Hey - I was thinking.. hang on… but then I realised of course… originally for the orchestra. L’Ascension - one of my all time favourites. I first came to love it on the organ - and now I love the orchestral version too. Thank you

Incredible! I always wondered how this movement would sound on an organ!

I love Messiaen but for most people he takes some getting use to. This is a magnificent performance. You play with a maturity that is hard to find.

Doesn't sound like the title...it's not part of Ascension

Well, it is! This was the original 3rd movement of Messiaens first version of L'Ascension, which he scored for full orchestra! Most people don't know, that the organ version was actually just a transcription of these orchestra pieces he did shortly afterwards. But the 3rd movement he composed completely new, since he thought that this very orchestral price wouldn't translate nicely on the organs of his time, which became the famous Transports de joie for organ.
