The Air Force floated an idea like that back in the 1950s, thought they could do nuclear powered aircraft carrier aircraft. Decided against it because having it crash somewhere over the US would be really bad.
The question is: in what futures will these inventions be available? A second question is: who will be able to afford them in those futures? The flying hotel, the ocean-going yacht, and the VTOL cab may be affordable to some, but I don't anticipate either having a use for or the money to buy, rent, or otherwise use any of these things. Oh, and it's 2024 now. Which of these inventions, supposed to be available last year, actually made it to market?
Could just go back to the Tesla level of technology where we’re able to extract free electricity from the air around us. Once we expand on the idea, every home would have electricity just by harvesting it from the air around their homes. Yess… moving particles in the air creates an electric charge via friction with the air and other particles. You don’t need a big tech company to show you how to extract it, there’s plenty of physics videos showing you how… it’s just not many are too interested in that so it goes nowhere as a technology.
The music is so repetitive that it almost made me watch something else. But I just hit mute for a few seconds between the mostly impractical inventions.
Those who can afford them certainly. Plus, once they're widely adopted, their price drops and eventually become affordable to a lot more people. See the smartphones now, initially they were a luxury for the few, but now even beggers own smartphones.
Technology is the way through the mess greed has made of the world. Study your history, as technology advances fewer people are in poverty as a percentage. Even silly or useless advances are good because they lead to better medical care, and cheaper food. Eventually we will get through the current crisis.
The shoes are $9 on tic tok. A bit cheaper than Mr. Trumps $399 clogs. I actually ordered a pair of the cheaper shoes and they are very comfortable. Bought all of my employee's a pair as well as my father. They love em. Have a great day

@@Sketchingoblin It popped up on my feed, and I was curious what kind of asinine things all you gullible minons will get trained into thinking you can't live without.😆 Thanks for asking, @sshat.
@@Sketchingoblin Just so people like you could ask me stupid questions. Or, just to see the next load of stupid crap, gullible people will get trained into thinking they need. Either one, take your pick.😁
I think it's a stupid idea. Why waste so much money to build a nuclear reactor flying hotel that's dangerous to operate and a potential nuclear disaster to people both on the plane and on the ground when they can build a huge maneuverable never landing balloon hotel in the air at a much lower cost?
Besides, the constant noise of the huge engines for keeping the nuclear powered flying hotel in the air will be a big nuisance to the people on the flying hotel .
The helium gas balloon for suspending the Sky Hotel should consist of many smaller balloons. Spare balloons can be inflated with compressed helium to replace balloons that have leaks so that there is no danger of the hotel falling from the sky at high speed. The never landing balloon hotel should be designed to be like a big life boat and can float on the sea if there is a need to do so. Instead of having lifeboats on the never landing balloon hotel, it should have ready-to-use lifeblimps for all the people in the hotel.
On second thought, I think a Sky Hotel in the form of a dirigible (filled up with many small helium balloons) with a climate-controlled and pressurized hotel structure below it is a better idea. However, attached liveblimps for everyone is still needed.
It's not really practical. The largest plane ever designed (but never built) was the CL-1201. It too was nuclear powered and designed to "never land"- the tradeoff was that you would burn through your entire reactor fuel supply in ~40 days. Also, a swimming pool on a plane? Are you kidding me? Even a fairly modest sized pool could weight in over 100 metric tons- the sloshing alone would be cause for serious concern.
I agree wholeheartedly with those who've asked, "WHO CARES?" throughout this comments section. But there are two things that drove me batty throughout this video: the INCREDIBLY repetitious music and the amount of footage they recycled through the video. What, they didn't have enough actual content that they had to show the same footage repeatedly?
Everyone thinks of technology and science as applications that will give us endless fun and make our lives like a Star Trek circus world. Apparently, there isn't a remotely plausible chance technology will enslave us all to the ones that own and control it.
These things when they become available with be affordable to the rich, very rich and super rich, for most people it will be only a dream. Some of them are cool though, but the first one when it crashed hundreds if not thousands of people will die.
That first airplane and the only thing in it's favor of even being possible is the comment about "If you disregard physics and aerodynamics, it is theoretically possible"... So if we disregard reality, it is theoretically possible for anything is what that comment is saying. For a reality check. The US military tried to make an airplane that had a nuclear engine for power. The idea was that it could fly for the lifetime of the reactor, which US carriers get about 10 years. The problem was all the shielding was just to heavy compared to the power and everything. They decided to forget shielding the entire plane and just shield the cockpit. This whole idea was scrapped. I do think it is possible for them to eventually make, but the problem was never whether they could do it or not. The issue was cost plus the negatives like radiation everywhere you go versus the benefit. Another term for this is practicality. Having a flying cruise ship may be possible one day, but I think the US Military would make a flying Aircraft Carrier first like from the The Avengers movies. Again, I think practicality is the big issue here, what do we actually gain versus the cost and potential disaster. If we aren't using nuclear power for this beast, how much fuel would this cost, and I'll guarantee it would be more than just not practical. We currently today have the ability to have flying cars. What do you think a helicopter is? Ok, but let's make it a drone and load it with balancing and other features to make flying easier. We have that too, already made. So why don't we have flying cars available on the market for transportation? The problem is practicality. Can you imaging having to make each person go through thousands of hours of flight time like pilots have to go through? If you don't, how well do you think you would handle air-currents, whether, or even keeping your flying car from dying in the air? If a car dies on the street, it doesn't fall. To fly around a city, you need inspections, logged flight times that were supervised of probably at least more than 100 hours, and we would need the city infrastructure with flight paths designated, flying police, and such. This is a reality we may never see. Not because it isn't possible, but because it isn't practical.

Many of these devices are really clever but will demand even greater amounts of energy expenditure, the very thing that is killing people with climate change and for what point. Yes it's great to innovate but we should be using these skills to undo the severe damage we have already done to our environment and to cut energy consumption.
