I remember when Tunes were square in shape and had an indention in the centre. They also did another advert on the London Unground where people had elephant trunks instead of noses. I remember that the carriage featured those old-style dangly handgrips suspended from the ceiling of the train. Funny the useless things I remember!
It's worrying that I actually remember the Flash bath cleaner one! What a hideous green bath! The Ovaltine ad was very nostalgic and I liked it. I guess he loved his warming cup of Ovaltine after walking along that rainy street!
Breaks could date between December 1982 and January 1983. 'Tron' was released UK-wide in December, whilst some sources date the Instrumental Magic compilations as coming out in 83. Granadaland, of course.
Read the same, but have found evidence against it being the nationwide date and probably only being relevant to London and selected areas - newspaper cinema listings, and a TVS ad break from Boxing Day with the TV spot, suggest the majority of the UK didn't get it till December. In addition, two Laurel and Hardy films ('Way Out West' and 'Our Relations') were shown (in most regions) on the 28th December and 3rd January, respectively.
The L & H silent shorts were being shown on ITV at the time, curiously derived from Canadian TV.The films themselves were funny, but the piano accompaniment (from Horace Lapp) was pretty awful, and these versions themselves now are pretty rare, thankfully perhaps!
The end of that Ringos ad implies that they give you chronic flatulence. And it's pretty obvious that the person who thought of that Kitekat slogan was told he couldn't use the word 'pussy' in there.

Christ! That ovaltine advert was around for years, even though by 1982, it was knocking on for 7 years old!! Thanks for the memories Tele Viewer!
I was 2 and have no memory of these apart from Tunes
Loved the ovaltine ad, so nostalgic
That Sanatogen music has been in my head for nearly 40 years.
Bill Treacher as a butcher there, just three years before he became Arthur Fowler on EastEnders.
Jonathan Bridge Yep, he sneaks in there. God knows how many other Eastenders greats were lurking around in adverts at the time!
These versions were apparently from 1969 via the CBC,with Lapp on the piano.

NedoflandersArchives Oh, Google told me that Tron came out in October 82?

Jonathan Bridge Yes, I noticed some Canadian Films or some such nonsense in the credits for the L&H shorts!
01:43 - Phil Daniels as a wolf!

Very multicultural :-)
Most likely from Granada because the end of the first advert said Manchester
Edit: okay this definitely Granada because of 6:53
6:59 TRON!
