The trailer is not made with AI,, it's clearly just a deliberate and well crafted video purposefully emulating all of the features we see in ai generated videos, by a company known to use generative ai /sarcastic
imagine being so artistically bankrupt that it seems inconceivable that a human being came up with your designs. I'd just have to walk away at that point that's embarrassing 🙈
"There was no form of generative AI used in the trailer" not true. they actually used AI for the style and textures. you can see how low quality the animation is too. also the woman in the end of the trailer has 6 fingers
10:50 this entire section of text screams ai, any time you see multiple adjectives separated by and then it's probably ai if it's done in quick succession repeatedly with no purpose to it. AI really likes adjectives and rambling on. (example of what i mean: Cauliflower is an amazing and nutritious vegetable, with numerous health benefits to keep your energy levels high and your body moving! (random emoji))
i disagree, just because something is over the top and exaggerated, doesnt mean its ai generated. dont slander somebody just for having a weird writing style without evidence beyond 'vibes'. that entire paragraph passes every 'ai writing detector' test with 0% detection, so it is fairly likely to be written by a human. is it a weird paragraph? sure. but it is human nonetheless.
@@WoolyCowall of the text around the game is like that though, ESPECIALLY the steam description. It just seems weird that it’s happened so many times, especially with everything else.
@@WoolyCow I get what you’re saying, but when you see AI writing enough you start to detect it. It’s not a slight against people who write like that. It’s not “vibes” it’s called pattern recognition. I have ASD and even I can detect that ChatGPT bs a mile out.
@@gullybonesart4670 okay look. is it not possible that the person just writes like that? if EVERYTHING is written in the same tone, that might just be the tone they speak? wouldnt it instead would be suspicious if only one part was in a distinctly different tone? im willing to bet in a month time everyone in this comment section is going to regret their stance on this game. i personally couldnt care (not really into gaming tbh), but i think it is reasonably likely that all of this is a little bit of a kneejerk reaction to the broader state of game dev. im not going to speak on behalf of a game that isnt released yet, but since the trailer isnt ai generated and the text isnt ai generated...maybe...just maybe, the game wont be either? if its slop, well im wrong. but apart from being a new studio who writes weirdly, and has weird history, i think we are jumping to conclusions a little fast. the worlds a better place when we give people a fair shot and dont rush to judgement on 'vibes' alone and hatred for two vowels that go next to each other sometimes. hopefully the game is real and not just some garbage shovelware, for their sake, and everybody elses.
@@WoolyCow ai writing detectors are also famously inaccurate though - there’s been plenty of evidence that it doesn’t work very well, they’re not saying that something over exaggerated is ai generated, they’re saying that a sentence that uses a lot of adjectives but isn’t saying anything concrete is likely ai generated as most humans have intent behind their words - ai doesn’t
There is a zero % chance the trailer wasn't generated. I don't know what industry experts you're referring to, but they are full of shit. I can even tell you exactly how it was done. They generated a number of short clips using simple prompts like "black sphinx cat swipes at the camera" and then stitched them together and potentially went over it with some editing tools to hide the most egregious tells. This is why it's full of short incongruent segments with simple or nonexistent movement and fever dream like inconsistent backgrounds. The only way i would believe it's not generated is if we see progress renders, assets, fuck even just storyboards from before the trailer got published would at least be something. But right now? Absolutely no way that uncanny fever dream pastel vomit was 3d animated by real people. No fucking way.
I do 3d art and I 100% understand where the experts are coming from. The models in the trailer do appear to be 3d models and they are experts in their field for a reason, they can accurately see what process was used to create the lighting and fur on those cats and it's too consistent to be a.i, the fur on the models stay how they were placed on the 3d model consistently throughout each time you see them, an A.I would brush the furs different ways or regenerate them mildly differently. The trailer definitely looks a.i to the untrained eye but I find it how interesting how much of it takes place inside a very real CGI software.
I mean... It basically is. Even the name and entire way of presentation of the concept feels AI. Ship of theseus, except theseus never had a claim over the ship except like 2 nails.
Honestly the thing that baffles me the most in this whole deal is not even the AI stuff, it's the fact that they were allowed to air the trailer in *THE FUCKING GAME AWARDS* and nobody batted an eye. Like, did these guys really believe we're that stupid? Did they pay so much that no one at TGA care about the bad press? I really want to know the thought process behind this thing. Honestly i'm half expecting for this thing to actually be a weird ARG about AI and the death of creativity or something
TGA has been morally bankrupt for years already. Just look at the gear TLOU2 has a sweep of awards even though every category it won had something objectively better than it
usually, when companies try to lie to consumers, they speak roundaboutly, spin half-truths, use non-words, etc, but they're just spewing bold-faced lies, that takes some balls. even the written stuff from them sounds AI-generated AF (look at how the company's bio talks about Catly as if it was out already, for example), to the point it's cringe-worthy. I don't know what the end goal at this point is, but the fact they're still trying this hard paints a pretty bad picture, and I hope the online community as a whole doesn't simply drop this story, I'm quite intrigued now
I call bs on the trailer not being AI. Like if the creator is lying about everything else and has used a good amount of AI in the rest of the project. The fact that catley team barley any previous record of 3d animated games, 3d modeling etc Is indication enough. Like either it's AI or they got a bunch of artists on fiver for a scam product.
They probably wanted at least some plausible deniability and spend most of the project budget to produce that trailer. It indeed is 3D and not AI. Look is very similar than other slop they had on their website so people reasonably assumed trailer to be AI as well. I work with 3D animations myself and keep close eye on video AI tools. Current tools can't yet produce this kind of results.
@@NzeRekoRec Yeah the AI 'animation' I have seen is usually a mostly still frame where camera tilts it slightly lol, but I don't know enough about AI. Then I guess they used an AI video as a template, then got 3d artists to fix it up. Since they used AI in the real game/website, more people would notice if the trailer had a completely different style.
This is like mc donalds building a new store, and while the store is in construction the store manager saying "we have never made any burgers". We all know what a mc donalds store does. Just as we all know what a crypto/nft/ai scammer does.
Okay, I was kinda holding out hope that maybe we were too harsh and they genuinely were idiots that didn't know what they were doing. Now I'm 100% convinced that it's a grift (and that's probably the idea, get the people smart enough not to fall for it out of the way so by the time the launch comes, there'll only be willing victims left) If this game comes out with credited artists, no AI/crypto/NFTs, and at least a 4/10 on Metacritic, I will eat my words and donate a thousand dollars to a charity of SuperAuthenti's choosing.
The "in-progress shots interspersed with the final product" reminds me of a music video I saw where they modelled all of the scenes in blender and then fed the scene through AI to render it. Which is probably exactly what they did. It looked terrible then and it's terrible now
Apparently, some artists do make use of AI _tools_ that are simply just small tools that help make certain effects a little easier to do, but yeah, using _AI_ as a replacement for an _artist_ is pretty gross.
Even if there wasn't a single generated element in the game, the fact that they can't give a cohesive description of the gameplay or what it's about makes me not want to play it *way* more than me knowing it will be a game I won't like.
This feels like another attempt to normalize AI slop by trying to hide that it's slop until it's too late for people to backtrack their opinions on it for being slop. The fact they got called out _immediately_ is just another reassurance that the community at large _refuses_ to accept their anti-creative slopfest.
There is literally no anatomy study to that lavender abomination. If it's on its hind legs then it just stomped all over a beehive with feet that thick compared to the front paws holding the shawl of some kind, but even then the cat has like no stomach to speak of either.
As someone who uses AI I found another point. The clip at 40 seconds in the trailer you can see the grass change every time, this is likely because they made the 3 images of the girl and then put her on the same grass background each time and decided to inpaint the whole image to blend her into it because they are simply that lazy.
Dude, why are we even here? The studio was proven to lie, and only has suspected AI-generated images to show. The fact this is a talking point is either because we are filming idiocracy 2 in real-life or because this is the first liar in gaming using AI.
when the catly trailer started during tga i genuinely spent the first like ten seconds thinking it was going to be an ad for fabric softener or something
ill be real, actually hearing the description of catly makes it sound really boring. its like nintendogs but an mmo?? i dont really see how a pet simulator would work as a big multiplayer experience of that scale. and like, skins?? i thought the trailer was trying to show off character customization, but if this game even IS real i feel like its gonna be chock full of macrotransactions. (pay fot avatar clothes, pay for new cat breeds, pay for cool cat colors, pay for coot cat eyes, etc...
Are expectations were low, but holy Caesar, did they go lower. Also, Cat mmos are out there. There's one person working on a Warrior Cats inspired type game
i think its clear that AI has successfully eroded our trust in marketing, which already had such low trust and operated entirely on impressions. i'm pretty familiar with AI gen video models and i was still a bit too sure it was AI, because i have seen more subtle uses of generated video that that i had to scrutinize closer. it remains that the next most tragic thing to happen after humans losing their market, will be when it becomes too difficult to tell even for the most experienced. because that will be when it becomes too hard to care.
while it may be on steam rn, im sure as hell they are really looking into it, they have made consumer first decisions before, and they seem to be growing that pattern. with all the buzz around it.... theres no way steams not gunna look into it and then make an update to the TOS for devs to follow

If its not AI we may have found the poor artist who first got his art style ripped off by AI.
Even if it wasnt ai, theres no game to be excited about
we saw cats running around for a bit, i can make that in about 5 minutes
if this was a pre established franchise and we knew about how the game worked, this would be more excusable (not completely)
but all we know is the vague concept of it being a cat game
Crazy idea: What if the trailer was made with AI, and just edited in post production to remove artifacting and inconsistencies.
Since people have pointed out that the humans in the trailers have inconsistencies with the fingers (with some having 4-6 fingers on one hand but not the same amount on the other).
ooohh ykw that makes a lot of sense
it wouldn't be too difficult tbh, if Coca Cola is any evidence. They did something half-similar with their Christmas ad. Anytime the brand was on screen it's totally legible.
Yeah no
Being someone who frequently sees what ai is currently up to
This is miles better than any cherry picked example from either sora klind luma labs and pika
@@thewiseoldfoxit also would make sense when you consider the “developer” also had to pay The Game Award for the project to be shown, as well as both Pokimane and Ninja to advertise the game.
It’s fair to reason that they could’ve hired an individual to edit the video.
The trailer is not made with AI,, it's clearly just a deliberate and well crafted video purposefully emulating all of the features we see in ai generated videos, by a company known to use generative ai /sarcastic
catly sounds like cat food made by ksi logan paul and mrbeast 😭😭😭😭🙏🙏
Barfly
imagine being so artistically bankrupt that it seems inconceivable that a human being came up with your designs. I'd just have to walk away at that point that's embarrassing 🙈
"There was no form of generative AI used in the trailer"
not true. they actually used AI for the style and textures. you can see how low quality the animation is too. also the woman in the end of the trailer has 6 fingers
It's likely a generic mobile game with an overblown trailer. Match 3 or merge junk. It's the only reason I can think of it being on Apple watch.
It looks like something I'd cook up if I wanted to scam people into donating for the development of a game that don't exist.
catly ai situation is insane
this is the greatest ai cat game of all time
Not these type of titles again -_-
@@thewiseoldfox Mad? I’m just annoyed it’s so prevalent of a title. I don’t understand why or how you’d think I’m seething with rage or smth.
@@thewiseoldfox I’m genuinely confused what you’re doing
@@Godyeater i worked for catly ai, hes a fraud
Plot twist…the creator is an ai
I mean...
It basically is. Even the name and entire way of presentation of the concept feels AI.
Ship of theseus, except theseus never had a claim over the ship except like 2 nails.
Ever heard of the ai crypto creator? People gave it millions of dollars, look it online it’s true and kinda crazy.
what if it was some ai that escaped and somehow made its way to the game awards with a game
Why does the black cat have orange dreadlocks though
Hearing that this wasn’t ai makes me want to meet the artist and watch the trailer and point at things and go “what is this” “what is that”
No shot, this trailer is Ai and it's not a real game. Look at the companies past. Scam scam scam.
Wait wait wait
Their company name is "SuperAuthenti"
As if they're desperately yelling "Hey, we're Super Authentic we swear!" 😆
Not a single ounce of effort was put in the entire project, but especially the names for both the game's and the company name, it's almost impressive
>its not happening
>its not that bad
>its a good thing
Even if this wasn't AI, it would be better if it was AI because I don't want to believe a human would design such ugly designs
Just look at the gear TLOU2 has a sweep of awards even though every category it won had something objectively better than it
ironic that it's called Catly lol
what's next, prabbit? barkables? do the cats like their treats drippy bruh?
usually, when companies try to lie to consumers, they speak roundaboutly, spin half-truths, use non-words, etc, but they're just spewing bold-faced lies, that takes some balls. even the written stuff from them sounds AI-generated AF (look at how the company's bio talks about Catly as if it was out already, for example), to the point it's cringe-worthy. I don't know what the end goal at this point is, but the fact they're still trying this hard paints a pretty bad picture, and I hope the online community as a whole doesn't simply drop this story, I'm quite intrigued now
Bullshit, just look at their steam description, it's just AI prompt lmao 😂
"Scammer claims scam is not a scam"
I thought Felicia Day taking a bag to promote it on Twitter was disappointing, but Ben Brode really ought to know better and have higher standards.
Even the name just sounds so generic... cat-ly 😭 like reminds me of lunch-ly
Now I'm 100% convinced that it's a grift (and that's probably the idea, get the people smart enough not to fall for it out of the way so by the time the launch comes, there'll only be willing victims left)
If this game comes out with credited artists, no AI/crypto/NFTs, and at least a 4/10 on Metacritic, I will eat my words and donate a thousand dollars to a charity of SuperAuthenti's choosing.
i was just watching a vid of yours abt catly and i didnt expect you to upload another update when i finished watching it
ten bucks in monopoly money says this “game” is never gonna release
The "in-progress shots interspersed with the final product" reminds me of a music video I saw where they modelled all of the scenes in blender and then fed the scene through AI to render it. Which is probably exactly what they did. It looked terrible then and it's terrible now
even the steam description looks like it was written by chatgpt
As an artist, AI causes me to get so mad due to how scummy and disgusting it is.
This is totally gaslighting
He specifically said generative ai. I bet he’s claiming assisted ai, which is still slop.
This feels like another attempt to normalize AI slop by trying to hide that it's slop until it's too late for people to backtrack their opinions on it for being slop. The fact they got called out _immediately_ is just another reassurance that the community at large _refuses_ to accept their anti-creative slopfest.
"Response written by ChatGPT" would be hilarious, just saying
"Serial killer says he did not kill anybody"
Company investigates it self and find no wrong doing.
If it was a steam only game, it would've been debatable. But come on, it's impossible releasing what this game is said to be on an apple watch
How are you even gonna see the game’s shit on a screen smaller than the Gameboy?
There is literally no anatomy study to that lavender abomination. If it's on its hind legs then it just stomped all over a beehive with feet that thick compared to the front paws holding the shawl of some kind, but even then the cat has like no stomach to speak of either.
its schrodinger's scam, it is and its isnt a scam untill they deliver something and ask for money, like the day before
Right. And EA never puts micro-transactions in most of their games.
This is like a kid saying they didn't eat all the chocolate ice cream when there's chocolate all over their face.
In that case, what about showing us concept art of story boarding of the trailer. I bet they don't have any of this shit
The company is called Superauthenti, really!? Cmon no way it’s actually real they are full of shit
As someone who uses AI I found another point. The clip at 40 seconds in the trailer you can see the grass change every time, this is likely because they made the 3 images of the girl and then put her on the same grass background each time and decided to inpaint the whole image to blend her into it because they are simply that lazy.
If you want a digital pet, get a Tomogatchi, or get copies of the 90s Petz games (before they went to shit). Catly is a trap.
Dude, why are we even here?
The studio was proven to lie, and only has suspected AI-generated images to show.
The fact this is a talking point is either because we are filming idiocracy 2 in real-life or because this is the first liar in gaming using AI.
This is a scam. Two developers from china who have already lied. Lets be real here
I guess it can't contain those when theres no game in the first place.
when the catly trailer started during tga i genuinely spent the first like ten seconds thinking it was going to be an ad for fabric softener or something
ill be real, actually hearing the description of catly makes it sound really boring. its like nintendogs but an mmo?? i dont really see how a pet simulator would work as a big multiplayer experience of that scale. and like, skins?? i thought the trailer was trying to show off character customization, but if this game even IS real i feel like its gonna be chock full of macrotransactions. (pay fot avatar clothes, pay for new cat breeds, pay for cool cat colors, pay for coot cat eyes, etc...
I wish someone trustworthy would make a cat mmo
They saw that Playstation had No Games and believed that Third Party Companies can do that too
Well, they're lying, because no human would draw fur like that.
I just want to know how the ad ended up on the game awards.. like wtf
Bribery just like how most games win awards there
So what? Saying apple watch can run it was a glitch?
i never thought it was ai, ive dicked around with ai enough to tell
my problem is it looks boring
The worst part about this is that if a game looks ai but it’s not that’s really bad for everyone because of how it’s bad for the developers 😅
Well, of course the game has no AI. There is no game.
Are expectations were low, but holy Caesar, did they go lower. Also, Cat mmos are out there. There's one person working on a Warrior Cats inspired type game
i think its clear that AI has successfully eroded our trust in marketing, which already had such low trust and operated entirely on impressions. i'm pretty familiar with AI gen video models and i was still a bit too sure it was AI, because i have seen more subtle uses of generated video that that i had to scrutinize closer. it remains that the next most tragic thing to happen after humans losing their market, will be when it becomes too difficult to tell even for the most experienced. because that will be when it becomes too hard to care.
while it may be on steam rn, im sure as hell they are really looking into it, they have made consumer first decisions before, and they seem to be growing that pattern. with all the buzz around it.... theres no way steams not gunna look into it and then make an update to the TOS for devs to follow
thats if it is some ai slop, nft scam or somnthing... if its just a shit game like "the day before" then well it might just flop
@@gnhatch The Day Before was a scam, they only bothered releasing anything to attempt to legitimize themselves when they realized they likely weren't going to get away with it
Yeah we just happen to commission a cg artist to make 20 variations of "photorealistic cat wearing violet gucci dress and sunglasses, portrait, hi-res, cgsociety, artstation, trending, 4k quality"
"hmm we investigated ourselves and found nothing wrong"
superauthenti should make a cooking game
they could call it lunch-ly or something
oh wait
thank god nobody on the internet is allowed to lie ever.
Ah, so they're jumping to the "blatant lying" response, bold move lets see if it works out for them
They can't... if they tried do damage control and claimed this part used AI but not this they could have at least confused the situation. But denying AI at all makes it clear just how full of bull they are.
