Marek has an extraordinary ability to transform simple note combinations into original, artistic musical forms. The same skill, without artificially resorting to dissonance and chromaticism, can be seen in his "Vox Sonitus" for baroque lute with chamber ensemble, which I performed for the first time in 2018. The fantastic "Chaconne" from 2012 for a baroque lute & string quartet has a legible, traditional form although the language of the composition is much more complex. The ability to dress the old with new clothes is commendable in Marek's music, although he is fundamentally a modern composer who loves all present day musical languages. I am constantly impressed with his works and I hope that this is not the end of our mutual inspirations.
Dear Jerzy, it's been long journey since you convinced me to start to write for lute. I'm extremely grateful to you for that. This session was a great adventure for us by all means: logistically, musically, physically... But we've made it! I would like to thank you very much for your incredible inspiration, knowledge and faith in me as a composer over those long years. I think now we should show the world your original restoreded S.L.Weiss.... and very much continue our very musically unique cooperation! dzięki Jurek! :))
Dear Jerzy, what do you mean by "without artificially resorting to dissonance and chromaticism"? Composers who use dissonance do so, surely, because it is meaningful to them at the moment?
@@RobMacKillop1 You know, some composers can use various compositional means and techniques with moderation and achieve significant musical expression. Others do not spare chromaticism, frequent changes of meter, violent dynamic gestures, etc., and their compositions pass unremembered. I am not a great fan of minimalism, but some artists manage to achieve great artistic expression with minimal technical means, a spectacular example of which could be Arvo Pärt. I think Marek's music written in this style resemble Pärt's and I appreciate him very much for that. On the other hand, I know some Renaissance or Baroque compositions that are dear to us, as you know, but despite the fact that they have "chromatic" in the name and many sharps or flats inside, somehow they fail to rise excitement. But I’ll not list them now, let everyone judge.
This SUSURRUS takes us to a place without time or memory, in that absolute or absurd light, where names, faces and landscapes mix. A place that carries the soft whisper (SUSURRUS) of the wind.
Mario, it seems like SUSURRUS can be very much soundtrack to some documentary. I love your very vivid, even tangible description of your music. Thanks very much!!!
To wręcz mistyczny szept. Pozdrawiam i słucham kolejny i kolejny raz.
Bardzo dziękuję za piękne słowa. Naprawdę bardzo doceniam. To smutny, nostalgiczny ale pełen pasji i wewnętrznych, sprzecznych emocji utwór. Balans pomiędzy lutnią, a gitarą był niezwykle trudny i delikatny do napisania. Dzięki raz jeszcze!!!
This is an absolutely beautiful and incredible composition. As a lute player, composer, and guitarist, this has given me an insane amount of inspiration. You continue to be a driving force in the world of music and continue to be my biggest influence! There are not enough words in either the English or Polish language to tell you how incredible this piece is. Dziękuję za wszystko co robisz.
Wow 🙏 you've made my Day, Andrew!!! Thank you so much. I truly appreciate your kind words. This piece is not flashy nor commercial. Pure music which came to me during covid times, I'm glad I managed to catch it and convert into musical notes. Thank you for your support 🙏🙏🙏
Dear Sophie, thank you for listening and thanks for your kind words about the Susurrus I. It's very peaceful, slow, contemplating music, very much not what you would expect on RUclips. Yet, I'm truly glad some people like yourself, appreciate it. Thank you once again! Greetings!
Beautiful combination of instruments that have evolved over time. As maestro Pasieczny continues to evolve. Another wonderful performance and production.
as always, thank you John! It's in a way 'pm' s secret story' the piece which is in a group of those very different compositions of mine, which came along and I managed to catch it and write it down.... Warm greetings, John! 🙏🙂
My favorite version of this piece thus far, Marek. Very colorful. You make the lute and guitar sound splendid together. I wish there were more original pieces featuring this instrumental combination. Cheers!
Armando, I also wish there could be more pieces (original or transcribed / adopted) for this very unusual duo. There is so much potential, so much in common and so much to develop from those two string instruments historically 200 years or so apart from each other.... I'm glad you like this version the most! Thanks and warm greetings!
Congratulations Marek. Such a spacious and spiritual composition, at least to my ears. I like when the theme of the first movement comes back in the last one. You've both done a wonderful job of performing it. It's also interesting to see the lute playing modern music. I think it fits quite well. Well done to both of you! 👏👏👏
Thank you for noticing it. Yes, the main theme from 1st mvnt appears in the last one at the beginning (dispite different key of the 3rd mvnt appears in original key). Thank you for listening and your kind words, Stelios! Warm regards to the fellow composer!!!! 🙂🙏
Beautiful recording and video production! I already know this beautiful and introspective composition in it's 2 guitars version, while I don't know which one is the original, but again I'm amazed by how the mix of your creative mind and mastery of musical writing is beyond our beautiful instrument, Bravo! 💪
hey Blaise, this was the very first version of that composition. Before any other versions. Thanks very much for your careful listening over those few months. I truly appreciate it! Thank you!
That is amazing, not so obvious, how, by adding another instrument, the character of the piece changes. The composition is brilliant but also the performance. Very clear and Jerzy Żak did a lot of work with the colors adding something new to the previous two guitars version. Marek, as usual 😀 top class.
Tomek, big thank you for your beautiful words. Jerzy was fantastic through all of the process. Lute colours and the sound is juts one of a kind. This version was the very first one, I've done and recorded duo guitar version five weeks later after this session. As a matter of fact, this (lute part) was the very ground for version: for two guitars and later on for the version for harp with guitar. Dzięki Tomek. Myśmy dopiero co w tej sali grali! 🙂
Dear Marek, Among your compositions, my favorite is SUSURRUS (tied with "FOR PAT"). I have re-listened to the version made with Marek NOSAL many times and I like it even more each time. This composition still takes my breath away! Regarding this new video, I would like to make just one small comment (I really hope you won't be angry about it): with the appearance of the lute, I expected a more serious difference in terms of characteristics. But of course, this does not detract from the excellence of the production. Congratulations to all!
Dear Laszlo, thank you for your kind words as well as your point of view. This piece was composed as pure music regardless of orchestration. From the very beginning it was polyphonic approach to the compositional material, voice alike if he wish. This happened to be very first adaptation of this composition (before guitar duo, organ solo or guitar and harp). It's not about idiom of Lute or guitar. It's about pure music and two instruments bounding together. Thanks once again for your honesty! It's great to hear from you, as always 🙏🙏🙏🙂

A lesson in humility for whom said that the music for guitar, and the guitar itself was dead! Thank you Marek!

WUNDERBAR! - Einfach großartig - "einfach" und (gerade deshalb) "groß" - in Anlage, Struktur und Aussage.
Vielen Dank. Danke für Ihre netten Worte. Die Struktur war mir sehr wichtig. Ich freue mich, dass Ihnen diese Komposition gefallen hat.
