At 16:04, as soon as Liam goes and says that he's "Liam, your old friend", you Matt's face and smile drop.... just like if he seemed to understand something more meaningful that just a perfect robot voice was coming...
21:53 The amount of emotion on Liam's face here. He looked like he was so close to breaking and of course it was because it was Sam. Such a wonderful friendship they have. That they all have.
"I was richer for having known you, friend." I didn't know that there was a phrase that would make me cry just by how it's said. I'm not a diehard fan but it doesn't take one to see true friends.
I really appreciate your commentary! I hope people will watch the Campaign and learn truly why these bring all the feels, but even so...these are lovely moments.
I assume that you (and the people already commented) are fans of the show that watched season 1? Can someone maybe tell me, if it really was "that bad"? I mean the whole thing with teberius? I never got to watch season 1 so far (for multiple reasons). But I always asked myself why he left, then I saw some videos on why and all, but I guess I jist wanna know, was it really that bad? Or more importantly noticeable as just a viewer?
@@marcn6547 Some moments were tougher than others. Early on, he was a decent player at the table. There were a couple of moments towards the end of his time there that were really tough to watch, tho.
I haven't seen Tiberius's death since it happened. The moment when Sam said "This is poppycock", which of course, was one of Orion's catchphrases for Tibs, set me off then, and just did the same again.
Orion had a lot of personal problems, which is what caused the riff between him and the rest of the team (especially Travis and Laura I believe). I wonder what they'll do with the animated show. Drop Tiberius from the narrative or have someone else voice him? I remember the episode when he left the group, Matt did a pretty much spot on impersonation of Tibs.
Maybe for the best. I could kinda see Tiberius being a fan favourite for newcomers watching the animation without seeing the stream, and given his fate, may have been a little too dark for the cartoon.
Miserable Mozz yeah. I remember what that was like, he was my favourite character initially but as I learned more about tabletop courtesy and as he slowly grew darker as we went on, it was a relief to see him go, Orion got nasty sadly :/ but Tiberius was always a good character
When that first “I was richer for having known you” dropped, I felt it right in the soul. Even having not seen that clip before, I could just feel how fuckin real those words were to him. He loves those folks and they love him right back.
As someone who drunkenly tweeted out how much I appreciate my friend the other night, yeah I agree. It’s hard to get to that place in earnest but they all deserved what he said and he deserved to have said it. Life, very very literally, is quite short. Tell the people you love how you feel about them, at least once, but I’d recommend twice. Maybe a third time if you’re lucky.
I just love the fact that Sam Riegel, the guy that had some of the most issues with Orion and his behavior, at least had a sense of humbleness to put that aside, and instead act his role of Scanlan, saying his farewells to his dead friend and ally of Tiberius. Such a display of maturity. I'm not here to stir up drama or nothing, I'm just sharing my opinions on a truly emotional scene. "Goodbye old friend. We'll come back and we'll fix this. Cause this is... poppycock."
Sam is an incredible player, his most notable skill being his ability to avoid metagaming. He consistently says things along the lines of "oh, well I don't know that," referring to things such as enemy weaknesses, hit points, etc.. It also shows in this moment, because despite his problems with the *player* Orion, Scanlan still had a friendship with the *character,* which Sam highly prioritizes over his issues with Orion.
@@Nerdywolf18 Sometimes they exaggerate with "avoiding metagaming" to a point where it becomes silly. At one point, he insists in using a lightning spell on Lady Briarwood even tho the characters already knew she was immune. There's a part where Matt forces Marisha/Keyleth to not know what "vampire mist" looks like even tho they fought vampires before. Sometimes "metagaming" is just basic character intuition and preparation.

Hi - lovely voice over, great content and love the fact you included Keyleth’s letter from Kerrick, that Patrick Rothfuss has a fine way with words and a great voice :)
#9: I've watched this so many times. I used it as a basis as a (yet discovered) letter from a character's father. I never realized the gift was a ring. Vex's comment makes more sense now. #7: After watching this I realized that this was all Liam's dream. The computer was attempting to express its feelings throughout. Liam says at one point, "This is based on a nightmare I had once." Everything seemed nonsensical at the time, but in that context it makes sense. #6: It took a minute to realize what Percy was talking about. I love how Matt and Taliesin are always on each other's wavelengths. They almost know what the other is thinking at times. When he says, "Pull that one down then," it hit me like bricks. I was very middle of the road with Tiberius. He was bumbling and metagamey at times, but I think he had potential. And giving him a hero's death/remembrance showed great respect by all.
I can't lie, Kerr's letter and the simple message of "I have passed through fire" resonates with me. It gets me deep inside. I feel like it implies that the fire of life and its challenges can change someone, much like metal in a forge. Keyleth, and all of Vox Machina at that passed through the proverbial fire, and they all changed because of it. I have also had those moments; deaths in the family, personal disasters, depression, etc. But at the end of it, I have come out the other side. I feel I have gotten stronger, and am very much so a different person for the better because of these experiences. I too, have passed through fire. In fact, I think we all have in some way. So every time I hear that line, I feel it deep down. If you read this, I hope things get better for you. Stay the course, because you will be stronger on the other side of it all.
If you get the chance, check out the Indian folk metal band Bloodywood, and their song "Jee Veerey." It is about overcoming depression and suicidal tendencies. But rather than be hopeless, it is an uplifting song. It is a song that lifted me out of one of the darkest days and darkest hours of my life. It kept me fighting when nothing else would. I hope you are doing well, friend. May the road of your life always be sunny, but never without rain.

Holy shit. "I was richer for having known you, friend" was one of the most beautiful things I've seen in a long time.
Sunken tomb was the first episode I watched. Instantly hooked.
Rothfuss on Critical Role VS Rothfuss on Acquisitions Inc. is quite the dichotomy, and I love both.
Technically this is the second death in Vox Machina the first occurring off screen with Pike against a dragon.
I feel like I need to watch this whole campaign all over again because I feel like i missed SO MUCH by listening to the podcast rather than watching the stream.
Back at it again with the Liam One shot.
You ever just need a good cry and then this video pops up in your recommended? :D
I wonder how long it took Patrick to write that letter.....
