With regard to the mention of it being easier to render hard artificial textures than it is to render skin, that's precisely why Pixar's first big film was Toy Story, they made a short called "tin toy" that had a very uncanny baby, but the toys all looked solid, so they leaned into it and made a feature length film with the fewest humans they could get away with.
Yerp, most of the time humans would be covered up or seen at a distance.
Andy from the first movie is completely unrecognizable compared to the latest one.
Can I just say that Murder Drones would make a SICK video game, even just fighting a few drones in a Doom mod? With how unique each character is, and how stacked the Murder Drones themselves are, I'd pay every dime I could muster to get that shit.

Picture a hack n slash like dmc. N and V have alot of combo and weapon swap potential. Uzi got gun mod and anime style martial arts, until she goes zombie drone trigger. Plus it can be gore -ee as fuk.

Murder drones is actually much more closely based off of one of Liam Vickers's more recent works, Internecion Cube. I highly recommend checking it out, it is very good
I can really see the influence from Liam's other shows he made, "cliffside" and "Internecion cube" (the second one especially). Uzi gives off vibes similar to Ic-0n at times and so do some of the murder drones. Really gald to see him finally get a series picked up and can't wait to see where it goes :D
Honestly I wish they gave any of those early projects the murder drones treatment. Idk why but the writing and plot for those feels way more fluid and bulletproof than murder drones. It's weird to me how his solo projects seem better.
The hair thing is explained through the Twitter account. Apparently, it's scavenged from the human corpses lying around.
As for the kids thing, we've seen them carry bundles of "untrained neural networks", which implies they're taking a blank AI, let it develop based on the interactions the parents have with it, and then transfer said AI into progressively larger drone bodies.
i can understand if thats the case for the worker drones...
but what about the murder drones ?

@@huntercraft5674 so far, the only way new murder robots appeared is that they were sent to the planet via spaceship, by humans; they probably don't create new ones on the planet itself, 'cos N was surprised to see a 'short' murder robot
there's also that whole "absolute solver" entity that seems to manage their regeneration and can use things from the environment, including human remains... but -it's unclear whether it can (or is willing to) restore robots from very critical state, or whether it just keeps going (and murdering) by itself, without trying to restore original robot's body, neural network (with personality) and memory.- Edit: re-watched that part, it is trying to restore the robot as per its 'directive', and it seems like it just didn't have enough time to complete that, but it's still possible that its reconstruction may be not perfect when it was destroyed so much

Liam has confirmed all of their clothing was taken off of humans after they died and fitted to the drones (doesn't explain the dissasembly drones though) and the hair is implied to be wigs
The disassembly drones are wearing uniforms, probably customized by Tessa.

My youtube algorithm blessed me by recommending me the first episode of Murder Drones, the team at Glitch are one of the most talented in the indie animation scene and completely destroy most of the shows in streaming services nowadays, Sunset Paradise is probably one of my favorite animation shows and Murder Drones just keeps getting better.
Hopefully Glitch makes shows of all of Liam's previous ideas too, because they were just gold. ESPECIALLY Cliffside
To answer the question "Why do the robots have hair?". At the start of the episode number 2 one of the shadowy humans says, 'Where is she getting the hair to play dress up with them?'. This shows that someone is using the robots like life size playthings.
That explains so much about V's design.
And a ama with liam revealed that the worker drones on copper 9 (yes that's the name of the planet) got their hairs from human skeletons

Been a fan of Liam Vickers every since I saw cliffside way back when. I'm so glad we finally get to see a full series made by him.
The fact that smg4 went from playing around in gmod and using Mario green screen effects to this high quality top notch show is amazing to me

Damn, who would thought that SMG4 would go from a small Mario 64 blooper about the cake to a dark but still awesome webseries about murder drones! I highly recomend to check it out, along with other productions they have done in the past.

I've been seeing so many animation memes and clips on murder drones, but ones I watched episode 1 I extremely loved it.
I know not a lot of people know Luke or Kevin Lerdwichagul but it is amazing since Luke (aka SMG4) is a RUclipsr started to just make a memes and joke video into a full series show. Even though i feel like he never attended, having his brother, Kevin get involve with it and help him make a production video is amazing. It really show how 1 person making stupid and funny stuff and make a series.

As someone that use to watch SMG4 when I was a teenager before Glitch Productions was founded...I must say it is impressively well executed. Your thoughts on it mirror mine exactly.
Liam does good work, his sense of humor and his experience and understanding of horror have come together wonderfully
I'm just glad that Liam got to actually do something with his story ideas rather then cancelling them like usual.
I really like his animations/storyboards and music, but damn does he make people want more content and just stops.

Just with the firsts minutes i was already in love with this serie. The characters are so cool and the animation is really well made

I love how they lean into the part where they’re mentally robots. All of their actions are AI scripted. Uzi is constantly saying “bite me” and her dad said he also went through a “kill all humans faze”. I doubt he did that, because that’s what all dads say in tv shows, and when the teacher brings up the potential of damage” he starts fumbling, like all parents in every tv show ever
pretty sure the writers are just leaning into the tropes heavily. not having an AI write dialogue for them.
@@aj_art7201 they didn't say anything about an AI writer, just that the actions by the characters are the sort of things that their own AI (being robots) would push them to do.
@@mothichorror446 an AI meant for doing manual labor wouldn't act our TV tropes, as there would be no reason for it to have the knowledge of said TV tropes. If they know about the troped now, they would have only learned about them due to movies they found or having seen the movies humans watched while humans still occupied the planet

If they know they're acting out those tropes inworl hen here doing it on purpose because they saw them on TV, not because humans programmed them to.

Okay, after watching this review. I’m DEFINITELY going to check this series out. I’m just really active in supporting independent animators and artists these days since big cooperation companies keep cutting or cancelling original content
I also recommend you checking out Liam's other projects, namely Cliffside and Internecion Cube ;)

Can we also state that luke and kevin STILL produce weekly stuff for smg4 while working on stuff for gltich. And some of the arcs in smg4 feel like pre-gltich mini shows
murder drones is amazing, i can tell that these people in glitch put their heart and soul into this amazing indie animation. i love the horror, mystery, the world-building, comedy, and characters. for me, i'd never care for post-apocalyptic/dystopia era but this one i actually enjoy. in my opinion there are characters who are self-aware and their comedy is kinda obviously funny but there is nothing I can't complain about.

Actually they explain the hair in a later episode. They are installed wigs. It was something some Drone owners would use to customise them cosmetically & the trend was carried on by the Drones post humans.
I still can’t stop rewatching the videos, I absolutely love the videos. Even if there’s only 2 episodes, I will still continue rewatching them

I have been following Liam for an extremely long ass time since his creepypasta/story's/music and I'm glad that he has started a new series and can't wait for more episodes of this series!

I am _VERY_ interested to see where the story and characters of Murder Drones will go moving forward. Of course, with only two episodes out at the time of commenting, it's hard to say. But seeds have been planted. As of right now however, I'm mainly just so happy that Liam Vickers finally has an official running series to call his own. Ever since I saw Cliffside way back when, I've wanted to see more of his stuff and HOO BOY am I getting it!

He predicted that she was secretly alive and that she was involved in the planet's explosion. Both of these predictions were confirmed to the extreme

SMG4 went from a basic noob animator for Mario and his own character to have his own animation company thats being funded by the Australian government and even Screen Australia. Its amazing to see him get that far!!
I was pleasantly surprised to have Saberspark talk about a Glitch- show.
Shows how far Luke and Kevin have come in their animation career.
Running a parody series of Mario online is one thing, but creating new worlds that gain the attention of other content creators is a different matter.
It was a fun and action pack of the indie animation, I could think independent animation could be the biggest thing for the animation industry from Hazbin Hotel, Helluva Boss and much more!

I know its not animation, but Liam Vickers' "Black Dogs" series is literally one of my favorite pieces of fiction to date. Its a brilliant horror story that I urge everyone to check out!

Black Dogs is a part of his early works, and its located on the Scary Story Time With Liam channel, aka SSTWL. He has a ton of other stories on there, I'd seriously recommend checking out all of his old projects on the channel

I have been watching Murder Drones since I was 13-14, because that's how old I was when it came out
(I'm 16 now, not that long ago), and I LOVE it!!! I hope they release EP 8 sometime soon.
It's sad that ADC is getting all the love, and that Murder Drones is so underrated.....
I literally am a huge fan of the show, and watched each episode 5 times lol.
While the fandom behind liam vickers still misses his old stuff, most of us see him explore new stories and put his mastery of writing horror to good use

How different is his old stuff compared to the new one?
For all I have seen, all his works are cartoons with a focus on horror, mystery and some light comedy.

@@manzanito3652 also sstwl has tons of his music which I love to listen too. He has songs based on stories or characters and the descriptions usually give out a basic plot. Dude is an insane creator of stories and lore

I would like to give a bit of context on murder drone's past, Murder Drones actually came from a small series of story boards made by Liam Vickers after the success of his pilot for cliffside, these story boards are what caught GLITCH's attention and were for a series that was originally called Internecion Cube and have quite a different plot going on with humans being much more of a focus, but I think it is neat comparing the differences and similarities in story and designs and you can definitely see Liam's kind of humour shine through in all of his products which I quite like the charm of! :>
This series might give possible hints to future plot points. ;)
But murder drones has strayed a lot from the series it was picked up from so who knows!
I do like robots, and the future, and old sci fi technology. And combining that with great voice acting, and great designs for robots, leads to a show I wish I knew sooner! Honestly the eyes and facial expressions are my favorite parts of animation in general.

I love murder drones too, I definitely believe moving forward we're going to get darker plot points that progress things quite smoothly. I do agree that the Pilot felt self aware a bit, but I don't mind it that much personally
This looked so much like it was inspired by Cliffside and then you pointed out that the creator was involved in this as well; I HAVE to watch this now.
I love all of Liams stuff, he can make some great stories and characters.
Glitch Productions are one of my favourite production groups style wise. Even though season one is a bit rough, Metarunner has a great cyberpunk feel, Sunset Paradise looks like a videogame (which it's supposed to), and Murder Drones is absolutely amazing. Pretty nice for two guys who make Gmod machinima
It’s supposed to fill the Void of Teens/Young adult content so I can see why they went for that feel tbh. For that reason alone I LOVE Glitch Production’s Content.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks the robots in Murder Drones are strangely attractive.
Suffice to say, the aesthetics work, they work REALLY well.
