long story short - only extremely compromised people push for extensive use of modifier keys - they don't understand how idiotic it is for different programs to rely on different modifier key/combos for basic action like, copy, paste and cut they are faux-minimalist most of the time - preferring layers of 'minimal' abstraction - when no layer is necessary in the first place those people need help
