Others should watch this fellow & learn how to prepare a video . Great teaching with thanks.
Thanks Seb! Appreciate the feedback mate 👍😁🇦🇺
@@diyforknuckleheads Good work deserves words of praise.
What I love about this video is that you take the time to show how to use a combination square to mark the reveal. Other how-to videos don't include it or take a short time to explain how you use it. It's nice when I can say "Oh that is how you can mark a straight line easy"
👍😁....Cheers for that Juan! Really appreciate you taking the time to leave feedback. Cheers mate 👍😁🇦🇺
Always informative and amusing. Thank you.
Thanks for watching as always mate :-)
Great job on the trim, not many can make it look good that easy 👍🏼
Appreciate the comment Veronica :-)
Nothing better than settling down with a cup of tea and a new Uncle Knackers video.
Good stuff Omar. Glad you liked it mate :-)
That's a great way of doing it Shane! thanks for sharing, I will be using it on my utility room remodel!
No worries mate and good luck with the utility room :-)
You are a master Shane.
Thanks for watching Marty :-)
I like the way u did it ,,,, u make it seems easy ,,all my respect.
Appreciate the comment Nihad. Cheers
love your style Shane
Thanks Anthony. Glad you liked it mate.
I used your method of installing architrave around a door and a window and it made something that l have struggled with and buggered up in the past easy.
Also your method of taking slices to to achieve the correct cut on the mark is very clever.
Thank you
Glad it helped Les and well done mate 👍😁🇦🇺
Your best I've seen on RUclips..
Cheers Eddie! Appreciate the comment mate 👍🇦🇺
Nice bit of work that Shane, Well Done a well deserved cuppa. Cheers my Friend, Barry (from England)
Thanks Bazz :-)
That's a good method there Uncle Knackers. I've been working on a window install and trim out for my 60 year old house for way to long. Nothing square or flush!
Ahhhh the old out of plumb window :-) Seen plenty of those in my day. I used to work on a lot of Period homes so l know what you're talking about! Thanks for watching Steve :-)
GREAT tip on gluing the corners. I haven't done that but I think I will start.
We need some furniture in the room to cut down on the echo's, although I like the echo when using the gun (6:09).
Won't be long before Auntie Knackers will change that house into a home.
Yeah Mark the room is pretty empty and echoy......Don't worry, it's already started :-)
Shane you have come a long way since you where making out door settings out of freight pallets , Well done mate next time i'm down your way I will have a caption cook .. All the best ,,
Thanks mate. Hopefully l'll be back into those projects soon. Cheers :-)
Had to save this one, I'm sure I'll need it. Thanks
Thanks Tony
nice work Knackaaazzzz !!!
Thanks mate! :-)
Quality uncle, top job mate. Keeping it short & sweet Shane, i'm knackered and about to hit the fart sack, then i saw you're upload and had to watch, so thanks heaps for another ripper vid knackers. Cheers
Sorry to keep u up James. Hopefully it put you to sleep :-) Cheers ,mate
bloody hell Shane, must be a hell of a good feeling when that last one fits poyfect aye. felt good here and im just watching :)
Feels good alright Albert! You want people to come inside and have a look at it hahahaha. Cheers mate
I thought I was partaking but realised it was just the video. Nice work, Uncle Knackers :D
Cheers mate :-)
WOW, for a few minutes there I thought I had taken a bad batch of drugs. All psychedelic on me and having trouble focusing ;0 . Can't be too much longer before you move in. Thanks for the tips Uncle :)
Yeah mate, we have louvre windows that cast a rainbow when the sun is in a certain spot. Peace out man :-)
Wow, that last piece going in, beautiful mate! I've got to install some door architrave soon so this will be really helpful. I was going to try some really strong grab adhesive though because I didn't want any nail holes, so I hope it doesn't fall down! Also, I want one of those rainbow t-shirts haha :-)
Thanks Eicles. The rainbow shirt comes courtesy of the sun shining through the louvre window behind me. In summer, the rainbow runs across the floor if the blind isn't down. Cheers mate
Great tip, Shane. I have never done trim work before, but I am sure a tube of caulk would also be handy after my install, if you know what I mean...
Thanks David. Caulk....a carpenters best friend :-)
Muy buen trabajo Tio Knackers.
Gracias Ricardo. Me alegro de que pareció útil. Saludos :-)
hey, just want o say thanks , very useful..
No worries Iim. Thanks for watching :-)
Very nice...too easy. Liking the echo ;-)
Super informative. Will save your vid for future reference ........
Thanks Ralphy. Glad you liked it and thanks for leaving me some feedback. Cheers
Thanks Shane. Perfect timing for my next job. I'm about to install bathroom window trim over tiles that aren't flush with trimmers. Do you think shaving the back of the thick side of my bullnose trim is best to get it to sit flush. Or pack out the thin end and have another step to the window. Your vid answers the rest! Thanks for sharing.
Yeah Dave, shave the back of the thick side. Bit of a pain but you don't really have a choice. Good luck with it and thanks for watching. Cheers :-)
from Argyll in Scotland...nice one Shane :)
Thanks Gazzmo. Appreciate the comment mate. I'll have to go and look up where Argyll is now :-)
ha ha ..you crack me up pall. Your vids are very helpful though, much appreciated
Hey Shane, I love the look of a tight mider in the morning! Great that you take the time to explain the process. Going to do any with a sill?
LOL.... No l don't have any sills to do mate. Sorry about that. Have a good one mate
Great Tip.... :)
Thanks Jonathan
Nice!!!!
Glad you liked it David
Great tip Knackers! 😂😂😂
😁....Cheers Neville 👍😁
Good job my brother :)
Cheers TJ :-)
Good work my friend i like it :)
G'day Shane, please keep all the measurements in metric as trying to convert from imperial back is making me cross eyed mate especially when it's in 32s of an inch aarrgghh lol, best Aussie channel 👍🏻🇦🇺👍🏻
Dirk, l'm a metric man through and through. That's why l inserted an imperial converter in the description box. I do however use one eighth of an inch as a measurement because most people of both persuasions know that one. Have a good one mate and thanks for watching :-)
Wondering if it's nessary to seal the gaps between window frame and plasterboard. Thinking about the energy loss...
GREAT VIDEO ViDeO video video ;-)
Sorry about the echo Roland :-) Thanks for watching mate
+shaneconlan1 Sure thing, appreciate your work, keep it up!
No caulk needed! Easier said than done though. Good job! (from Twin Lake Michigan) :)
Thanks LoDawn 👍
You make this easier. Now the tough part is figuring out the color of frame paint
Hope it went well for you Steve 👍
Great insight Knackers, but I have missed the windows being placed into the frame openings, could you please tell me where I can view this episode . Love the insight into how to build. We are about to start our own owners building home, excellent learning tools. Great tips Knackers thumbs up
G'day Raymond....glad u liked the video mate. When l was installing the windows there was a million things happening at once so l didn't get a chance to video the process unfortunately. If u need some advice just shoot me a private message and we'll talk about it there. Cheers mate
Cheers Shane, I have downloaded every episode. love em. keep up the great work ..
👍👍😁
Shane, one of these times say alrighty.... I think it's time for a Fosters.
Good idea CM :-) I'm actually having one as l write this. Cheers
any young apprentice, DIY or anyone fitting off a house needs to use this technique as theres none better to finish off.....
G'day Wes....thanks for that mate 👍😁
Thanks for the video, but if you could add a clip on mic, it will eliminate all echoes :)
Echo? Echo? Echo? What Echo?
Sorry about the echo AA. I'll have to get around to getting one of those one of these days. Thanks for watching. Cheers
Looks great, but makes me wonder why we do the things in the order we do sometimes, it seems it would make sense to paint first then put up trim but we never do that lol.
Paintings always last John as you need to fill holes, caulk trim, repair dings made by trades (such as the carpenters putting on there trim) etc etc. Cheers mate
+shaneconlan1 lol, I know that, it is just one of those thing that always float around in my head every time I do it :) I tell myself if I put up the trim later I won't have to tape it before I paint ;)
Hey ya Knackers - quick one, what size trim are you using there? Also, what skirting board size did you use in your other vid? Cheers Mick
G'day Mick.....the arch's are 66 x 18mm primed Half Splayed and the skirts are 92 x 18mm Primed Half Splayed. I really like this profile as it's clean and it won't date! Have a good one and thanks for watching 👍😁🇦🇺
Hi Shane, What size architrave did you use in this video?
67mm x 19mm mate 👍
Juergen klopp on the chop
Hahahahaha....BOOM! Thanks for watching mate 👍😁🇦🇺
How do you deal with corners that are not 90 degrees.
Mate you just have to experiment with pieces of scrap before you cut the final pieces. Cut two 45's first and see how the join looks. Then adjust the cut until it looks good.
Hey mate, was there a reason you started with the bottom?
Yeah David, l start on the bottom because it makes it easier to place the following pieces of trim on to make marking and installing easier. You then finish up with the top piece just dropping in. It just makes the whole process more manageable. Cheers
Makes sense to me, thanks.
Hi mate. Is it possible to paint the trim before installing? So as to avoid having to cut in afterwards?
tonyflynn25 I know where you’re coming from Tony but no you can’t.
Do you mind me asking why? Basically we've repainted all our existing window frames and skirting boards, but are now installing a new floating floor. So we have removed the existing skirting and have now decided to replace with something more modern (so need to replace the window trim also). We've chosen a pre-primed MDF from bunnings and I was hoping to paint, then cut to rough length and the install, as I found cutting in hugely frustrating when painting and also don't want to get paint on my new floor. My plan was to caulk the nail holes after install and then touch these up with paint. Hope that makes sense?! Any advice appreciated :)
Fantastic videos BTW, this and your one on installing skirting have given me great confidence to try it myself. Your explanation of coping is brilliant, it seemed very daunting to me before this.
The reason is that once the painted patch dries, you will see where the patch is especially in certain light. Also if you use an acrylic enamel paint it can be hard to feather the paint back during the sanding process to get a flawless finish. If you’re still keen to paint first, try it in an unnoticeable place first abs see if you are happy with the result. Good luck👍
Thank you. Really appreciate the time you've take to reply.
One final Q if I'm not pushing my luck too much!....is a Brad nailer sufficient to hold the trim and skirt on, and if not do I need a finish nailer? Any particular one you'd suggest, given I'm a home DIYer who won't use it that often
Tony you need a nail gun that fires nails at least 38mm long which all finish nailers are capable of. A 45 mm nail is even better. You can probably hire a finish gun from Bunnings. If not, then Ryobi has a DIY Finish nailer that will set you back around the 250.00 mark. Good luck 👍
Hiiiii sir
👍👍😁
How much money is available in the work of Brother Sliding Window
G'day mate, do you have an Instagram account? Long time subscriber and follower, hope all's well with the heavy rain down your way.

Hi Abib. Yeah there is a little bit of a resemblance :-)
