I think it's comical that he thinks for 2 seconds that even one juror would be on his side from his antics in the courtroom alone. They saw plenty even with the judge excusing them every 5 min. Agreed. He was the State's star witness. My opinion on why he called his own victims as witnesses for his defense:
The witnesses he called were also potential State's witnesses early on. The prosecution changed their minds and didn't call them because they either
A.) Didn't feel it was necessary to put the victims through more unnecessary pain (like the mother DB called, who had 3 or 4 children, all severely injured in the attack) when they had so many witnesses already
B.) The witness gave conflicting statements about the color/make of the vehicle or how many people they saw in the vehicle or the witnesses couldn't recall enough detail to be of great help to their case...and
C.) The witness had a criminal record (Abel Lezcano)
DB saw that the state decided not to call these people and decided they MUST be trying to "hide stuff from the jury." He also wanted to call anyone who put in their statements to police that they heard a horn honking or thought the vehicle was of a different make (like the witness who thought it was a Chevy Blazer) or stated that they saw multiple people in the car (Abel.) He thought calling these witnesses would give the jury reasonable doubt, like "Oh, well, some people said it was a red Ford, some said it was a Chevy Blazer." Or "The witness DID say they heard a horn honk and others didn't." Darrell calling these witnesses was a perfect example of desperately grasping at straws...and my GOD, did it ever backfire!!

Been on a binge this morning watching even tho I saw most of it back during the trial.
Many sites have comments closed. Likely had to bc ppl were blowing up the sites.
I can barely stomach his self pity. When the FBI questioned him and he whined about his hurt shoulder even tho he would gesture a lot and forget he needed to whine with his cheesy lies. I bet the survivors were hurting badly in the hospital while he feigned injury. Bet his victims felt unbearable pain when he ran them over..... Blames the cops for the body slam that hurt him.
    Yeah right Durl.
He's so ignorant claiming he rode with a friend but his mom's key is in his pocket. And he won't give the friends name so the friend won't be in trouble. So thoughtful Durl. He shucks and jives with the agents as tho they're his new best friends. When they left the room to make phone calls, they really only needed to spit the vomit out of their mouths.
The guard behind him could win a national poker tournament but there are times you can see him wishing he could choke Durl out...forever. Someday with no eyes watching someone will.
He thinks if he banters long enuf he can trick them into telling him what they have on him. They knew everything Durl. FBI doesn't investigate domestic abuse cases in Wisconsin. His attempt to defend himself, pretending to have the finesse of a law school grad, was laughable. He lied about graduating HS and it's obvious he has the brain of a Jr. High bonehead. Barely. His questions were impossible to answer bc they made no sense. The Spanish speaking witness had better English language skills than Durl. He repeated phrases constantly and most were trite.
In closing....his closing !!! Period. Nuf said.
What a wretched human....a waste of space. TG his kids will never see him again...as if they ever did.
His mom should be serving time with him. He wore her down but she never tried to stand up. She laid down his whole life at his mercy and he has no mercy He walked all over her and she cried for him. Cry for the survivors ma'am and for the loved ones of those he destroyed.
There is no redemption in him. He never had a single redeeming quality. None.
Thanks I feel some better. When they tell the world he's died there will be sighs but no tears.
    Coward.

i think his defense plan is to call everyone who didn’t see him drive through the parade, and try to create doubt. there are billions of people who didn’t see him drive through the parade. he could have called me to the stand. i also have not had a conversation with the state of wisconsin. i’m probably the exact person he think will get a not-guilty verdict.
