Thanks for the review. I have one. Gorgeous watch and the hands line up perfectly with the indices. The AR coating, shape of the crystal, and deep black dial produce exceptional visual depth. The combination of brushed and polished surfaces, and particilarly the hands and indices, create a beautiful sparkle effect. The bracelet looks great and is my preference, but the complete absence of micro adjustments is really a shameful oversight on such an otherwise well executed watch. If you’re in between on bracelet length, the half-link doesn’t cut it; you’ll be tight or loose. Adjusting the bracelet can be accomplished by removing the screw on one side only. Look for a discount if you shop reputable online ADs. All-in-all, this one is a keeper for me. Cheers!
I've had mine for about 7 months. It's hard for me to not wear it every day. It's such a good piece. The bracelet really isn't a problem like people seem to think.
My fav is any "true" GMT. :) Great follow up review. Seems like yesterday on your initial review. I agree in regards to the bracelet, GS really needs to step up in this regards. Thanks
Thanks for this video! I'm actually visiting the Grand Seiko boutique this weekend, and looking at possibly picking this up. Currently have the SBGA283 and the SBGV245, but I really love the rugged looks of the SBGN003/005's.
Nice watch man. I think the quartz GSs get overlooked. If that was an auto, people would be beside themselves comparing it to an Explorer 2. Simply a superb watch, for the price, nothing better. A shame that the New Spring Drive GMTs don't look as good!
I agree with your assessment, and love the overall dial/design/layout. For that money I do with they had a better bracelet as you mentioned, but the straps you showed looked awesome on this one.
Great review, thank you. Is it possible to set this watch with the GMT Hand on GMT time and the main hands on local time if that local time isn't different by while hours? Eg Adelaide Australia UTC/GMT +9:30
A used SBGN003 is high on my list for my next purchase. I would love to hear your opinion on it compared to the upcoming presage GMT line SPB221 Thanks
I didn't think about how far down the spring bar pins are located on the lugs. I'm not a bracelet person so I was looking to go on a strap...that would create a large "space" between strap & case. I also agree, what's up GS w/the 19mm on anything under 40?
I have the SBDX017 MM300 and I've been going back and forth about a week wondering if I should sell it to get this watch. I'm not into the thicker watches anymore.
Great looking watch Toran. The GS bracelet is brutal and needs to be addressed by them before I would ever consider buying one. Stay safe my friend. 😷🇨🇦
I have Rolex, Omega and GS on bracelets. The GS is very comfortable. The bracelet is high quality. Other than the micro adjustment (which I don't miss) great bracelet.
I have this particular watch in this review and a GS heritage automatic and Seiko Prospex alpinist , what I can't grasp is the emphasis and admiration put on the so called amazing Zaratsu polishing, to my eye it looks no better than the polishing on my Alpinist and many other well finished watches , there I have said it .
Great review and love that watch but confused by :3.35 "I'm not interested in keeping track of more than one timezone".. ummm isn't that kinda the whole point?
Thanks for the feedback. You can use the GMT hand as a AM/PM indicator if it's set to your local time👍. I would be interested in keeping track of another time zone once traveling opens back up.
Great review! So close to putting money on one. To the poster above, keep in mind that the blue dial sbgn005 does NOT have a colour matched date window. This might be important to you.
You only would need 2 if both pin ends have a slot for a flathead screwdriver. I've only ever encountered one watch with this bracelet style (a Zodiac) and they make a tool that's essentially a small square with several screw driver ends sticking up from it and that holds one screw end while you use a hand screwdriver for the other side.
Valid point - there is a ton of tech in there for quartz and the accuracy is second to none. But yeah, if it were 1k cheaper it would be a game changer.
I was watch snobby before I bought mine. It is now my favourite watch and my daily on a black strap. I am down from 20 or so watches to 8 and I am now actually contemplating selling everything and just having this one watch. The movement is a joy, always perfect time, hitting those markers perfectly every time, it is a joy to behold. After the Rolexes and Omegas are gone, this will be the last one standing. Incredible watch.
Well, there’s quartz and then there’s QUARTZ. The 9F 86 movement is an incredible piece of technology, easily on par with the best mechanical movements. Let me put it this way - saying a 9F is “just a quartz watch” is akin to calling a Tesla Model S Plaid “just a car.” I think if you do some research on the 9F movement you may change your mind.

How much you get it for
The bracelet if fine, I don't get all this criticism this bracelet gets. It wears lovely on the wrist.
So many of us have written off Seiko because of lack of QC but not GS. Good review, thanks from sunny Texas!
I was in the market for a Tudor Ranger. I am no longer going to buy that I now want this amazing GMT.
Did you buy it?

Good luck at the AD this weekend 👍
these reviews have been great. thank you. just ordered an sbgn003!
Awesome. Thanks for the quick response!

People already compare it to the Explorer II . . . which is still unfair. They are very different watches. Rolex doesn't own dive or GMT bezels.
Hold on to it, future classic for sure!

Man.. so tempting especially for that price! Nice video!

How much for this one. Is there same model available without GMT.
@@Siju2235 retail is $3900 CAD
Great video! Weird question- can you hear it tick when it’s on your wrist?
Thanks for the feedback. I never noticed any ticking sounds from this watch on the wrist. Kind regards
Lovely. One of these would go nicely with my Explorer II ... I love a great, accurate quartz.
Thanks for the feedback 👍

Excellet review! Yeah GS can definitly work on making better bracelets...question does the seconds hand still hit all of the markers?
Thanks for the feedback. The seconds hand does hit all the markers dead on 👍
Mine do too.
Thinking about getting the SBGN023…..tempted
only thing I need on that is a 20mm bracelet tapering to 16. mine is great.

Alpinist is a great watch and an amazing value

Why would you need a GMT if your not tracking other time zones? Would the new 9 F movement without the GMT be better for your purposes.
I don't really travel much, but I do have clients who work in different time zones, so the GMT does help me in that regard 👍
No micro adjustment sucks big balls. Beautiful timepiece yes
Does the bracelet pull hair?
Nope, it's great
Who is your favorite GS AD?
What is the black band with orange @7:48 ?
Strap is a Barton silicon band. Cheers
@@EverydayWatchGuy thanks!
Nice watch! 💥
It doesn't scratch up for you! Many complaints about that...
No major scratches after over a year...
how do you choose sbgn003 instead of sbgn005?
I think it comes down to personal preference. I just like that the black dial has a classic presence about it. Cheers
Great review! So close to putting money on one. To the poster above, keep in mind that the blue dial sbgn005 does NOT have a colour matched date window. This might be important to you.
Why would you need two screw drivers to size the bracelet? I certainly didn't.
Cool, what did you use to size the bracelet? I assumed because they use slot screws, a set of small screwdrivers would work best.
@@EverydayWatchGuy I used an overpriced Bergeon 1.2 mm screw driver.
I was just surprized that the video read that you'd need two.

3 year battery sucks
To get a 3 year battery life with this much functionality and the size / weight of the hands is a technical marvel
if it's a Grand Seiko, I'd rather have the spring drive. 4 grand for a quartz watch? thanks but no thanks.
Valid point - there is a ton of tech in there for quartz and the accuracy is second to none. But yeah, if it were 1k cheaper it would be a game changer.
@@ride-paddle-repeat I think this can be had for about $3kish on gray market brand new if im not mistaken. I consider this to be a $2-$3k watch

Technically a great watch but i just hate the look. I much prefer the Tudor BB GMT.
Fair enough. Tudor BB GMT is another great option 👍
