Boxing and WRESTLING. Learn those 2. Don't take it from me take it from all the fighters and combat athletes. You don't go to the ground on purpose but sometimes you end up there. He is wrong and right at the same time.
100% correct. I’m no street fighter veteran but common sense tells me boxing would be most effective but that you should have some background on ground fighting/defense in case you DO end up there. Always is curious to me how some people are so extreme-either you train to roll on the ground or you can NEVER go to the ground. It’s both. Fights are unpredictable.
Interesting because theres a short going around with Michael Jai White saying basically the same thing. Ive only ever trained boxing but anytime ive lost street fights was when i went to the ground.
Yeah he’s wrong here. Even if you’re a good boxer you might get caught by a punch in a street fight. If you’re a good grappler against someone who isn’t you’re almost guaranteed to be able to control them on the ground. That being said if the person has friends then tying them up on the ground is a bad idea. Best option is to not get in fights, but also being competent at striking and grappling.
@HerculesLoyd people still struggle to grasp how much control a wrestler has over the fight. What do you call an amazing wrestler who can't box but dropped one of the best strikers in the world...... you call them khabib. The threat of being taken to the ground was so fearce connor never saw the punch coming.
@HerculesLoyd any good boxer can get caught by a random punch and any good wrestling can get choked out , limbs broken. The control goes both ways for both styles. I fought in many street fights before I started boxing. After I trained the results were so drastically different that I couldn't even picture what would of happened if I didn't. I'd probably be dead. Also this was 25 years who before mma took over the mainstream. Both thos guys i mentioned are in my age bracket or slightly older. That makes a difference. @@FirstLast-vl1uy I hear you, but against an untrained opponent, which a street fight will likely be, someone is far more likely to land a lucky punch on you than have any success at all grappling. Main point is that training grappling is actually very useful for street fights.
BJJ in a self defence instance is for getting from the ground to the feet if you get slammed. Wrestling is good but if you get punched with a guy on top of you there is not much you can’t do meaning you will die.
Now he's definitely correct about both boxing and staying on your feet but here's the thing. Needing to stay standing is an extremely good reason to learn wrestling not bjj but wrestling. Because if someone tries to take you down as w wrestler you can easily stop them. Plus the body control that you learn will allow you to throw them off and get hack up quickly. If you do end up on the ground for whatever reason, bottom line barring fire*rms. A good mix of boxing and either greeco or freestyle is the best for a streetfight.
Best course of action is avoiding conflict period. Peacefully trying to resolve conflict. But always be scanning the area for the most blunt objects. Fair ones are overrated. Only fight to protect your life and your loved ones. It’s always for keeps.
The point of BJJ is to get to your feet if you are on the ground being held by a bigger person 🥱🥱 I’m tired of people thinking BJJ practitioners will go to the ground to do a wrist lock, it is a fantasy world made to make the sport look bad.
We don't train BJJ to go to the ground in a fight necessarily but rather in case we get thrown to the ground we can gain composure and scramble back up to our feet😊
Here is a Definitive answer for the Brazilian Jiu jitsu side of the argument coming from an MMA and self defence nerd: BJJ is for LIFE THREATINING situations where if you are being held by someone who is much stronger than you, no it isn’t flashy kickboxing to make you look cool. it is for when your being held maybe by your jacket (hence the Gi) standing up or on the ground you need to escape so you can get on your feet and run, kickboxing or ANY martial art won’t do diddly squat for you if your laying on the ground getting punched down by a heavier guy.
Street fight you need to learn Distance control Timing Precision And head movement cause streets fights is always hooks, crosses and overhands. Never go on the ground cause I nearly got stabbed 4 times and got jumped 5+ times trying to take someone down.
Man ima x pro boxer nooo bjj if its a one one dnt waist urtime hitting if ur good at grappling its over but u need to know how to box hes. Right to a point
If you grapple and someone pulls out a knife while youre laying on him you are going get stabbed 100%. If youre boxing and you knock him out guess what sleeping people cant pull out knives anymore or use them. Most street fights will include either a weapon or multiple people. One on one street fights are super rare in fact almost never happen. So you are way off. I would say muay thai is the best form of combat for the street as it utilizes elbows and knees as well as using the clinch and tripping your opponents.
Yeah what this guy is not telling you is that if someone grabs (which 80% of the time) and all you know is boxing you're fucked. So it's better to master all of the different arts so you can be a well-rounded fighter💯.
@@christianc.7140 yes but most of them do start w trash talk or some sort of dispute Def not a dude randomly grabbing you without no dispute 80% of the time 😂

Na kicks r insane in street fights js depends on the area of the fight.

We’re not saying that we should look for fights, were saying what you need to train when you have no choice and peace is not an option
This is why Alex Pereira is dominating you need to have striking and wrestling but every fight starts standing up

knees and front kicks to the legs i think are useful though in street fights
Most street fights end up on the ground cause guys really dont wanna get hit no matter what people say
I wouldnt say bjj is useless but he is right
A master will take the fight to where he has the advantage.
“But but mma is better then boxing”
UFC drunks 🤡
Y'all should check it and decide for yourself and best case scenario be while rounded
Naw wrestling is worth it. Just because of how strong it makes you
I box really well, but can't wrestle and too old to start. So this makes me feel a little better that I can do ok to box.
I’ve known plenty of dudes who start bjj in middle age and get pretty good, and it’s worth it becoming a competent grappler.
