch, I’d go Tudor gmt ~ I love that watch.
Cheers Andrew.
Why not the GS GMT and a Black Bay 58 for the same price as the Tudor GMT 👀
How are you finding this watch now? Still good?

Hi!
What does it mean "49 mm true size" ?
I ask because my wrist is pretty small...
Thanks!
The lug to lug sizes,,, the bracelet sticks out further than the lugs
@@watchandrew thanks. Do you think it would fit properly a 15cm wrist ir it's too big?
i absolutely love this... what are you going to do??
just seen this,,,, I bought it haha
Steve McQueen..... Man Utd footballer from the Seventies who drove a Mustang
spot on, that's him!

I see you’re still in the honeymoon phase with your super compressor. I’m still undecided. I’m between that and the ball fireman enterprise
That dial color is super handsome on it.

God I wish they had switched the hand colors between this and the blue one.
Just found you on Instagram. Thanks for posting. Looks cool
Hi Andrew, your videos and macro shots are continuing to improve, well done that man!
thank you!! Appreciate the comment
People only hate quartz because someone told them too.
Awesome review 👍🏻 I subbed! Do you still own it ? Thanks
thank you! I don't unfortunately,, wish I did though....
Wow. I just bought mine today, probably the last one in the uk brand new from ad.
How comes you let yours go if you don’t mind me asking!?
Nice review and such a sweet watch.
Cheers Stuart,,, appreciate that and yeah, it’s an amazing watch.
What is your wrist size if I may ask?
A gentleman never tells and you shouldn’t ask such personal questions....😆6&3/4 inch
cette montre est la perfection , casse et sobriété
BEST WATCH WISDOM EVER 😂😂😂😂

Be nicer if it had a blue dial! 😉😂
Where that ‘block’ button again? 🛑 😆

The Rolex Explorer ll homage with a battery... Not that big of a fan. First time l saw it on line l though it was a Rolex.
